Flying with gears down is a safety precaution during the trial testing phase. It's more or less standard procedure. Since these are unmanned combat planes a lot of testing is done and a lot of precautions are taken because there is no human pilot sitting in a cockpit who can quickly make corrections if there is a problem of some sort.
The phantom ray has the looks and better stability. I haven't seen it in action yet though. From the front, these things look like UFO's. In the future we might adopt the ones we see as fiction. That would also mean that timetravelers visit using such crafts.
@00thelastottoman00 You don't seem to have your facts straight. They captured an RQ-170 Sentinel made by Lockheed Martin. The Sentinel is used for reconnaissance only. These are different in that they function with a higher level of autonomy and are designed for combat.
While your first statement is true, the second isn't. If they are showing this tech to the public, then it has already been in service (or a more advanced version of it) for about 5 years or so. Tech like this is never show to the public pre field use. The videos and clips you get to see make it out to be new and in development, but that isn't how the government works. Remember when the F-117 was first announced and show to the public? it ha been in service for nearly 10 years by then
This thing can advance target designation for a long range rocket artillery to swarm and and kill everything between a two mile radius. The rocket are heat guided and even a pumping heart of a squirrel would lure it to kill thus making the rocket technology obselete in the battlefiel due to its uncontrollability to be misguided.
it's funny all the fuss that is made about UAV's when we have been using missiles successfully for 60 odd years, the only difference between a UAV and missiles is that UAV's are recoverable, I guess UAV's get a more emotional response cuz it looks like a pilot should be flying them, but really there is no different to missiles.
I have a point to make briefly. So these things can launch and land from carriers, stay aloft for 5+ days, longer with mid air refueling. Loiter above 60k ft. collect intel, internal weapons bays, super stealthy, etc. What in the world is Lockheed and Boeing working on now that we don't know about. Seems we're already at the science fiction stage. My what the future holds.
Your other post had at least seven erroneous spelling, capital and Grammatical mistakes. The difference between video cut 'n paste on on here and the fully debugged working vehicle is another.
@00thelastottoman00 Iran made a statement saying that it intends to keep the technology to themselves instead of letting China or Russia to take a look at it
if in Utah a group of farmers are producing raw goats milk for sale(that being against the laws of the land today) and an unmanned plane is in the air-observing their actions. =then a shift change, the operation is underway, the new operator is told- "terrorists are present in hostile area"like YEMEN,PAKISTAN,SUDAN etc. -unarmed~ if someone walks out with a gun to hunt for game, then no actions can be taken remotely. -armed~ then orders could be passed to eliminate the threat. just a thought!
There are high altitude, high speed vehicles flying over my subdivision every night. While looking at stars and constellations I have spotted at least four within 30-45 minutes using my astronomy binoculars. Some of them are definitely satellites in low Earth orbit and time tables for viewing them are given on the NASA website, but, some are not listed and are going super fast. I cannot identify any of the others due to their flight altitude and speed. I have seen videos of the high altitude space vehicle that orbits the Earth for extended periods and thought that perhaps this was one of these craft? Does anyone out there have an educated guess as to what they are?
My binoculars are not high power and all I see are dots of light zooming across the sky. There are numerous satellites in space orbit that a casual viewer from Earth cannot distinguish what type of craft they are seeing. I am more worried about all the daylight , high altitude, weather modification, chemical spraying that is happening right above our heads almost everyday. I don't think the general public knows or believes what they are seeing? For such an educated population, humans of both sex appear to now have become the masters of their own destruction. I don't think we have either a healthy or long term future.

a drone is never going to respond the same as a pilot and will never be as good as a pilot if it is targeted. For things such as recon or long range combat sure. but dogfights and stuff like that... NO WAY!
Area 51 at 00:48 also the Dark knight theme did not go with this video the X files would of been more appropriate and this was not on an episode of future weapons this is why I don't really go on RU-vid that much too many fake ass videos
Would'nt say that, a missile is made as a projectile-type weapon with nothing but radar or a heatseeking devise to guide the explosive warhead to the target. while an unmmaned vehicle intigrates advanced avionics, a verry powerful computer to make the craft autonomous, and is ment to take on missions to dangerous for a pilot... but who cares really.
To all of the call of duty players out there, yes this is the black drones you see attacking the "U.S.S. Barrack Obama"... this ship does not yet exist
You don't get a vote -- because you randomly capitalize adjectives. First word of every sentence; proper nouns and names. Everything else stays lowercase, brother.
I guess there are songs written about brave men and their migthy UCAV's. You better be prepared to trade your own blood for what you value as treasure.....otherwise your chirldern will have no concept of that value!
The same bombastic music as heard in the Russian sales video clips for the Mig 35 and newest Sukhoi. What is it supposed to achieve, is it meant as a kind of war chant ? Doesn't it makes you wanting to listen to a blackbird on a misty morning, greeting nature ? And no, I'm not a "retarded hippie" or whatever commentators might invent to irritate me with.
Really you sure ? , to kill machines are superior by far , in this case the drone support much far higher gfroce than any pilot so can maneuver in much high speeds better than any human pilot , can react in nanoseconds far better than any human pilot , so I'm sorry when this drones be able to fight with planes ( not so difficult to do ) , i invite you to be human pilot .
