I just wanted to say that your research is honestly amazing! I find the art not only playfully cartoonish but also extremely accurate. It would have been really easy to just use the same generic rifle cut out for all the videos, but you decided to portray actual weapons instead. I mean look at this, Mosins and 95 Winchesters as a cartoon! This attention to detail I greatly appreciate, keep up the good work!
Simple History I agree with this guy, you tell,us all the facts! Subscribed after one video. This history is important to me, especially because my great grandpa was in the Italian army in Ww1.
Russians were fighting Ottomans during WWI in the caucasus mountains, and just after the WWI when russian civil war broke out, were lot of revolts in these territory against a (communist) government in Moscow, but newly formed red army crushed all rebelions in these area till 1920.
Russia was an interesting army because they were one of the countries that started the Great War. They had so much going on at their homeland and the troops werent able to help.
By them starting the war I meant they were one of the first major countries to enter the war, sorry if I worded it incorrectly. I don't understand why I have to justify why they entered the war though
Ya, what a mistake it was for the Russians to change their plan. Wonder what would have happened if they initially threw everything at Germany instead of splitting.
@@bluesteel8376 the Russian army will push much deeper into Prussia and probably even close to Berlin, it will forced the German to send a lot of their troops in the Western Front to the east, the Schlieffen Plan would still failed and with even more casualties than in our timeline. Germany may not send much help to Austria-Hungary because their forces will be overstretched to protect both of their flank. The stalemate happened in the western Front may happened in the eastern front
@@febrian0079 The Austrians could counterattack the Russians while they are busy in East Prussia causing them to divert troops to defend their borders against Austria.
It's a short video so they may not have had time. Ultimately all there is to say about that is the Russian Army made huge gains but suffered horrible casualties and effectively collapsed within a year.
Ed Skrein it was certainly not. It was Russia's most successful offensive in the war, but not the largest. The largest were the Somme, and the 3 Battles of Ypres.
The Slav Of Lunacy The Brusilov Offensive had more casualties in a shorter time than the Battle of the Somme and the battles of Ypres if you count them individually.
You didn't mentioned the war with Japan, which was also going on during ww1. Actually Japan was part of the allies, this allowed them to take over pacific islands that belonged to Germany, but it didn't stabilize its tensions with Russia over Manchuria, the kurils and Sakhalinsk
My great great granfather who fought in ww1 in the Russian Empire in 1915 to 1917 in 1917 he fought the Bolsheviks (communists) in a battalion along Alexander Vasilyech and until 1921 my granfather got captured and he got executed in a firing squad...I still have his officer's Overcoat, his holster, his visor cap, and his sword
I'm sorry for that my great great great grandfather died in WW1 he was in the Australian army fighting at Gallipoli I have only a photo of him but Australia fought in the entire war Russia only fought for 3 years in the war I know why
Could have at least state the positive side to Russia in ww1, they fought well against the Ottomons, help defend Paris and why not mention operation Brusilov Offensive? The Russian army fought the ottomans, Austria Hungry and German army and won massive battles, and why not point out when Russia left they literally broke the back of the Austrian army and even made Germany halt their western campaign to push back Russia. Nice vid but very poor details. (2.5 out of 5)
Soundwave 47 well because at that time the Ottomans were treated as a joke militarily. Although to be fair Russia did outmatched the Austro-Hungarians 1v1. Only the Germans with their modern artillery and superior officer corps were able to deal masssive defeats to Russia. Imperial Russia a forgotten Entente power with its massive contributions during WW1.
Might seem like an odd question, but how many people co-operate to create these videos? They are quite simple and seem to help even the slightest bit sometimes.
@@velterianpact5266 a draw? What do you mean? It was a Russian victory, they effectively advanced miles into Austro Hungarian territory. During the advance he also cripped the Austrians army and with that their will to fight. Yes both sides lossed many men but that doesn't determine whether a war, battle or operation is won or lost. For example, ww2 eastern front or even the American Civil War, the winning sides in both conflicts suffered more deaths than the losing side.
Poland was conquered by Russia in 1813. And there was under the Russian boot 1813-1917. In 1917 there was a revolution in Russia, the country has been weakened. The Poles took advantage of this and radically out of Russia ended in 1919. With the support of European crowd. But In 1939 Russia recovered after the revolution and took those Polish lands that are wanted. And from 1944-1989, Poland was again under the Russian boot. Poland once again became independent after the new revolution in Russia. Temporal independence of Poland. But Russian boots already waiting again.
Олег Нурбаев Well, that could just prove that when you stand on Poland with a boot, Poland is gonna eat it off and become independent again, until you use your other foot.
1:25 they did finally found Anastasia 's body , and her assumed husband, with bullets in the back of their heads , and shallow graved in the back yard. So much for Disney's romance of them excaping.
you forgot mention Caucasian front. Large amount of casualities of Russia were caused by Ottomans and vica versa. Afer fighting Russians at Kars, Ottomans considered Gallipoli as a walk in a park.
nuraly78 Gallipolli was a fail from the start, being from New Zealand we study Gallipolli alot in school and it makes you wonder what the commanders were thinking
Not A Ranga inexperienced ANZAC soldiers were fighting on unfavourable terrain against Ottoman crack troops armed by Germans. It is a miracle that your forefathers were able to evacuate succesfuly. Lots of respect to them
What are you talking about?" The Russian army killed 1.5 million of your donkeys who were ruled by Germany . You were taking the role of cannon fodder to divert Russian troops to the Turkish border .the Russian army has reached Ankara it is not necessary to gloss over it and not to speak about it, the Russian army has carried out many crushing offensives which speak about your losses for themselves .Do not be proud of the fact that you threw us corpses you are very lucky that in Russia began a civil war that actually saved you from defeat .When you fought against us one on one why did you lose ?Answer that question yourself.
@@topcheats7570 Russsian army doesn't reaches Ankara YOU Idiot also we must Fought in many fronts against Super powers and also Armrnian Arab rebels Fight also against the Ottomans
You forgot to mention one of the signature weapons issued to Russian soldiers: Nothing. Some soldiers had to run into the enemy unarmed and wait for an armed soldier to die before they could get a gun.
Lol. Stupid bullshit. Only morons believe in such crap. At the beginning of the war Russian artillery had lack of shells and germans could make more artillery shots, 2-3 times more, that's it.
1:36 austro hungary was also a threat, or even a greater one. I mean, it would be if any two soldiers in any austro- hungarian army spoke the same language.
I notice there you have not really made any videos about Fascist Italy during WWII and Benito Mussolini. Are you going to include them in any video anytime soon? Thanks.
Ya’ll little creps better stop commenting “Nothing on Brusilov offensive?” and “No Attack Of The Dead Men?”, they didn’t have time to put that in this video, they made them separate videos, so stop your whining and watch them bruh
I don't know, but I was frustrated at a lack of animated videos on youtube looking at individual historical events for each video, so wanted to do something about it :P
How could they build such a large military force with poor industrial implementations? Was it only the army that was powerful in size, or dud they also have large amount of vehicles and artillery?
they didn't have as much artillery as the germans but the russian army was definitely not backward. they experimented with tanks before ww1 and were the first to use armored cars in 1914. howewer, the russian industry was just building up and expected to overcome the german in 1917. the war really caught russia in the worst possible time.
You are completely right, the war caught us in not the best time, moreover, there was political turmoil in the Empire. Industrialists and officials all made it worse, and the generals betrayed the King ,for which they paid
Lol. Moron. .Russia was one of the most industrial countries in the word. Temps of development of the russian industry were highest in the world at the beginning of 20 century. Russian economy was in the same line with Britain, France, Germany, USA. But Germany was No1 of course.
Daniel That text is about struggle of workers that took place in all European and North-American countries but on different level, of course, and not direct explanation, not picture of economical situation. Russia had longest railroads in the world and actively built new ones. Russia, before WW1 built that longest railroad from European part to Pacific coast through Sibera - Transsib and actively built new factories and plants and attracted investments. Russia overrun many other countries in some aspects - metals productions, grain exports, etc. Maybe Russia was the country that was least interested in that war. Russia was in the middle of economical and political reforms, though rotten monarchy was reactional force. I am saying that everything was bright and excellent. But to say that everything was very very bad and Russia was dying due to economical reasons is not truthful also. By the way, WW1 also had goal to cool down, to reduce or even to eliminate struggle of working classes in all capitalist countries. Strikes are not directly related to bad economical situation.
The Tsar really screwed up in WWI. He should've just stayed out of the war or at least pulled out of the war when it was obvious that the empire was not doing well
