Fun fact: the actor at 06:24 is the seminal _X-Men_ comic book writer *Chris Claremont* - the guy who wrote the original _Days of Future Past_ & made the X-Men a quintessential comic.

Fun fact, in the books a limited event called the age of apocalypse discovered if iceman trained harder, that if he was shattered in iceform, that he could actually reassemble himself.

I always assumed Quicksilver figured out how to overclock both the video game and the music player so he could properly enjoy them.

I know it doesn't make sense either, but Quicksilver could put his tape to play "as fast" as he moves so when going fast he hears the music as a normal piece, but since he's so insanely fast it doesn't really make sense for a musicassette, but oh well

Probably not worth you guys reacting to the "Rogue Cut" but I would HIGHLY suggest you guys watch that at some point on your own time. While this version is good to get a baseline, Rogue Cut is mostly the same with added scenes that better explain things without fluff.

7:24 Actually Wolverine is weaker with the adamantium bones, as it slows his healing factor way down from always needing to fight the metal poison it's causing. I think it's the only reason he's even aging really in some comics.

in the comics, Kitty Pryde was sent to the past to warn the X-Men about the Sentinels wiping out or capturing all of the Mutants & Humans in the world, therefore starting the apocalypse in the future. not Wolverine

The only stupid thing in the entire movie that I wish was deleted in a fire for being so stupidly dumb-stupid: Stryker's eye-flash revealing he is Mystique. Makes zero sense. It made perfect sense that Stryker would come into posession of Logan, and I was fine with that being the moment. Why would Mystique be involved? So dumb. Otherwise, I love this movie. Edit: Haven't seen any other cuts of this movie, so I don't know if they tried to backpedal-retcon that scene.

This movie is like a combination of a sequel, a prequel and a reboot. I personally call it a seprequelboot. And for what it is, it’s really great. Even my favorite part of this movie was Quicksilver, and his Time in a Bottle scene which was really fun.

Both quicksilver are in kickass, he plays the best friend of kickass, there were a lot of jokes going around when it was announced who both quicksilvers were.

If this hadn't worked, the professor could have used the enterprise to go back in time and fix things.

This movie was mostly shot in Montréal and the actor (Thai-Hoa Le) playing the Vietnamese general Mystique replaces during the meeting was a local Montréal TV actor in the 1990s.

You didn't see Dinklage as the dwarf in Avengers?

It's a little frustrating because this was basically the only scenario where Wolverine can actually try to fight Magneto, and they never really cashed in on that opportunity.

12:55 Magneto was (for a long time) Wanda and Peitro's biological father. Years ago, there was a retcon that happened where Wanda had used a spell that was supposed to affect all of Magneto's children and it didn't affect Wanda and Peitro. That's how they learned that Magneto wasn't their father. Don't know if they ever retconned back the twins parental lineage back to Magneto.

Halle Berry was actually tricked into doing this one. She was promised something, and they never delivered. By that time, she was contractually obligated.

The baseball stadium moved near the end of the movie was the Montreal Olympic Stadium. We were without our stadium in Montreal for over a month, but the production company had Magneto put it back brick for brick. As good as new.

If Wolverine hates flying, I think the implication would be that he's been in a plane crash, or several. And it probably hurt like hell.

I don't know if you guys would be interested, but I think she would really love reacting to X-Men 97 after you watch the movies. Even though X-Men 97 is a continuation of X-Men The Animated Series, it's still accessible for new viewers.

THIS movie is the most accurate representation of the overall X-Men arc throughout decades of comics. It's the inevitability of a future in which mutants are mostly wiped out and humans have basically succumb to machines. It's a story about doing what they can in the present to save their future.....

In the comics there was a really powerful superhero named Blue Marvel who was basically Superman. One day during a fight, Blue Marvel's mask was damaged revealing that he was black. Because this was the 60s the US Government was concerned by the possibility of a race war involving super powered black people. This was around the time mutants became public knowledge, Trask who was a aware of how humans will treat them feared the same outcome. So he started Project Wide awake to make the original Sentinels and another type known as the Wild Sentinels. When he activated them they went nuts and wanted to kill humanity, Trask realised how inhumane the Sentinels were and wanted to destroy his creations but the US government owned the plans Since then Trask has had no connection with the Sentinels except for the 2000s when his Nephew activated the Wild Sentinels. I left out some details, because Marvel uses a floating timeline and some of these stories were written before some of these characters could be alive. Like the original Sentinels were beaten by Cyclops tricking them to fly into Sun, now that happened a decades before he was born

So in the comics, Quicksilver and Scatlet Witch are Magneto's children (along with Polaris, Magnus, and Nina) however, that was retconned years ago because Marvel didnt have ownership of the X-Men movies. Also in the comics, Trask is just a bad dude. They pretty much kept his storyline accurate. He thinks mutants are a threat to humanity. Only big difference is he's got 2 kids, both mutants.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I think the MCU Quicksilver is kind of underrated and I actually preferred that interpretation to this one. This one is definitely funny and has a very entertaining scene, but I'd argue Age of Ultron's Pietro has more actual character development in one movie than Peter does across multiple fairly brief appearances in these X-Men movies. Not saying Pietro is even a particularly deep character or anything and his screen time is unfortunately limited, but I did get the impression that there was more to him that just what we saw (there are a couple deleted scenes that fleshed him out a little bit more.) I was hoping we'd see him in the MCU again in flashbacks or something, but that doesn't seem very likely at this point.

Quicksilver can manipulate time OR he's really fast depending on what version and period of comics you are referencing. So Quicksilver can have his Magneto breakout scene while listening to Jim Croce in regular speed by manipulating the speed of the cassette player or keeping it real time and slowing down the room. So he's faster than both, followed by the player then everything else.

Hi, there's a movie from a while back called 'The Station Agent' with Peter Dinklage, he's terrific in it, you may enjoy it.

The future sentinels are how strong Darwin should have been and honestly Darwin still stronger 😅

This is my favorite X-men movie. It follows the story from comics very well. In the animated series the main character that time travels is Bishop. In the comics it is Kitty that time travels to the past. In all areas the story is the same and the crisis the must change to stop the distopian future.

This is probably the best X-Men movie ever made, at least in my opinion. Everything from the story, the acting, and the vitals, it's just so great to watch and rewatch it! Too bad that the next two X-Men movies screw it up!

Hard to belive but in the comics wolverine is actually stronger without the adamantium. The metal in him is like poison and his healing factor has to keep up with it all the time. Without the adaman he has a better healing factor and can grow even stronger

Magneto mentions he was trying to save JFK by curving the bullet away from him but it didn’t work. He says he was trying to save him because he was a fellow mutant. I wonder what JFK’s mutant power would have been?

16:15 for some reason, my brain is remembering seeing part of some backstory promotional stuff for the movie was explaining that JFK's mutant power had something to do with mutant powers of charm/charisma or the mutant ability to influence people. In terms of comics lore, JFK wasn't a mutant.

Hopefully, the new mutant universe can be handled in a much better way than how terribly Fox bungled it. I won’t be holding my breath, though.

Yep, yep, Quicksilver, Scarlett Witch and Polaris are all children of Magneto. JFK was not a mutant up until Claremont left the title in 1991, I wouldn't hold anything beyond that as canon. Most of the Mutants in the intro hadn't been created yet when the original issues hit stands in '81. Shadow Cat has no such ability to project anyone. Rachel Summers projected Kitty back in time, not Logan. And they stop the Brotherhood from killing Senator Kelly from the first X-Men film.

The story goes according to a propmaster, part of Peter backstory is he stole experemental technology that was very fast. They never built or film the storyline. With the assumption the walkman and pong machines were prototypes.

This is basically a re-boot film...but not a bad take on the comic book story.

I don't know if I'd consider this good. It removed the consequences of any of the past movies.

Just going to drop yet another strong encouragement to watch X-Men '97 if/when you're looking to pick up a new Patreon series... It's really, really good, and closer to the comic book interpretations of the characters.

To your guys' point about this Quicksilver being the better of the two versions... I remember when both this movie and "Age of Ultron" were announced as releasing in the same year, and we started seeing how these characters were gonna look, fans were definitely writing off Evan Peters' version because he honestly just looked goofy, and nothing like the Quicksilver from the comics. Meanwhile, Aaron Taylor Johnson, while not having a proper "uniform", did at least rock some of the classic colors and a contemporized take on his comics look. Not to mention, the MCU was really starting to heat up post-"Avengers"...... Low and behold after both "Age of Ultron" and "Days of Future Past" came out, the latter was significantly praised more as the better movie, and Evan Peters' version of Quicksilver became the fan-favorite, as he was just a more charming and memorable take on the character, in comparison to Johnson's, who as George said, really only served the purpose of being a casualty and centre of Wanda's grief.

I am unfamiliar with Trask in the comic books. However, Trask is covered a lot in the X-Men '97 animated series.

Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch during the Silver, Bronze and the first half of Modern comic book eras they were always emotional basket cases, because of Magneto's parenting skills and humans rejection of mutants.

The only thing I don’t like about this movie is that Warpath, the Native American mutant, in this movie, doesn’t do much. In the comics he is super strong but this movie doesn’t showcase his strength or much else of what he can do.
