X-Lite X803RS Ultra Carbon:
The X-Lite X-803 RS Ultra Carbon Full-Face Helmet is the new racing helmet from racing oriented brand X-Lite. It is an upgrade of the X-Lite X-803 Ultra Carbon Full Face helmet. It is not an entirely new model, but more of a upgrade. Some differences are more visible than other. This helmet is a premium race helmet made for people that want the absolute best of the best. It competes against other high-end racing helmets such as the AGV Pista GP RR, Shoei X-Spirit 3, HJC RPHA11 Carbon, Arai RX-7V and the Shark Race-R Pro GP.
Shoei X-Spirit Three:
The Shoei X-Spirit 3 helmet targets track enthusiasts and sportbike riders that want a high-end Full-Face helmet. The starting point for Shoei was that they had to improve the original X-Spirit 2 which was one of leading models amongst luxurious full-face helmets. So they took rider feedback from across the globe and translated that into high quality Japanese manufacturing. And that comes with a price tag. This model is being worn by none other than 7-time motoGP World Champion Marc Marquez. Shoei co-developed this helmet with Marquez's requirements into consideration and this resulted in developing the ultimate racing helmet. The x-spirit III has been designed for high-performance use and they gave everything to reach maximum safety. The x-spirit has been tested in the Shoei's wind tunnel to measure how the helmet behaves at high speeds. And the stability of the helmet at high speeds has become even better than its predecessor. The x-spirit III has a new cheek vent system. This system is a noticeable difference between the new and old X-Spirit 2 helmet. It ventilates the lower side of the helmet and has airflow enter the helmet from the chin side, in addition to the top ventilation, to keep the whole head cool. They brought it down on the helmet to reach a more streamlined aerodynamic design. They also improved the rear spoiler. It is designed to let loose in case of an accident. The rear spoiler is an important part of the aerodynamically streamlined design.

I just ordered an Xlite 803 from you guys and I’m super excited! I am surprised you guys don’t have a bike to test the helmets with that’s more oriented for the “race” use of these types of helmets.

I’ve owned both and the xlite rs was more comfortable in my opinion. Not sure how it didn’t do so well in comparison plus the price in Australia isn’t even close the shoei is $1049 and the xlite rs can be had for as little as $705

Thanks for letting us know how you found both helmets! The main reason the X-Lite did slightly weaker was because of the weaker ventilation and the visor was not packed with as many features as the X-Spirit. That being said, we'd still expect the ventilation to do better on a sport bike on the track. Overall, we're still very impressed with the X-Lite since you get a lot of helmet for an incredible price, even though in some areas it doesn't quite match the X-Spirit 3 on the road. How did you find the two helmets for their ventilation?

Hi, i have shoei x14 and bought this xlite x803rs for a week, i think the vents work better than shoei x14, esspecialy with sportbike riding position, maybe the test should be on a sportbike bcs its a racetrack helmet?

@@Haylem for overall features and "what you get in the box" , i still prefered xlite, since with same pricetag you get 2 visors, 2 spoilers, and 2 nose guard, and its very lightweight (full carbon) but I haven't compared with the latest lineup from shoei, the x15 or xspr-pro

The X-Spirit 3 is definitely one of the top helmets currently out there. While there are great reasons to go for the AGV Pista GP RR or the Arai RX-7V, the Shoei offers an excellent balance of high performance all across the board. Thanks for the comment! @@Championhelmets I thought the X lite did really well against the Shoei. In my personal opinion the X lite is more a stepping stone helmet before you go and buy one of the top 3. X Spirit-RX7v-Pista!

That would probably be a fair summary of the X-Lite helmet. Though it is MotoGP level and offers a great set of features, it doesn't quite beat that next tier of helmets that the X-Spirit 3 belongs to. Thanks for the reply! If you find you have any questions, we're always happy to help

As far as the field of view of the X-803 RS and the X-Spirit 3, both are excellent in providing a good level of peripheral vision and adjustability for various riding styles. What are your thoughts on the two helmets?

Could you guys use a sportbike or a naked bike for these tests? I think that would change the results by a lot esp on noise and ventilation. Great review though! 👌

Agree with this. Should be testing on sport bikes. Would be weird to test a Motorcross or adventure helmet on a sports bike.

Thanks for the question! Overall, the helmets perform fairly similarly. Though the original RPHA 11 isn't made of carbon fiber, it's still very lightweight and the large number of vents mean it'll ventilate better than the X-803 RS. If you're in search of the RPHA 11 but still want it to be lighter, you can also take a look at the HJC RPHA 11 Carbon. Overall, both helmets are top of the line and the only downfall of the X-Lite is its ventilation, though out on the track you can definitely expect this to be better

The X-Lite X-Spirit 3 is Snell rated, and though there are some differences between European and American Shoeis, the X-Spirit 3 also got 5 stars from SHARP showing it is a safe helmet overall. The X-Lite is still a new helmet, so it hasn't been tested by SHARP, but they have a good 4 star track record on most of their previous helmets

Which helmet would be best for use with glasses? Also, out of both helmets, which one has a darker tint to the race visor?

I have an X-Spirit, absolutely no bother with glasses. Can't comment on the X-lite, but Shoei's visor is pretty dark.

Thanks for the question! We'd have to agree with Tom, the Shoei X-Spirit 3 should give no problems with glasses. The X-Lite isn't advertised as having space for glasses, but it may still fit them. For the tinted visors, both are pretty dark and though the X-Lite comes with one already in the box, you can also find a free dark smoke visor in the X-Spirit 3 product bundles on our web page

Well I just made my first attempt on purchasing my first x-803 helmet from your website, I have been notified that the transaction went through and immediately after that I got notified that the placement of the order was cancelled and I have not had a further explanation why or a refund sent back to me. I would still love to receive the helmet that I tried to order if anything. Is there any way you can Help?

Hi Nicolo, generally race helmets are designed with a focus on aerodynamics and weight which leaves little room for noise isolation. In addition to this, manufacturers usually expect that riders are wearing ear plugs while using race helmets. Since this is the case, we focus on the aerodynamics of the helmet in our ranking rather than the noise isolation. Thanks for the question! What do you think of the two helmets?

Though we haven't finished road testing the RPHA 11, we do have some preliminary data. As far as noise, we found that the RPHA 11 was at about 102 dB while, when we road tested the AGV K6, we got a reading of 101 dB, which means the K6 was slightly quieter. However, both are decent results that are about average. If you have any further questions, we're always happy to help

@@Championhelmets The helmet is arriving this week. I bought it in a red tone to match the ducati. I was about to buy an agv Gp but I hardly saw them at the Nolan Rs I loved the design and quality apart from the price 40% less than the Gp, I am from Argentina so it takes me a little longer to deliver

@@speedline1800 The 803 RS' design should look very slick on a Ducati, especially with their subtle graphics. When comparing the GP RR and the X-Lite, it's also hard to argue with the price. Thanks for the reply!
