I was 21 and felt the same way. It wasn’t until years later that I understood the whole wrestling gig. However, these guys really do pound, slap and kick each other. And at other times, they will legitimately wrestle. It was scripted but there were times when they really pissed each other off and things would get very real….very quickly. I’m glad I was around for the golden years of wrestling because it truly was awesome.
"You trying to make a synapses about my lifestyle or something?" Macho might be the undisputed king of promos, because they sound so great, yet I don't understand a damn thing.
@@darthjohn0 Yeah, I just straight typed it wrong, and meant to type synopsis. Besides, it's the "unilateral" and squirrelly jacket part that's getting me.
The 'Evil Anvil' touching Bret Hart's hair, starts to say "There's nothing greas......" and sort of rubbing the grease between his fingers like 'oh wait' got me rolling! Mean Gene's little comment to 'The Hitman' saying "You perspire a lot." Those were days as the WWF was so much fun to watch. Pure entertainment.
Summerslam 92. Wembley Stadium. British Bulldog v Bret Hart. I was there. The best match ever in a Summerslam event. Brilliant finish to an awesome day. And Undertaker came down the aisle on a hearse. Damn, I wish I was 9 years old again.
Lol i wonder if that's how he got the job lol. That's what they did to Eric Bischoff when he tried out with the WWF to be an announcer. But I'm sure you knew that
WWF/WWE raw production footage like this is extremely rare, the old Titan library & newer digital archival methods make getting any outtakes out very difficult, if not impossible. There is some RAW satellite footage from between the commercial breaks, etc. where the announcers headsets & Kevin Dunn can be heard at the same time. Thanks so much for uploading this, great peek into the classic WWF era I grew up with.
This video is awesome in a way but also sad for all of the people on it that are no longer with us (Davey Boy, Dynamite Kid, The Anvil, Mean Gene and so on).
There’s a direct correlation between Bret’s overall state of happiness and his level of greasiness. Take away the grease, and he becomes a shell of himself.
Maybe that time he didn't discover his trademark laugh and pulling beard gimmick yet..and this was 1986 and I think he started doing that in 87' when they won the titles from the bulldogs....
lol Ricky Steamboat talking like he is amazed at the world and the US and he is from West point, NY! lol The kayfabe stuff always cracks me up looking back.
Mean gene has the best promo interviews! No one will ever be better or replace him! I wish he was still doing promos before his passing in the wwe 😭 RIP mean Gene!
Anyone listening with headphones? There's a constant background white noise that sounds like a mic control centre or even someone's personal stereo (walkman?) Is it just electrical interference or static noise or what? I'm not technically minded but definitely intrigued.
'Mean Gene' Okerlund was a pro's pro as a Professional Wrestling interviewer. He would have been great at interviewing world leaders while inserting a few choice comments.
Man I loved Mean Gene in those days. I grow up with Gordon Solie announcing Georgia Championship Wrestling without much emotion but very astute. Then I saw mean Gene and said this is the greatest guy to announce and interview wrestlers
@@timothyward2082 Safe but for the rather large contingent of people who characterize Savage as an overprotective monster who doomed his own marriage. Moron.
As a impressionable kid at the time I actually thought The Wild Samoans were wild and couldn't speak english until one night while at MSG Andre The Giant shoved Sika who responded by saying you pushing me you motherffffff, just then the crowd got loud and I couldn't hear the rest but from that point on I realized wrestling wasn't real. lol
