Read many history books on the World War 2 era. Most history books concetrate on the battles and things that caused the war. Thanks for demonstrating the average soldier. With the uniforms and the uses of weapons, rifles and handguns. Things of typical daily life of a soldier.

I wonder which uniforms my grandparents saw. My grandma lived in the city during the early parts of the Japanese invasion and then they moved to the hills and went back to the coastal areas and city when the Americans returned. My grandpa for the most part lived in the province after his family escaped Manila. He likely saw the stretch of the fighting that was part of the Leyte Battle because he saw strange lights in the sky, rumbles probably of naval guns and kept seeing dogfights even at night near the end of the war.

Where can I find that opening clip of Japanese soldiers marching? The soldiers are marching along Escolta Street the former business district, the building at the center is the bell tower of Santa Cruz Church in Manila. 4:25 His bayonet should be the US M1917 bayonet for the M1917 rifle, the Japanese did captured lots of them too. It's a nice detail that the version of the Type 30 bayonet also changes as the war progressed.
@hattorihan7503
@hattorihan7503 6 месяцев назад
The clip is from the propaganda movie Dawn of Freedom (1944). So far, all of the photos I've seen of Japanese troops with M1917 rifles were equipped with Type 30 bayonets. It could theoretically fit the M1917 rifle if the bayonet's barrel hole was enlarged but it is unclear if they did so.

i guess your mother's family is lucky for not being hunted down as collaborators or as makapili. In Bulacan my grandfather joined the resistance after the Japanese captured and killed all the men in their town. He was the only one who escaped due of him working in the field but his parents and brothers didn't. He fought the Japanese and the collaborators with their unit and they even killed a Japanese officer which he has the katana stored albeit damaged and used as weed cutter in the fields. He often told me stories that when the Americans returned his resistance unit were recognize and supplied with better weapons then hunter down the collaborators, he recall how a woman who often collaborate with the Japanese and even led them to kill people that she hated saying they are part of resistance. She was dragged and beaten to death by the entire town then hanged her body until the Americans convince them to put it down off which the people comply but they didn't stop and mutilated it before being thrown to an abandoned pig farm where the corpse was eaten by the pigs. He later joined in during the battle of Manila as adhoc and security to Filipinos who managed to escape the city and sorted out the collaborators. His last battle was during the push to the north where a lot of resistance fighters and units joined in and capture Baguio. He still hated the Japanese after his family was murdered and even to this day without the apology from the Japanese

@@joshuajoaquin5099 my great grandfather was a soldier of the 1st republic , when the republic fell and aguinaldo captured , he was not given a heroes welcome , rather the country he fought for was looking unto him like a traitor . After the conflict with the americans he gained his lost land to the Spanish and started life as a farmer and then running for a barangay level captain . When the japanese arrive he was acknowledge by them and gave him honorary he didn't expected from anyone , he was grateful to the japanese that they were available to acknowledge his contribution to his country which failed to honor him after the americans won .... After ww2 he was forgiven and the people regretted for looking down on our family as he served under the revolutionary republic , ultimately my family gained political gains until one of our generation decided to drop the political line in favor of medical and law enforcing

One scene showed a captured M-1917 Enfield. Used by American forces in WW-1. The M-1917 was used by American forces on the Philippine Islands, New Guinea and New Caledonia. The only reason these captured American weapons were used by the Japanese was because of all the captured ammunition. A gun with no ammunition is not useful. The American M-1917 was chambered in 30-06 Springfield. The British Enfield rifles were chambered in .303 British. America made a lot of rifles for the British during WW-1.
@hattorihan7503

I don’t think there were much P14 rifles in the Pacific theater, but if you are reenacting the later battles in the Philippines then you can use it as a replacement for the M1917 Enfield since they are almost the same except the cartridge.

@@hattorihan7503 It's just that this is my only rifle that I can buy in Russia, and they are sold in small quantities, that is, rarely. I wanted to use it for the Civil War of 1917-1922. But I haven't decided to get carried away yet and I'm most fixated on the Japanese army. And, as it turned out, a similar rifle was spotted in the Pacific Ocean. We also have a large shortage of Arisaka type 38 rifles in Russia, it is unrealistic to find them. In the meantime, I can use the Arisaka type 38 airsoft. But, according to the law, only non-combat rifles can be used at historical festivals, namely training ones with simulated shots. Therefore, it is difficult to get Arisaka in Russia.I was surprised when you announced that the price of Arisaki in your USA is very cheap in our rubles, if translated.I use Google Translator, the text may be distorted
