This Tasmania trip kicked off with a bang as the Colorado broke down about an hour from home. The rest of the crew managed to make their overnight boat to Tassie, but we had to re-schedule and do a day sail which allowed us time to fix the Colorado.
When we arrived in Tassie we made b-line for any campsite that we could find. Lilydale Falls it was, the waterfalls are worth a look. We re-joined the rest of the gang at the Little River Brewery in Scottsdale before heading towards the track up to Wyniford Weir.
The track is a short low range track with a heap of rock gardens. Most of us took a couple of attempts at different sections of the track, but overall its a great track. Challenging but doable in a car with a bit of clearance and decent tyres.
At the top we go and explore the weir before Phil cooks up a nice feed.

Awesome 👌 the y62 would be fun down there. Get it out on the dunes

That was wholesome fun with the kids. Cool track! Thinking of getting rid of my Colorado 7. Has been good, but feel like I need a dual cab. The kids always scratch it climbing up and down from the roof topper and no room for camp gear and fire wood inside when wet. What dual cabs would you recommend for same sort of stuff you do? I love that 79 but probably out of the budget

Yeah was good Adventure for the kids. Gee that's a tough one, have never owned a Ute, but yeah totally understand the need for more space. Colorado wagon is lacking.

Yeah was a cool way to start the trip. Yeah having dramas with the Disco, was never the same after that time it snapped a line in the cooling system and dumped the coolant.

@@OutdoorsCBR I feel his pain! I Have a Rangie Sport (Same age as the Disco) and I popped a hose off towing the van up to the dargo high plains (12 months ago) and the cooling system has been a saga ever since... Such a bummer!

Greetings from Russia! Belt tensioner on 2.8 diesel engines of Colorado/ Trailblazer sucks... I got tired and bought a custom adapter to install a more advanced tensioner from Volvo truck (FM12, FM10). Hopefully it will last longer...
@OutdoorsCBR
@OutdoorsCBR Год назад
Russia!! No way! Welcome. That's interesting hey. That's the second tensioner through this car aswell. Will try google the Volvo truck thing you are talking about. Would be interested to see it

@azlerche Год назад
@@OutdoorsCBR yep. Colorado 7 under Trailblazer badge MY13 was sold in our country from 2012-15. After testing the new tensioner myself, my old one is already squecking, I will post a detailed description and installation process. However one of our clubmates has been using a DIY adapter with a truck tensioner for 28k kilometres and 500 eng hrs already.

@OutdoorsCBR
@OutdoorsCBR Год назад
Thanks Terry. Hmm the age old question. 🤔 Such a nice car to scratch and bash offroad. BUT, hitting the road with the y62, caravan and fam later in the year. Bound to find some low range, wheel lifting action then!!!!

@@OutdoorsCBR sounds great! I’ve seen your rig around the north side, I’m a Y62 as well it’s our tow and touring vehicle, we are off to the cape this year between term 3&4. Headin up that way?

@@terrygilchrist4543 ah nice! What colour is your 62? We are heading into SW QLD first, then do a loop of QLD. Unsure if we'll head up to Cape.

Having trouble finding braided brake lines for the 2012 collie7. Managed to get fronts, but appears the back ones are for a ute. Any help would be appreciated.
@OutdoorsCBR
@OutdoorsCBR 9 месяцев назад
Mine were custom made. Go to a brake specialist and see if they can make some up. It should be no trouble. You might need to get measurements for them though

Yeah mate. It's been on all of the 4wd trips and videos. Travelling QLD in the Y62 and van at the moment so it will be a fee months before the Collie is hitting the tracks and trips again.
