Meh depends on the ship type the older heavy fighters for example get better stat bonuses from placing the x mod on the supercharged spot versus the core item when it comes to hyperdrive and pulse engines.. that I have but not all ships are equal so take that with a grain of salt.. and its only cheating if your rp-ing... it's just a time saver that affords easy min-maxing

Yep, some X-class mods are a nightmare to roll anything worth using and potential benefits simply isn't worth time spent on acquiring them.

You will never end up with better stats that a high end X class mod s class does go that high ship shields for example s class highest is 30% x class is 38%

@@jeremywilson5366 Bruh, I specifically told it's better to check stats to decide is it worth your time. Yes, ship shields are better. Personal shields, on the other hand, are exactly the same, so why bother with wider random range of stats only to get the exact same thing? And mining mods are only marginally better, but by a few orders of magnitude harder to roll even on par with S-class. Good luck rolling something actually better. In theory X-class mods are indeed better, but in practice... Do you really want to spend 6 hours rolling mining mods for your MT and get exactly none worth using? When I told "better off" I meant this instead of better stats.

Yes they are. Thing is, you might want to duplicate as much X-Class modules as possible for each upgrade you have. Apparently they have a "gambling" sort of comparison, meaning that it's a 10% chance you'll get an X-Class upgrade that tops an S-Class upgrade, while 90% of the time, the X-Class upgrades are bunk or not that good compared to S-Class upgrades. For example: Starship Shields S-Class Starship Shields: Shield Strength +30% X-Class (90% of the time): Shield Strength 30% So make sure you have lots of X-Class upgrades you can duplicate before adding them to your exo-suit, multi-tool, or starship.

You can make nantes in your refiner, and then when it's full, duplicate the refiner. 1,000,000 nantes in no time

Only the dupe method, does not affect the how the min max goes. Unless you prefer to spend countless time jumping from station to station. Makes sense using a dupe method. If I went into creative from normal mode that this video was made, would that have been cheating? Weak?

I wonder, do you consider save/reload with sequence counting cheating? Because this method is neither a glitch, nor a bug, but simply the way the game works. As in, you buy mods from the same system over and over again with save/reload to refresh vendor's inventory (normal game behavior, it doesn't consider worth to remember details like this between reloads), then save, install all bought mods, save numbers of those which you like in installation sequence, reload, reinstall some mod multiple times and install those you previously installed at numbers in sequence you saved. Again, normal game behavior since game specifically allow this instead of rolling stats at random every single time. The only difference from the method in the video is 10-20 times the amount of nanites spent and a bit more time spent on reloads.

I consider using reloads to be metagaming, and somewhat of a gray area, since it breaks immersion. But I do not consider it cheating. In fact, it is just about as fast for farming optimal mods as using duplication methods. To me that's what makes this video so weak. Duping is not necessary if you know how the game works, as you correctly point out! Using sequences intelligently you can go through hundreds of modules pretty fast-- and for very low nanite cost as well. I have tried this method and using 20 green modules and 10 of the module you want to max, you can test a sequence of 100 X-class modules. For every 100 modules you want to test after that, you only need to buy 10 more green mods. (You will need to top off your stack of 10 X class modules as you find maxed versions.) I would rather see a video that is actually informative about game mechanics (such as the one we're talking about) instead of lazy, ignorant, dupe-glitch bugs: that's why I think this video is weak. Ultimately, it would be good if HG provided for a mechanic, which requires some work, and would allow people to min/max modules without reload abuse. As it is now, the best completely in-game, no reload method for improving modules (that I know of) would be to farm nanites and just buy the X-class module desired by hopping between appropriate pirate stations so that the stores refresh. As it is, (I did a test today in permadeath) I can farm 56,433 nanites in 15 minutes using no glitches/reloads. That's enough for about 140 X modules to test. The slow part is bouncing between pirate stations on the teleporter. You would want two stations that stock 3 of the module you are trying to maximize. So that comes out to about 47 teleports. That's a pretty tedious mechanic, especially when you consider that getting 3 maximized versions of some modules take many hundreds of modules. I guess it's ok if you are patient enough, though.

@@Blitnock What if I tell you don't need green modules for this? XD Pick any mod, remove it into backpack and install it back. Repeat as many times as you need to go to the next number in a sequence. Mod doesn't have to be of the same type, so backpack mod will do for a multi-tool. Mod might have to be sequence-dependent (as in non-crafteable), but I never bothered to test this theory yet since always used non-craftable one for this.

Telling ither people how to play their own game is for losers. It literally impacts your gameplay in no way, you can even choose for it not to. Don't go out of your way to be a douche.
