This Soundies from the Office of Emergency Management highlights three service songs. First, Anchors Aweigh sung by Conrad Thibault. Second, The Caissons Go Rolling Along, sung by Robert Weede and produced by the Office for Emergency Management. Finally, The Marines' Hymn, produced by the Office of War Information and Bureau of Motion Pictures. Soundies were an early version of the music video, produced between 1940 and 1946.

When music videos from the 40s make you want to enlist more than any modern recruitment ad. Then again it's easy to beat "a story of a girl with two moms" if you know *that* ad

All ships in navy video had built before 1941. I've not see NC and SD class battleships and Yorktown class carriers. In the US army video, all helmet are M1917(?), not M1. M2 and M3 medium(Grant/Lee) tanks but without M4 medium(Sherman) tanks. Many 37mm ATGs footage but no 57mm or 76mm ATGs involved. In the USMC video should recorded after US entered war, many marines were wearing M1 helmets. Great footage, I'd never saw M2 medium tanks in videos before.

Also, in the Army video the soldiers look like they're driving an early American Bantam Jeep, made before Willys and Ford took over production in 1941. Look at the curved grille shell.

What I love about the Anchors Aweigh video is that they actually fired the actual shells in filming, unlike some Japanese recruitment video. The gun in the Japanese video just go POOF and there's some tiny trail of smoke, no recoil or anything.
