I am in tears over this video. It really touched my heart as my Father and his 2 brothers all served in WWII. My Uncle was a POW in Germany. I'm so thankful that this family got this opportunity to travel where their Husband and Father once served and to receive such an amazing treasure !!

My precious father was shipped from a small town called Jefferson, Iowa to the South Pacific out of high school. He ended up in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. He suppressed all his memories for 50 years until they all came flooding back when he visited the Philippines in 1995. I miss you so much PaPa.

My uncle was with the Saskatoon Light Infantry near Regalbuto on August 4 and was wounded but remained on duty. He received the military medal for gallenty. He was one of the lucky ones to come home. Did he suffer trauma, most definitely. They were brave young men

I found a letter in my Mother's things after she died it was a letter that a young man had wrote to her just days after the war ended. I tracked down his family and finally got in touch with one of his daughters. I sent her the letter and a picture of him. 🙂

I am a Vietnam War Veteran 1966-67 who as some wrote their names and wars that we were in under the butt stock plate of our rifles. I think that started in WW1 but not sure...

@@kylegawron5358 Are you on Ancestry? Start by grouping your highest DNA matches into colour coded groups as provided by Ancestry. Start with the ones you know for sure and then look at your shared matches. I use blues and greens for my paternal side and reds and yellows for my maternal side so it's easy to see at a glance. If you have a paid membership you can look at the trees of your matches and see where they fit in.

Hello Kyle! Thanks for exploring your family history on Ancestry. We're sorry to hear of any confusion and will be happy to provide some assistance. We would recommend to start by building your own family tree and to link it with your DNA results, if you haven't done so already. Begin by adding any information you already have, or can gather from family members. The articles below should help you get started: Getting Started, Lesson 1: Starting Your Tree: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Lesson-1-Starting-Your-Tree Getting Started, Lesson 2: Building Your Tree: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Lesson-2-Building-Your-Tree Linking an AncestryDNA® Test to a Tree: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Linking-an-AncestryDNA-Test-to-a-Tree When the foundation of your tree is set up you can begin to look for more information across historical records and public family trees. You can also review your DNA results (especially your matches) more closely. We recommend reviewing the guides below: Getting Started, Lesson 3: Finding Records: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Lesson-3-Finding-Records Getting Started, Lesson 4: Collaboration: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Lesson-4-Collaboration Getting Started, Lesson 5: Search Tips: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Getting-Started-Lesson-5-Search-Tips Making the Most of AncestryDNA® Matches: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Making-the-Most-of-AncestryDNA-Matches Making the Most of Your Ethnicity Estimate: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Making-the-Most-of-Your-Ethnicity-Estimate We hope this is helpful and wish you much success with your family research!

Hi, Karin. Thanks for getting in touch. We can certainly understand that you'd be interested in learning more about your family in WWII. The good place to learn about WWII would be our website Fold3. Fold3 is a website that has mostly military records. Maybe you'd like to give it a try.
