That’s why I get pissed off when people make fun of wrestling saying that it’s not real. But these men and women put their bodies on the line on a nightly basis for our entertainment for real.
@@Guilherme36594 they really put their bodies on the line. Are all the concussions that they suffer fake? Yeah so stfu. Just because it’s predetermined doesn’t make it fake numnuts.
Fun fact April 1997 marked the first time you had three straight weeks with three different wrestling pay-per-views: WCW Spring Stampede on April 6. ECW Barely Legal on April 13 and WWF In your house Revenge of the Taker on April 20.
@@ShinSuperSaiyajin that's fair... i DO tend to have a blind spot for the Destroyer... i admit, upon reflection, it's just not on the same level as the DBCL.
I think the lighter botch helped the Undertakers character in the long run. It made him look like a cold hearted bastard that was going to inflict pain and enjoy it, and it gave him an edge that suited him well as he went into 1998.
I love every Foley / Undertaker storyline. They were just meant to battle each other. Taker was the (nearly) unstoppable force, until Mankind showed up and you could feel some sense of danger for the Undertaker for the first time. Finally someone who just wont stop, who could take all the beatings and JUST WONT STOP. Who throws all the blood, the tools, the fire, the broken glass at Taker. And only stops when he is an unconscious bloody pulp with a broken tooth sticking out of his nose,. aka their HIAT match.
The Taker/Mankind match here is ridiculously underrated. I think it's my favorite non HiaC encounter between the two of these guys, just beating out the Boiler Room Brawl. Just a completely wild brawl with so many great high spots and tons of physicality. The Bret/Austin match is pretty good too, but it's (somewhat rightly) overshadowed by their previous encounters. I think the matched served its purpose pretty well, though, which was to keep fans interested in their rivalry and set up Austin's ultimate vengeance in a big payoff. It's such a shame we never got that payoff.
The production value behind this and every single video you put out is absolutely mind blowing. You really take us wwf veterans back to the glory days by including original footage.
An extremely 1997 PPV. You got some really good stuff with the Hart Foundation (including cheeky Brian Pillman), Austin being a badass as usual and an important step on the long road to Kane's debut. But then you also got pre-nation Rock, Flash Funk and Rockabilly.
And atleast it was before the smarks cried every single time Austin "buried" someone on his rise. Unlike now where it doesn't matter who it is, the smarks instantly start crying about "burying" people the instant they lose.
Lots of good memories watching this show and still to this day, one of my favourite In Your House show which featured an excellent first world title defense for The Undertaker against Mankind, Bret Hart Vs Steve Austin was good but their Wrestlemania match was much better but I understand it was hard to top that. Undertaker burning Paul Bearer's face would kick off the epic storyline and slow build up for the debut of Kane
My favorite Bret vs Austin match has always been their Survivor Series 96 match. As a pure wrestling match it was perfect. But I will concede that the WM 13 match told the better story.
I really respect that he seems sorry not to be able to guarantee a release schedule. But man , what do any of us have to complain about if he took three weeks off? He's earned it. RTW is the best of RU-vid content. Take your time man.
Another awesome upload from the greatest wrestling channel on the planet. I can remember this PPV from back in the day. Awesome show and I think the Stone Cold VS Bret Hart match gets overlooked from this PPV. It may not have been as good as their earlier matches, how could it have been, however it really added fuel to the Hart Foundation storyline.
Come on, man! Savio beat the IC Champ on Raw by wearing him down with those DEVASTATING nerve holds! OF COURSE he will keep this same winning strategy in a title match! :)
Your videos have inspired me to relive the wars on wwe 2k I have all the authentic caws and arenas to give my shows a very realistic feel you made me remember things that I didn’t realize I missed so much…thank you for inspiration I’ll be shouting you out on my first upload
Being a Rochester native, its really strange to see local pizza places advertised in a WWF video. I've been to the War Memorial a few times but I had never been before the renovations so its super cool to see how it used to look. I guess this doesn't have anything to really do with the video, I guess I'm just thankful to be seeing this.
Absolutely love your channel. I’ve been binging reliving the war for about a month. I love that you give your videos a little time to breathe and that you aren’t trying to do the classic RU-vid seven to fifteen minute videos. I know I’m late to the party, but this is amazing.
If it wasn't for Bret I don't know if Austin would have had the amazing career he went on to have. In a time where most of the big time superstars in the WWF did not want to Help out a Up and Comer like Austin, Bret did. Then bret pretty much demanded to put Steve over by doing the double heel turn and having him pass out in the sharpshooter And refusing to tap which gave Austin his reputation. And then he gave Austin a clean title win over him later on so in my opinion he helped make stone cold and he did so very unselfishly.
Bret also helped with the rock as they wanted him to take the IC title as apparently Shawn Michaels didn’t like both of them and wanted kill two birds with one stone. Bret with IC title out of main event and wwf champ contention. Also removing the rock from any momentum he was building.
Whoever was the agent for the past two savio Vega matches really dropped the ball. One of the best in ring workers they had at the time and he's doing all these nerve holds.
I really think Savio Vega is underrated as far as in ring work, and putting the right people over at the right time. If he wasn't as good as he was, his doing the job would mean nothing.
Thanks again for this series, it's definitely the best ever covering "the Monday night war" and reliving it like this is awesome. There's so much I'm noticing now that i didn't at the time.
I think if I remember right wasnt Hart working thru a legit knee injury at this point that he suffered in Kuwait? Explains partly the “lower” quality of the match, even though it was still damn good. Taker and Mankind was a blast to watch. As usual great review!
@@danielmelvin4525 while he did get beat up the next night after losing to rock by DQ. Stone cold came out and then proceeds to beat his ass and then Owen and bulldog take Bret to a ambulance and then Steve Austin is the driver 😂😂
I always wished that title belts could change hands on a DQ. Looking back on the last 30+ years of wrestling, there's been a massive amount of DQ wins. It's frustrating.
You have gone above and beyond on your channel and the content you put out. You take your time on your break and know that you will have the same people still subscribed to your channel and maybe even new ones looking at your channel and the fantastic videos. Much respect and thank you for entertaining us, your fans.
Absolutely love the music put together for every video i have ever seen on this channel. Wrestling Bios is hands down the best channel for this particular type of content.😄👍
Gotta love DBS applauding Animal on a 10/10 chin lock on Owen. I enjoyed your review of this show and the second half was way better than the first half. Seriously 11 Nerve Holds within a week?! The dreaded Boricua Death Grip was too much.
I always forget about this match because I thought Taker's first defense was against Austin. Turns out that is next month. And the perplexing look he gives after lighting the flame was BRILLIANT subtle storytelling and foreshadowing.
Austin and Bret’s encounter was yup underrated as well, and enjoyed that too.. man 1997 to early 2001, for me those where some of the best years in wrestling, and I relive it anytime I choose to. Thanks Bios as always man for these great uploads.
WWF in 1997 was one of the best & most fun years to watch!! I could seriously watch Stone Cold vs Bret Hart/Hart Foundation feud over & over and never get sick of seeing it. 1998 & 1999 were good too, but 1997 was the start of one of the best Era's in wrestling!!!
Hope all is well in your real life definitely gonna miss these uploads but I know you'll be blessing us with content from time to time thank you so much for all the wonderful work you put forward
WOW!! This was the first live Wrestling event I ever saw, and my home-made banner made the PPV Pre-Show! (I have it somewhere on VHS but I dont think it made the digital replay edition on WWE Network) So pumped you did this one!
Brets the only wrestler that Steve Austin never pinned or made submit (Steve even says this) however if the screwjob hadn't of happened he would have finally gotten that pinfall win at wm 14 that was the original wm 14 main event idea.
Love the constant content. Its great to remember where I was in life each time you release a new video, brings up memories otherwise forgotten. Keep the videos coming, between you and what culture, I'm back into wrestling considering I haven't watched any wrestling since the pg era started. Much thanks
