I'm from Japan and I've been listening to this beautiful and sacred song since I was a little child. Today is the Christmas day of 2023. I hope that everyone in the world will be able to live in peace.
This song should be the anthem for the entire world...regardless of season. The lyrics are so spot on..and Natalie and David do such a bang up job. Thanks for the post!!!Kudos to All!!
What a lovely voice Natalie had, free of all the yodelling embellishment and croaky noises so many singers today like to indulge in. Her singing was pure, straight, and pretty.
I know Natalie had her demons to deal with, but she NEVER surrendered that talent, straight from the Creator! Natalie was the very definition of an artist who could interpret a song...a lyric and make us feel the things we were to inhibited to feel, emotions that we tucked away, and love we were too shy to let go. This song, especially required a sensitivity and simplicity from a pure talent. She bared her soul and let us in...a privilege that fortunately will live on through her recordings. Kudos to you David Foster for not only writing a beautiful, classic song but having the foresight to let one of the world's great talents sing it for us. God bless you Natalie!
Unfortunately, one of the greatest female voices on the planet is no longer with us. R.I.P. Natalie Cole. In this year, where many singers have died, Natalie gets forgotten about on a lot of retrospectives, and more attention is paid to Bowie, Prince etc. I always remember Nat's performances on "Christmas In Vienna". Powerful stuff, and an underrated talent. Now, she can see her father again.
A song that David Foster gave to us. What a gift of true love for our world and all that is in it! Natalie Cole was a delicate gifted musician using her voice so well.
This is the original version of this song and its so beautiful... I remember when it came out in 1989 Christmas season and it stuck with me ever since. The arrangement is perfect and Natalie’s voice is full of emotion. Everytime i hear this version i can’t help but listen to it carefully.
This is the best (and original) version of this beautiful Christmas (carol) song. Natalie Cole's rendition of this lovely song was simply beautiful. David Foster was great playing the piano and providing background vocal (2nd voice) to this No.1 favourite Christmas song of mine for all time. 😉
@@Jinaria101 Amy Grant recorded it a couple of years later on her Christmas album, but Natalie Cole was the original singer circa 1990. Amy Grant also added a lyric to the song for an updated writing credit on the song for the 1992 version. Another great cover is Kelly Clarkson's version. But I think this is the best and original.
This song always makes me cry but even more now that our country is in such and peril and division anger boiling over hatred spewing forth from people our country is divided and I'm frightened the lyrics to this song are pertinent right now
By far, the best performance of this song, which I have loved for several years now, and consider a Holiday/Christmas classic! Thanks, David and Natalie!
I'm thinking that Natalie is singing this wondrous tune with her father Nat in Heaven this Christmas 2021. Thanks, Natalie Cole and David Foster! A Hopeful and Love-filled Christmas 2021 to one and all -- in Heaven AND on Earth! Remember in prayer those who lost loved ones and their homes during the horrific tornadoes of December 10, 2021 and a few days later. God in Christ, provide all of them with a true Heavenly miracle.
I don't hear this version on the radio anymore. Natalie Cole is the original and best version. Thank you Natalie and David Foster for a wonderful deep moving Christmas Song. The other song I don't hear anymore these days is "Here is Christmas" from the Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart). That is my 2nd favorite.
She performed this Classic with the London Symphony Orchestra 🎤🎹🎻🎶🎵 Ms. Natalie 🙏🏾 you are truly missed and you and your Son are eternally together 🙏🏾 Gone too soon! 🕊️
I refuse to listen to anyone else sing this but Natalie and David........she is the only one who can bring me to tears on this each and every time I hear it. Simple and not overdone. Splendid.
It's 2023 and almost another New Year is coming and I still love to listen to Natalie's original rendition of this simple but powerfull song.I feel sad for the world because life is becoming harder nowadays, humanity is declining. This Grown-up Christmas Wish will always be our wish, hoping it'll all come to reality.
This beautiful Christmas song carries a message that will live on forever. The wish above everything else in a troubled world today .is that elusive Peace on Earth. No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start, and time would heal all hearts. Every man would have a friend That right would always win and love would never end.. This is my grown up Christmas list.
Would love to go back in time when when life was simple and Xmas ment a lot to people. I guess I'm old stock and still believe in old time growing up. Simple time but best time.
Do you remember me I sat upon your knee I wrote to you With childhood fantasies Well, I'm all grown up now Can you still help somehow I'm not a child But my heart still can dream So here's my lifelong wish My grown-up Christmas list Not for myself But for a world in need No more lives torn apart That wars would never start And time would heal all hearts Every man would have a friend That right would always win And love would never end This is my grown-up Christmas list What is this illusion called The innocence of youth Maybe only in their blind belief Can we ever find the truth There'd be no more lives torn apart And wars would never start And time would heal all hearts Every man would have a friend And right would always win And love would never end This is my grown-up Christmas list This is my only lifelong wish This is my grown-up Christmas list
This song brings tears to my eyes! The message is so heartfelt. The melody is beautiful. David Foster is a creative genius, and Natalie Cole is a remarkable talent! I also recommend: The Spirit Of Christmas by John Starley Allen (new version) If you're like me, your eyes will tear up....
>>Hey guys........if you like "My Grown Up Christmas List" Mariah Carey's ex boyfriend Luis Miguel does the BEST verson of this song EVER. Just look up on youtube the following...... Luis Miguel Mi Humilde Oracion.... You won't be sorry :)
I think this has become my favorite Christmas song. Natalie's version is the first one I heard way back in the 90's and is my all time favorite. Natalie had a great voice.
A big artist with a unique voice Natalie Cole sang some beautiful songs over the years and this was a true gem She was one of the best female vocalists and unfo she left us too soon like Whitney Houston A really moving song
What a beautiful song! Clearly not new, but I've kind of discovered it for real this year and have listened to it a hundred times or so it seems. Lovely.
This song and version will always be one of my top three Christmas songs, with ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Mary Did you Know’. Bless you in Heaven Natalie, singing forever with your daddy.♥️🎶♥️🎄 Merry Christmas 2017 everyone🕊 Pray for Peace ☮️
Heartfelt!.....Made my cry. so appropriate for the times that we're living in, just look at what we're going through right now. I agree 100% with Bobbie 1957. It's definitely the second best Christmas song of all time. There's no question about, the Christmas song by her father is #1. In my opinion The four most beautiful Christmas songs are: (1) The Christmas song by Nat King Cole. (2) Grown up Christmas list by Natalie Cole. (3) Someday at Christmas by Stevie Wonder. (4) White Christmas by Bing Crosby. Let's hope that someday that all of these wishes on this list will be granted. Maybe it won't be in our lifetime ----But maybe, someday Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!!
Have you heard the song, "Old City Bar" by the Trans Siberian Orchestra? It's not only my favorite Christmas song, it's my favorite song of all time. You should check it out.
Bach here again it's 12/1/2022 and Natalie sings this amazing Christmas song so beautiful she puts me in the Christmas mood every time I hear her voice .love this..
I miss you Natalie, and I know you're missed the world over. What a simple, beautiful and emotional interpretation of this wonderful song. Kudos David Foster! Another masterpiece in a long line of great music. This one is and will remain a Christmas classic. I know you're singing for the Creator right now...
I’m here today listening to this song and I am truly moved.each and every year during the holidays that we all need to hear it and live it. Awesome song.
No more lives torn apart, no wars would ever start, and time will heal our hearts, this is my grown-up Christmas list, not for myself but for a world in need. Oh, Syria, help for you now. What can we do?
This song is a modern classic. If only the world was like the lyrics, but human nature does not operate like that sadly. Sadly Natalie's only child and son died this year in his late 30's. Very sad.
I can hardly believe that we are approaching the second anniversary of the passing of Natalie Cole. This is my all-time favorite video of any Christmas song, and I have always thought it was the best version. Other great artists have recorded it, but David Foster picked the perfect artist to make it a timeless classic. It is a great shame that it is not near the top of every Christmas song playlist. Rest in peace Ms. Cole. You are loved and missed.
Natalie has certainly done her father the Great Nat King Cole justice. I and my whole family loved his voice. I am so happy to say that she is just as talented as her beloved dad Nat. Merry Xmas to all!
