A comprehensive tutorial for sound designers on how to use the popular middleware Wwise and integrate it with events in the Unity 3D game engine. Tutorials by Michael Zull.
I am absolutly happy that you did show the integration of Wwise in Unity so detailled! Yesterday I saw a lot of other videos and I was much confused. But you showed the integration in Unity step by step, so that I am more optimistic for my further works now. Thank you for that brillant video and I am keen to continue in this new field with much better prospects of success.
Not dissing the first section as a slow-build setup guide, but you might want to preface the video by saying that half of this long video is skippable.
Hey Michael, I just wanted to give a shout-out, and thank you for creating these videos. Your series has been one of the most helpful in my Wwise / Unity / Sound Design endeavors, and I've referenced the videos many times. Stay cool, man!
this video is amazing although there is nothing for me new in unity section but i watch it and wwise section is just great.thanks man for this great stuff.keep it up.
Is there any other assets in the store that could be use for sound design practice? I have problems importing this one, 12 compiling errors and 64 obsolete Build
I’m a musician and a bit of a computer nerd but I haven’t got a clue what he’s talking about. Okay I’ve been listening whilst running and not watching.....but all he seems to have been doing is moving assets about between folders. He hasn’t explained what each piece of software actually does or any of the terminology? Can anybody point me in the way of something that is for absolute complete and utter beginners to all this?
Hey Thank you for the video, I try to do the same things with unity 2018 and wwise 2017 but impossible to get sound. Do you know if the listener script changed ?
Hi, I'm working through these videos at the moment but when I play the project I have no sound. Checked that unity audio is enabled and that I don't have anything muted. Any ideas as to why I might be having this problem? I'm working on mac. Cheers
Yeah I'm in the same boat. When I try putting in the Ak event into the script it comes up as red and cannot compile saying the line of code is not in the context of the project.
Hey dude. What you have to do is copy the FirstPersonController script into a folder that you create at the root level Assets\Scripts. This way, the script will be able to communicate with the AkSoundEngine. Currently, that script is probably buried under the Assets\Standard Assets\Characters\FirstPersonCharacter\Scripts path. Hope this helps!
This. Check out the video at about 6:50 for moving the FPS controller out of Standard Assets and into the root of your project Assets folder so that Wwise can reference it.
Hey I have problems (at 24:19= when you modified teh FPS controller script: It cant find AkSoundEngine.PostEvent. Any Thoughts? Do I have to initialize the wwise api or something first? THX
I figured it out, with your scripts, they need to all be in the same folder or the player controller script will not know what the AkSoundEngine code means. I went to my Wwise folder and found the script located in Extensions and put the Player controller script in the same Extensions folder. It took a while to figured that out lol
I gotta say you probably lose a lot of people's trust when you delete those nodes when you say you have no idea what they are for.... You know a lot, as a presenter though you shot yourself in the foot. Half the class checked out right there I bet. Watched it through and learned a lot. Thanks.
