Wyatt Williams of Oregon Department of Forestry joined ECOP at our September 2023 meeting for a presentation about a new oak pest in Oregon, the Mediterranean Oak Borer. Wyatt has been with the Forest Health Unit of the Oregon Department of Forestry since 2012 as the agency’s Invasive Species Specialist. His projects at ODF include aerial and ground surveys for insects and diseases and education and training of foresters, arborists and landowners for invasive species like emerald ash borer and Mediterranean oak borer. Wyatt received a PhD in Entomology from Colorado State University (2012) and a Master’s of Science of degree from Boise State University (2007).
