Wynonna sings a touching rendition of the Elvis Presley classic "Blue Christmas" on the TV special "David Foster's Christmas Album" (NBC, December 10, 1993).
This song is from David Foster's Christmas CD, which features an all-star cast performing some of the best Christmas music of the 1990s:

Johnny Mandel's bittersweet orchestral arrangement is quite beautiful and moving, perfectly expressing the underlying sadness of the lyrics. David Foster would later use this arrangement again, on Celine Dion's "These Are Special Times" CD... but I think that Wynonna's version is the better one.

This is the absolute finest rendition of Blue Christmas I've ever heard. Wynonna sings it so beautifully and the orchestra is second to none in providing such a superb backup. Whenever I hear this song, it brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me of that special someone I was once engaged to that I haven't seen in 51 years. Wynonna, thank you so much!

This is my favorite version of "Blue Christmas" - period. I didn't realize how beautiful the song was until I heard Wynonna sing it.

Oh yes - the arrangement, the orchestration - everything is sublime. But Wynonna's vocals - listen to the way she sings the word "heartache" - she does something with these lyrics no one else can do. David Foster's "A Christmas Album" is one of my seasonal favorites. And "Blue Christmas" is my favorite cut.

I have a Judd fan since I was 3 years old lol!! My mom says everytime they came on the radio I would go crazy signing and dancing...I even asked Santa for a LP of them when I was 5 lol!! I love her soo much and she is very underrated by the radio & the main stream music industry!! I wish they played her music more often!!!

I agree, this is one of the finest renditions of this song ever. I'm surprised that it doesn't get more airplay every Christmas. In my radio market, it never gets played anymore. Producer David Foster later used a similar arrangement when he produced Celine Dion's Christmas album, but I think that Wynonna's version is better.

Elvis would love her voice. I think she is one of the best female singers out there as Elvis was the greatest male singer. They both have soul....PEACE

There's only 1 women on this planet that truly can knock me on my ass, and its this beautiful red headed goddess right here.Iv'e seen her in concert, and Iv'e seen her & her mom both in concert.I have her Xmas cd as well as all of her music.I don't know what's more gorgeous, her presence or her voice.So I will call it a tie.She is just so beautiful.She is a darling.Thanks to WY, & for posting this.She is so gifted,& she is so nice to share that gift with us.Shes a true angel.

I agree. Most artists who cover this song produce versions that sound like... well, covers. Wynonna somehow manages to make it sound new. This version is very underrated, I think. I'm surprised it doesn't get more airplay every Christmas.

I agree, but I think it's the combination of Wynonna's voice and the great arrangement. Celine Dion used a similar arrangement on her Christmas CD, but it just isn't as good as this one.

My dream was to always meet her.But to drive up someone house who made fun of her and I stuck up for Wy and boy did he evet tell me off . But when your middle class who cares But if your rich you ill be on the list .But I havr fought the good fight..I have finished the race, and I have kept my FAITH AND IF YOU DON,t know it's a Bible verse ..And that, s all I have to say it keeps mr going on my weakest day .now im turning off my phone brcause I dont believe in fb no more
