Good video BigC - the reason why there's no + or - (positive or negative) is because doorbells (usually run on lower voltage AC instead of DC). The "fuse wire" may reduce the voltage down to something the video doorbell can use....

Camera operates up to 16vac. No need for resistor. I'm running without the fused jumper. I wired the switched and neutral together on the same terminal in the doorbell device.

@@BigCVlogs .... The fuse wire is merely a jumper to provide connectivity to the transformer. The original circuit path is from one end of the transformer to and thru the old chime, to and thru the old push button and back to the other end of the transformer. It's AC, no polarity in AC.... ... The new path is from the transformer to the Camera, period. .. Merely a power source. To complete this path, the two wires at the old chime need to be hooked together. Fused or not. Fuse is strictly a protection choice.

@@cliffodell8593 So that means the fuse wire is needed to complete the path/circuit. I have 2 doorbells going to the same chime, so I would lose both doorbells if I install a Wyze.

Yeah the wires change in-between the three come and actual button because the button just completes a circuit like a switch almost as you press it you are completing the circuit suppling power to the chime. That's why someone can hold it in and piss you off lol

I had the same problem with the "error code". Turned out it was a dirty screen so the video cam couldn't pick up the code. Clean the phone screen and it shoudl work. Great video. Thank you!

Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ru-vid.comUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

Thank you! I had that annoying hum coming from the doorbell because I never installed the fuse! I was worried the thing was going to short out or catch fire but I installed the fuse included and boom! No more humm!

Great video, better than the one from Wyze, only thing when you connected the fuse wires to the original doorbell wires we can see the exposed original wires as you were putting back the cover. I know the voltage is low and runs off a transformer, but there is still a possibility of one on the uncovered wires touching a metal surface in the doorbell which would short your breaker. trim exposed wire to fit in the wire connector or add electrical tape to prevent shorting out. Just trying to help, but really a great video.

Yea6 , it did help me a lot to install my . Quick setup doesn't explain some stuff. I really was confused about the fise wire installation . And for a $ 50.00 doorbell camera , this is marvelous. About the sound is not a problem , that's why is 50.00 bucks REALLY BIG THANKS FOR EXPLAINING 😃👍

Thanks for the video, mine is coming tomorrow. I already have three Wyze cameras and routinely have to unplug / plug them in every few days, do you have any issues? If I left the house for a week or two I am not confident everything would function, if I wasn't there to reset things.

I honestly have only had to restart my cameras a couple of times. (like 3 times out of 2 years) As for the doorbell, I've never had an issue with it. It worked since the day I've hooked it up..which was in this video lol.

@@BigCVlogs Interesting. I have to reset mine about once a week by unplugging them. The app also seems to sometimes get overloaded on my phone if there are too many notifications, like if my dog is running around. I think it's worth the price but my experience is that it's just not good enough for serious, reliable security for someone who travels. My phone is a Android a few years old, my router is a few years old so maybe an upgrade to my systems would help.

I have switched doorbells but from what I recall, No it doesn't. Just the app on your phone with this video doorbell or a smart device if setup.

They might have changed this. Originally you would get 12 second clips sent to the cloud for free. I'm not sure if it's still the same.

It looks like you may have bare wires sticking outside of the wire nuts, I noticed this is the chime box and the doorbell. This could lead to a possible short, it would be best to twist the wires then cut them short enough to be protected inside of each wire wire nut.

What if you didn’t use the wedge part that tilts the camera? Would you still have room for the wires? I can’t see someone having room to tuck the wire nuts and wires without that wedge portion

The design of my wall allowed me to push the connectors into the wall and it still worked. I think most people would need to use the wedge tho. Just depends on your house I guess.

@@BigCVlogs , but if most people would need to use the wedge to gain space for the wires, then most people would have the camera pointing in the wrong direction. Because I think most people have their doorbell next to their door, with a need for the camera to be pointed straight forward.

Your best bet, void the warranty and run a Micro USB cable to power it in. Or get the new Wyze doorbell with the battery. I'd highly recommend a Nest Battery Doorbell. It's what I use now and they are amazing.

Yes. Just setup the camera under one Wyze account. (Like your email) and then just share that login information with whoever you want to be able to access/view the camera. My wife and I have done this since we started using Wyze cameras.

But I want to get rid completely, the old chime box. It's 1970's ugly and It's located in a weird part of the house. Can I just tuck it into the wall and spackle and paint?

I found the transformer and traced the thin wire crossing the cellar stairs in the ceiling and then the two wires split off with locks nuts. One way going to the chimes in the kitchen and the other to the front door. So no big to just detach at that junction and keep the connection to the front door.

I am honestly not sure. I thought the fuse was used to stop the main doorbell from ringing but I am not 100% sure. Either way, at the end of the day if the doorbell camera has power it should connect into your wifi and work like normal.

@@BigCVlogs think it creates a buzzing noise from original door bell chime and causes connection issues. It may or may not work properly I just ended up installing the fuse. I do miss the original door bell chime

If you don't use the wedge there's no room for the wire nuts, I had to shove them into the wall. Taped them together so I didn't lose them in the wall.

Agree, I had to use the wedge just because of this. My doorbell in on the frame of my door, so no room "behind" it to put anything. Bit of an annoyance, but not really their problem I guess.

I wonder if those types of doorbells are easy to just pop off and steal? they seem easy to just pop off,no? Also, do they have a memory card for video storage on the camera? and or a sensor IF someone was trying to steal those doorbells right off the base? (Notification/alert)? I wonder

All the video is saved on the app over WiFi… they can take the cam but it doesn’t change the fact that you got them on video

If someone steal the door bell, you will not be able to access the image on the cloud. Try to turn off your Wyze Cam and check it out.

Useful video since I’m about to install this over the weekend, however my chime box is a 3 wire with there being a wire going to the back door that isn’t used (in an enclosed porch that’s locked now). Do I just cap off all the wires individually or collectively?

That would be my suggestion, definitely if your not using the doorbell. I just moved and have a 4 wire from 2 doorbells (or that's how it looks) and I'll be setting up the new Nest Battery Doorbell camera in a few weeks so I'm wondering how that will go.

at the time, I had no idea that could be an issue. Only rented house and never did anything to them. We moved about 6 months after I made this video and luckily never had an issue.

I must have lost the jumper. Voice communication didn't work for me either. After watching your video, I opened the doorbell and connected both switched and neutral wires to the same terminal. I did this instead of the fused jumper; this served to increase voltage to the camera since the resistance of the doorbell actuator coil was bypassed. Voice communication works better now, but still garbled.

Support is horrible. I submitted two other technical questions. Tech support doesn't even read it, and sends generic reply. They also told me to submit a wish list request for a feature they advertise the chime to be capable of!

Awww dang. They made a Wyze Doorbell Pro that is battery operated. I'd suggest that or for a little more, get a Nest Battery Doorbell.

In both cases where you connected the wired to each other you left s lot of exposed wire, leaving it open to be shorted.

How fast do you receive notifications when someone approaches the door and when the person presses the doorbell? Is instantaneous? I’m just asking because I have cam v3s and it takes ~15 secs to send the notifications when it detects motion, wondering if the doorbell has the same delay or it’s instantaneous...thanks for the video btw

I should of put this in the video, but it's instant. Like as soon as I pressed the button my phone rang. I will say I have a 1gb comcast Connection with a Nest Wifi system, so your internet/wireless could cause a lag depending on the speed or service type.

Yes, it should not ring once this is setup. Your phone should ring with the notification when someone comes to the doorbell.

Yes, pro just adds more features. I never had an issue with mine. I used it for almost a year before I moved and switched to a Google Nest Doorbell.

The only thing is it feels easy to declip from the bracket. Was wondering if you know of a secure/tamperproof cover for this model?

Installed mine today but it never says "ready to connect". Went through everything 3 seperate times to no prevail. Gave up for the day. Any ideas?

I followed exactly the steps you did but instead of hearing "Ready to connect", I hear only Ding-Ding from the doorbell. Following instructions on app too, press RESET at the back, I still got the same Ding-Ding... not sure what did I do wrong!

I would suggest trying to reset it again.. then turn off your mobile data and try to connect to it. That has always worked for me when I've gotten an error setting up a Wyze device. Best I can think of.

@@BigCVlogs I did a few times but no luck. I think as long as the doorbell is powered (the status light is lit up), I should have heard "Ready to connect" as in many video clips I have watched.

@@TruongNguyen-kv4ox Not necessarily. I also had the doorbell light up and was unable to connect. It would flash yellow, but it only flashed every 5 seconds or so and the odd time the doorbell unit (chime wasn't plugged in yet) made a doorchime sound. I went through tech support (chatbot) via the app and it asked to confirm things like the network (2.4Gh versus 5+) and other minor checks. The one thing the app did not suggest checking was the the doorbell transformer - I found mine was a 10 VA transformer but the doorbell requires > 16. I switched out the transformer to one that provided 20 VA and everything worked as expected, giving the "Ready to connect" and being able to read the QR code. I wonder how many of these were returned thinking it was defective when the issue was the doorbell transformer.

Damn didn’t realize it tied into old doorbells. I never had one. I have an outside light is it possible to tie into one positive lead from the light? Edit: before anyone asks not having a doorbell seems to cloud my understanding that most homes have a doorbell.

No, I sadly dont think so. You would be better off with a Wyze Video Doorbell Pro or even a Nest Battery Powered Doorbell. Both of these would work without an existing doorbell. The Nest one cost a little more, but you can get a solar panel for it so you dont have to take it down every 3 months to charge the doorbell camera.

Not that I know of, I'm not sure what would happen if you didn't use the fuse wire. I don't think the original home doorbell chime will work with the Wyze Doorbell though.

The Wyze doorbell requires 16Volt (minimum) AC electricity. If your home has a doorbell transformer less than 16V AC this could be an issue as this is not enough to run the Wyze doorbell. I had to install an 8 to 24 Volt AC doorbell transformer and connect the doorbell wires to the 16V posts to make it work. For those not having success with the initial audio message from the doorbell saying "Ready to Connect" it might be in part because you have a 5V AC transformer (or something less than 16v AC). For those not sure what they have doorbell transformers are often connected to your house's electrical load center (breaker box) but not always. The voltage provided should be marked on the transformer.

Just FYI, you don't need the extenders. Those are only needed if your doorbell wires are not long enough.

Hi, very complete installation video, I did Everything but when I switch on the breaker the wire fuse just pops and burn, I think my circuit voltage is to high, I'm from Panama by the way my connection is 110v the circuit is protected by a 20Amp breaker for the doorbell chime, entrance lights and kitchen lights, can anyone give me an idea to install this without burn my wyze doorbell?

That would be my guess. I believe the instructions list the voltage the device supports, I can't remember. I know it works for most homes but you may have different voltage ratings in Panama.

What do you calle the white link that connect to your door bell box above on the wall that ea end connects to the existing electric ends? what do you call it? burglars cut pieces of it and leaves its cuttings in different part like the garage outlet to open the garage door and the other white piece is laying on the front door way along the wall. so by lacking this-- i dont know what its called to order the part? I kept saying to myself for weeks that he bossing me around about the electrical wire stripper???

you really should have trimmed those ends at the doorbell side before you connected the Wyze cam doorbell, you have exposed wire seen at 5:55. Just because its a doorbell, it doesn't mean there isn't voltage going through the wire. Trim the wire so that when you add the wire nut, there is no expose wire BELOW the wire nut.

Ahhh I see what you saying. I'm going to fix that then, was more focused on making the video at the time. I'm guessing it could short out/damage the doorbell or even start a fire?

i just found out that once you put the door bell into the wall plate, you cant take it off. Seems like the only way to get it off is to break it.

Basically in simple words, make sure you are getting 24v to the door or to the doorbell. I just got mine today , I’ll install one of theses days .. Instructions that came with the package does not specify exactly the voltage needed.

I am trying to install my doorbell and followed your steps. I can't get my doorbell to blink yellow. It appears I am not getting any power. Has anyone had this problem or know how to troubleshoot this?
