The Wooden Boat Association QLD organises regular events we call Messabouts, this Messabout was a day trip out to Green Island in Moreton Bay out from Wynnum / Manly Harbour, it was a beautiful fine day with a SSE to ESE breeze 12-16 knots with a fair swell out from the harbour there was an incoming tide so when we stopped for morning tea we took refuge in a small bay on the south western corner of the Island, there is shallow water here so I don't advise going in there on outgoing tide. There was one Bay cruiser in attendance which was anchored out from the beach where we had morning tea, and 6 smaller boats 5 sail boats & one runabout.
Sailing out to the Island I found it too uncomfortable to sail with the main up so I dropped the main and sail with the Genoa & Mizzen only which made for a much more comfortable sail. I left the Island with a reef in the main sail again this was very uncomfortable and difficult to control the boat so I eventually drop the main and sail ack with Genoa and Mizzen again. You will see the boat sailing by its self when I drop the main, the boat is still sailing at 4.5 to 5.5 knots with the genoa & mizzen.
