I’m pretty sure if Central did want more than one base in another universe, the UN would never let XCOM have it. There is a reason why you start woefully underfunded, understaffed and unprepared. After all, they all get pissed when even just one country leaves the XCOM Project let alone you forget to give them those 4 nano vests.
Seeing bradford dead in such an unceremonious manner shocked me to my very core, makes me thankful for the few things that survived after the ADVENT takeover.
he is not dead, he is very harmed. As one of commenters said, according to DLC: "He woke up under a rubble and went on run". If we believe him, then XCOM2 takes place from here
@@pshekchikYou can also take into account that whenever any important characters die in TLP they are "knocked out" and assume thats probably how it went for John when they got attacked
You know... this ending is most... disturbing, compared to the other more 'cannon' defeat ending. But what truly makes this disturbing for the Commander (player) is the fact that it slowly dawns on you, that 'you've' failed, not only the world but your own organization in its most dire situation. The way the scene unfolds you see where the aliens break in, then zooming to the personnel, finally to Central your right hand man, all bloodied and slumped, evidence of a final stand, with even alien corpses around that don't matter because its only a 'sectoid', a mere pawn to the Ethereals. Then the scene closes with the sight of 'your' hologlobe, flickering and fading before vanishing... the final nail in 'your' coffin about how dire the situation was. The only other scene that mirrors this is EXALT's defeat, plays out similarly, with it showing you 'their' base, burning and destroyed, with EXALT bodies littering the floor as corpses, and it slowly zooms out to reveal the EXALT hologlobe flickering and fading, but ends on a positive note as your squad flies off back home, victorious. The irony between the two scenes, EXALT's Commander (if they had one) would have seen a similiar ending to 'their' organization all because of 'you', and its only fitting that you see 'your' ending.
I wonder how would EXALT POV look like. Maybe reverse of us where instead of having very small squad and focusing on tech tree, EXALT power is in numbers and sabotage. Really wish we could play a EXALT
According to another comment, in one of the Xcom 2 DLCs, Bradford aka Central says that he woke up under a pile of rubble in the Xcom HQ and crawled out, not knowing how he had survived, so yes, this could be one of the canonical endings.
Well one of the commander's flashbacks involve him being whacked in the face by a muton, but the muton is the evolved version we see in xcom 2, meaning this happened a lot later
@@JozsefPocsi i was actually confirming your statement, since braford is alive, has fought an avatar and the commander being whacked by a new muton, simply means it was another base attack, which happened a lot later than this one
simondUK It's having an Impossible Ironman run and getting run over even before investigating laser weapons, the guys at Firaxis confirmed in an interview. Also, Bradford is still alive in XCOM2
Idk how that is possible. Most of the guides say you have to devevelop basic weapons for your interceptors and soldiers before any psi soldiers ( templars in wotc)
