Boy, I never noticed that there was no pants and I've seen this so many times. I was too busy laughing at how fake Mulder was hitting on Scully. This was a definite favorite of season four

I like watching your videos almost as much as I enjoy actual episodes of The X-Files. David and Gillian were my first celebrity crushes; I had a poster of them as Mulder and Scully hung next to my bed. I got it as a Christmas gift when I was 7 or 8 years old.

Mulders line, “yeah but I’m no eddy van Blount either”. Is such a good line! And so revealing. I think he knows he wants Scully but has no idea how to get there. He knows he couldnt pull off what Eddie almost did. Although we all know he really could

Look I’ve gotta disagree with you. I think Mulder is Mulder when the tail breaks off. That’s not Eddie yet. I feel like they just did that for comic relief. He talks too “smart” to be Eddie there.

I actually thought the Mulder who broke the tail off was the real Mulder - he acts like the real Mulder, and Duchovny made the difference between the two very clear throughout the episode. Fake Mulder (Van Blundht) just got to the hospital room before real Mulder. They had similar goals.

Also, the design on Faux Mulder's tie is actually slightly different from real Mulder's tie. It's very subtle though.

Scully’s reaction to Mulder’s advances in the hallway scene in FTF are very similar to Small Potatoes. It’s interesting to note that filming for FTF began right after season 4.

I had in my head that this was a Darin Morgan-penned episode since he was in it but now I see it was Carter/Gilligan (it had to have been mostly Vince because the dialog is too good). Although, as you pointed out, many things in this episode don't exactly shine very well under the light of 2019, Small Potatoes is still one of my favorites!

Scully taking her pants off is real. It's the cutting room/extended deleted scene. In 1997, I remember reading that someone posted it on the X-Files forum website that Gillian Anderson said they filmed it and took it out. It showed her taking the pants off and her panties were seen. They won't put a deleted scene on DVD and Blu-ray for no reasons.

i don't know what upsets me more about this episode: the fact that absolutely no one was on to the fact that mulder wasn't mulder, or the fact that scully almost got violated by this creep after opening up so much to who she thought was mulder. honestly my feelings on this episode are mixed.

There were a few clips (from the show) that were really long in the original video - like ~40s. And YT has an algorithm that scans your video for copyrighted content when it's uploaded. SO I think the clips got flagged immediately. I tried to edit them this time around. Won't make that mistake twice!

Yes! I 💖 this one in spite of the rapey elements. You can tell real Mulder and fake Mulder apart by the ties. But it’s also how you can spot a blooper. I think it’s the shot at the hospital where fake Mulder is in the foreground and real Mulder is in the background. IIRC, they’re wearing the same tie. Oops! If anyone knows the full story about this bet with the crew....I have questions. Did Gillian lose a bet? Was she trying to win a bet? Mulder: Should we be picking out china patterns or what? Me: Yes. Yes you should.
