We continue our WWII Small Arms Series. Jeremiah and Mike Venturino discuss the history, care, loading and shooting these old WWII small arms. This episode is on the British No. 4 MK I.
The "T" in No.4T stands for telescopic rather than target, this is a nod to the fact that it has a telescopic sight attached! Regarding the cheek pieces for the butt; it's my understanding that they were fitted by Holland & Holland who set the No.4 T's up for sniper use and not the various small arms factories that initially made the rifles.
I spent a few years behind a mk5 Burmese jungle carbine. Slickest bolt action for repeater follow up shots. Remington .303 11:05 ammo I had was only good for 2 1/2" groups at 90yds. Maybe 3" if your eyes were tired
Cock on closing the bolt gives a significantly faster rate of fire. See bloke on the range mad minute.. The best bolt action Combat rifle ever made. I'm a biased Canadian that grew up shooting Lee Enfields.
That is really neat! That rifle is certainly a keeper! One of these days I want to get one of these rifles, I just think it would be a whole lot of fun to play with! --Jeremiah
