Well of course it works. It’s only worked for over 500 years now lol! The only thing I wouldn’t put it in is Swede.

What do you have against a Swede? Sweden is a wonderful country. I hear...they even make great shoes out of suede.

mind you that it was mostly used for veg tan leather. most modern leathers (not all by any means) are chrome tanned, and there are better solutions than 'classic' dubbin (but the difference isn't as great, and if you are happy with dubbing than just use it)

I mix Dubbins with Huberds and a little Minwax furniture wax for treatment on my work boots 2X/year, keeps them water tight and well conditioned. I clean them well and pre heat the leather and mixture first then brush and buff.

when kept dry, the dubbin doesn't go bad. and apart from heating the leather you can also heat the tin with dubbin so it's more like lard (consistency - wise). great for boots, but only for those without the membrane

Is that the same as mink oil?
@simongrushka983
@simongrushka983 Год назад
no, it's not. dubbin is a mixture of 3 ingredients (in roughly equal proportions): beeswax, tallow (rendered suet- cows kidney fat) and fish oil.
