I actually thought about watching Royal Rumble 95 but then I was like nah osw is better. I can't tell you how many times I want to watch an old pay-per-view on the network and I'll just watch osw instead.
Lex saying he is "sick and tired of being a contender here in the WWF" seems like a good slip considering he jumped ship to Nitro for less than what he was making in WWF, a deal Eric Bishoff expected him to turn down and was amazed he didn't.
@@na2898 Do people call you a chip mark when you cite your extensive knowledge of Doritos? I hope you call another student a mark next time they answer a question in class. That'd be great.
@@tylerlittleton6583 And it's also as if Macho knew that Hogan no-sells finishers, so the only way to rejuvenate Hogan was with his signature flying elbow.
Here comes the part where I be one of "those people." The Grave Digger monster truck has zero connections to the Undertaker except there is a cool photo out there somewhere where Taker introduced the truck at a show (as you referenced). The Grave Digger truck has been around since the 70s HOWEVER (as you showed) there was an official WWF Undertaker truck that ran a few events in the 90s. BRUCIE BONUS 1: WCW had a few monster trucks as well, and not just the two ran for Halloween Havoc sumo! Sting, Goldberg, Madusa, the nWo and Monday Nitro all had their own trucks in 2000. Once the WCW license was gone, Madusa (who drove her own truck) bought the licensing and continued running it for the next 15 years! (Double Bonus: Monster Jam Maximum Destruction, a monster truck themed Twisted Metal clone on the PS2 is technically the last game to feature a WCW license before the WWF buyout) BRUCIE BONUS 2: There were several planned team trucks for the Undertaker one, including Bret Hart, British Bulldog and others but none ever were made. The Undertaker truck would later be used as Stone Cold's Austin 3:16 truck used to run over The Rock's car on Raw!
Grave Digger was Randy Savage to Big Foot's Hulk Hogan in the 80's and early 90's era of Monster Trucks. But Grave Digger outlasted him and is now the top draw. Would you to like to watch Sergent Slaughter have a tug of war match with a monster truck and star in a music video where he has a shredding guitar solo? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H8_i2l0JR4c.html
As a southern boy, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving out about that before me. You articulated all my moaning so much better than my drunk ass would of.
He's spot on about "Do It For Her" i tear up every time i see it now. Totally differnt meaning as an adult with a kid compared to when I myself was a kid....
I was on the floor laughing during the Little Bitch segment. Thanks again for being a bright light in a dark period of time - I can always count on OSW to cheer me right up after another week of dispiriting job seeking.
Here is the thing... 1-2-3/Lightning/Whatever Kid was actually like... OVER, which is so hard to do in the New Gen. So why oh why Vince did you make Mr. Waltman such a kayfabe bitch? Like, the longer these reviews go and the more I re-watch for myself the more I realize that the WWE has a bad habit of succeeding despite itself.
@@andrejg4136 I can only assume Vince was trying to turn LB's weakness on promos ("hopefully we'll win") into his character. But yeah it just doesn't work.
A good next story arc would be that awkward carny era of WCW when Kevin Nash played a wizard, Big Josh brought live bears to the ring and Robocop saved Sting from a horseman beatdown. >__>
I think it's hilarious that the Raw ring girl has had a more successful political career than Linda McMahon. Also, the Blu Brothers were like the most untalented people who for some reason always had a job.
I was just thinking about this, and wondering if there wasn't some way to hype this up as the big match they desperately wished it could be. Aaaaaand... no. You can't. IRS can not be built up to be anything on par with Undertaker. It just doesn't work.
Fun fact: to get monster trucks into arenas, they just put regular tires on them and then swap them out for the big ones once they’re inside. It’s actually pretty funny looking.
Although they both should have had more ring time, I am sure both backlund and Owen were delighted with their payday considering how little they had to actually wrestle!!
There was some shitty giicks in 95 but I liked over all,. And i liked issac yankeem, jean pieere lafite, golduzt, qwang, duke drose,. I didn't like mantaur or man mountain rock
My favorite part of this arc is how excited you all were to extend it to WM11 and how the excitement has been eroded more and more as we get further into the pit that is 1994-95 WWF.
I thought it was interesting how they essentially sacrificed two good workers (Owen and Backlund) in order to get over Bret's increase in aggression. Also funny how Bam Bam and Tatanka wrestled one year and tagged the next.
I truly needed an OSW episode right now. I hope you lads know how much you mean to the fans the content you put out has always put a smile on my face thank you all for the great work.
Unreal, like. Even though the average talent level of the roster today is orders of magnitude higher than '95, it's _still_ hard to find matches where the wrestlers look as, as you say, crisp and clean in everything they do as Bret (and he often had dross on the other side to _also_ try to make look like... not dross). I watched Cody vs. Seth I recently, which was a _relatively_ Hart-esque technical match between two seriously big names of the current era and even _that_ looked pretty sloppy at times compared to what Bret could do week-in-week-out. Something about the booking or that in NXT seems to produce cleaner technical bouts more often but, even then, getting to Bret's average level isn't super-common and, as for Bret vs. Owen I? Forget about it. Sami vs. Nakamura at NXT Takeover Dallas has _bits_ that are getting there (actually shocked me a bit because, while Nakamura's a legend, even as a massive Sami and KO mark, I had no idea he was capable of operating at that kind of level when the chains of his underdog status in WWE proper are off) but I wouldn't say consistently.
@@vcom741 He had a couple of great matches with Bret, you should go watch them. He also had a rarely talked about gem with Undertaker in Japan I'm 97 when Taker was champion.
@@vcom741 one good ppv match and one on Raw. add the SummerSlam match against Kid and that's basically all he did of note during his brief run. I guess it's not like he wasn't good (although at least during his WWF run he also wasn't great in the Michaels/Owen and Bret Hart sense, so he didn't carry less talented guys to worthwhile matches), but he hardly didn't have the right guys to work with.
I said this a few episodes ago, but I still don't understand why IRS never used the line "the only thing more certain than death... is taxes!" in his feud with The Undertaker. Like, how the hell do you miss that?
I’ve come to appreciate so much of wrestling’s history (from wwf/wwe, wcw, ECW and even more) from watching these guys. I wouldn’t know 90% of wrestling if it wasn’t from them. But they make it so fun to watch and learn
Thanks in no small part to you lads I have been re watching seasons 1-10 of the Simpsons for the first time in decades and you know what, it really was one of the best shows of all time. I can't wait to watch it with my kids one day so I can still be making simpson's references until I'm as senile as Abe Simpson
I’m not gonna lie I love it every time a new episode turns up on here. I’ve actually stopped watching wresting and simple watch these bad boys now! Keep up the good work boys❤️
Omg I'm so glad I found this gem, you boys are fkn hilarious, and I love me some 90's wrastlin , born in 84' so I like to think I grew up in the greatest generation of WWE.
@giftofgab247 His gimmick was ridiculous, but the guy could've been great had he not been Vince'd. Back then though one could stand up to Vince and tell him no(just look at Stone Cold/Ringmaster), but I guess Adam didn't have the balls to do it, or an idea to replace it with.
I thought he was badass as Wrath when I was a kid, thinking he was gonna have a big feud with Goldberg but than wcw did there typical shit booking and killed it. He was just too green in WWF.
Added notes on Dick Murdoch. He was a former WWE Tag champion with Adrian Adonis. 1 reign 279 days. And not coincidentally he was trained by Killer Karl Kox. Which may be where the whole Klan thing started
I live in Bradenton,Fl where that Raw was it was crazy they had fans actually wearing a few wcw shirts etc that were turned away even at this time.Love you guys keep up the amazing work!
I think it was because the entire show was pretty packed with real matches and it was going long. From everything we've heard, Pamela Anderson was great here and WM10 and was far from a diva unlike many WWF guests. She showed up willing to be very patient and do whatever they asked of her. Same with LT.
a 45m+ Rumble with the baseline talent they had in the WWE at the time might have actually killed someone in the crowd due to boredom. Like induce so much apathy their bodies would have just shut down.
The 95 rumble is a good example of using what you have and making the best out of a bad situation. The roster was very thin at the time but they were smart enough to keep two of the most established stars they had in the ring for the entire time so there was some interest in the match at all times. I don’t know why they had Owen and backlaund get eliminated so quickly though
@@Bubba__Sawyer My theory on Owen in particular is that, as I only three-quarters-jokingly said in another comment every single booker somehow forgot they had a Rumble to... book until it was announced and they realised their best bet (along with basically just making it HBK vs. Bulldog) was to book Owen to be eliminated early because they didn't have time to come up with enough ideas to actually use him. Seriously, though, what an insane choice. Owen, in particular, could have been relied upon to inject some much-needed excitement into what was mostly... nothing. Don't get me wrong, Backlund's obviously exceptionally skilled but his style probably doesn't work _as_ well for a crowded Rumble.
There's only 3 Reviews left in the road to Mania 11, WHAT A PITTANCE!!! (Excellent episode once again lads!) 1:09:55 seeing Hebner mouth "Aw fuck" or something to that effect when Drosey gets dumped onto him made me laugh even though I should be concerned for Hebner.
Yo! Big facts! When I seen the Jarrett/Razor match on PPV when I was a kid, I was pissed when Razor walked back into the ring just to lose the damn belt.
Booker T has always been one of my favorites. The scizzor kock and spin-a-roonie were always hype. Plus hist stint with Goldust was hilarious. Great character, and from what I've heard a nice guy too.
hey guys!! thanks for taking my advice on the ad break questionarium. i was wondering which episode it was going to show up on. definitely put a smile on my face. thanks again!! keep up the awesome work!!
35:06 "Brett's wearing mismatched denims. Like jeans & a top that are different tones." Oh Canada... the world appreciates your contributions to humanity.
Disgusting! I know that the laws in the US don't forbid the usage of the swastika and the SS-runes (ad opposed to here in Germany) but still: If someone shows up with that shit at your show just send him home. I hate the fact that these guys were allowed to compete in the WWF.
I wish I could remember the first time I heard the "What sound does 300 lbs of shit hitting the ring make - KWANG" joke because I say it in my head and laugh EVERY time I see him
The Royal Rumble was my first WWF PPV. I watched wrestling with my dad back in the days and he only watched WCW. Then I saw this and it blew me away. That was soo great back then. Loved Diesel, loved Shawn... made me a fan till today. Thanks for making me rewatching this
Hmm, convienant that they might completely skip over the disappearance of Tatanka. V1 is probably gonna keep del Ray in his stable and never have the shoe drop when he realizes Tatanka was suspended from the WWE for sexual assault charges that were dropped when it was proven Jimmy Del Ray was the culprit. Was really looking forward to that shoe drop tbh
LT is famous here in America for being not only one the top 5 greatest football players ever to play the game, but also for being out of his mind on coke the entire time!
