X-Men: Children of the Atom (Japanese: エックス・メンチルドレンオブジアトム) is an arcade game that was produced by Capcom and released on the CP System II arcade hardware in 1994 in Japan and in 1995 in North America and Europe.
Based on the X-Men comic book, it is the first fighting game produced by Capcom using characters under license from Marvel Comics. Released around the time of the mid-1990s X-Men animated series, the game features voice actors from the series reprising their roles.

It's also licensed which means that old Marvel Comics no longer exists as it's now owned by Disney which means hell to pay for the license and the royalties to the original creators and voice actors in the current age.

Being 8 years old and seeing this arcade cabinet in the corner of Round Table Pizza is what got me into fighting games. I later got a Sega Saturn with Marvel Super Hero’s, a Dreamcast with MvC2 and so on and so on. Its hard to believe this game came out 30 years ago. It honestly feels like yesterday…

The standing optic blast, just makes me think of the Mv3 mod where they frankensteined animations to make Cyclops’ moveset, and his optic blast using C.Viper’s animation gave him a sexy hip side thrust.

goat fighter. Was lucky to have been hanging out in the small arcade at Dominoes quite often when they brought this in one day. goodbye quarters. YEARS later...was in edmonton at a bowling alley ..they had 2 arcade cabinets ...this was one...and it was in perfect working condition (no sticky buttons or worn out joystick...all kept care of) great thing about Magneto in this game is sometimes he'll just suddenly become a savage and mangle you pretty hard almost seems like an off and on switch with him
