iKillerZombie I know! The day before I watched the movie I did an Xmen marathon at home and I was thinking to myself "If they use the same theme at the beginning of DOFP would be amazing..."And they did!
+david hoenig Totally... I still think that First Class is the best X-Men movie... but God did I miss the opening credits sequence with this epic theme on that one...
I just love how Older Charles' question, "Is the future truly set?" is answered by his younger version in the final words of the movie. "Because the future is never truly set."
You caught that too huh? I thought it was a brilliant arc for the film to take. It wouldnt work if the older Xavier said it. It had to be said by the younger, less experienced man
It's strange how there's barely anything in these titles, is it indicative of films not wanting title sequences any more, other than James Bond? All this said was 'so and so presents' and then it was a title sequence with no titles. Oh well it was the only way it could've started.
It's even better than Logan. I don't understand why people like Logan so much it was an unconvincing movie which didn't even have much action and a unique storyline as compared to this movie. Logan was pretty predictable
After the movie ended. My whole theater started clapping. It was magnificent, one of the loudest round of applause I have ever heard from a comic book movie since The Dark Knight :')
The obsessed fanboys want to be pandered to. They will have the original animated series theme or nothing... even though I think of this as an adult variation of that theme
I just heard the song that plays when Professor X is revealed in Doctor Strange 2. It was a cover of XMen the animated series. It only lasted for a few seconds but enough for people to recognize it. It might get many people excited but it didn't work for me. An orchestra cover will not do it justice.
When i heard this theme song again, i was tearing up in the theater. This is a true X-Men film. Not an Origin film, not "The Wolverine", DOFP is how you make a good X-Men Film.
I kind of jumped the gun there. I rewatched The Wolverine again, since i didn't remember 90% of it. It was honestly pretty good, not great, but still good.
Ironic because that's when this sequence reminds me of the opening to the Animated Series. To get those feels again in a movie where all of our beloved heroes die horrible deaths is epic af
If you didn't get goosebumps watching this, you're not a true X-Men fan. By bringing back the X2 theme, Bryan Singer is basically saying "step aside bitches, this is my movie franchise."
Alot of superhero films don't do title sequences like those Spider-Man title sequences anymore cause most think it's cheesy now, but Bryan Singer said "Fuk that shit"
I loved the spiderman trilogy titles, danny elfmans music was badass along with the animation and clips/pics of prior movies, it was just, gaaaah I wish they would bring something like that back
It's even cooler once you realize that the visuals during these credits are showing Mystique's DNA being taken and used to create the evolved Sentinels
They won't. They're all about pandering to the lowest common denominator. They'll give these fanboys exactly what they want, which is a far more recognizable spin on the Animated Series theme. To me, this theme feels like a perfect, mature version of that
Wade Wilson That's because he passed up his vision to a shit head named Brett Ratner (BTW, I knew Hercules would get mixed reviews anyways). And DOFP is Singer's way of saying "I'm sorry to all you fans for abandoning the X-Men film franchise; here's my way of fixing everything."
zombiesnyder13 Oh alright, still have to give Vaughn most of the credit for First Class being as great as it is. But Bryan Singer is definitely the best director this franchise has.
In the theater when the door closed at 0:52, I could hear one guy who was laughing happily at this. You can tell that NO ONE was expecting a classic X-Men 2 styled title scene. :)
The best Intro ever made, of any movie. I saw it, in the Cinema, and the experience was fantastic. I got goosebumps, all over my body, when that intro, came on. It's literally, the best movie, i've ever seen.
The title shows story progression, shows the primordial cells forming the mutant gene, then it's shows Ravens DNA, followed by needles and metal taking DNA samples then the DNA coating the metal, then the metal from the sentinels begin to change into various mutant powers then it shows the folds that move according to the power. Then xmen logo then cerebro door
Lajos Papp Bryan Singer also did something similar in the opening to Superman Returns by having the Superman theme play at the end of the Warner Bros. studio theme.
I was an enormous fan of the first two films, being a young teen when they came out, and although I stuck with the series, the downgrade in quality during "The Last Stand" did rob some of my excitement. Although I felt "First Class" and "The Wolverine" were good, and started to build my excitement back up for this film. When the movie opened, I immediately felt back at home, like I was seeing the first two films again for the first time, and when the "X2" theme started playing, I practically leapt out of my skin in excitement. (Because yes, Bryan Singer was back.) And I gotta say... "Days of Future Past" is my favorite film of the franchise now, because not only does it match the quality of the first two entries... I think everyone (cast and crew alike) has matured in the 14 years since the series started, and knew exactly what the film should be, and made it a perfect installment in the franchise.
Agree with every word. I was 4 when the first xmen came out so I have LITERALLY grown up with this franchise. Just seeing the actors from the 1st film in 2000 come back made my heart leap with joy.
I felt the same way. After X2, the movies started to go downhill until the semi-successful movie, First Class came out. The Wolverine was ok. But when I saw the opening title sequence of this movie, my X-Men movie nostalgia came back! I was happy with tears hearing the theme from X2 again!
The moment this scene played, everyone in the theater immediately knew they were in for a great movie. This was Singer saying "Allow me to show you how to X-Men."
After they changed it up for First class, I never thought we would get this style intro again. I had chills in the theatre. IMO this was the best of the series.
The generation of 2000 grew up with Bryan Singer's X-Men, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and Christopher Nolan's Batman. In my opinion the X-Men saga is only: 1. X-Men: First Class 2. X-Men 3. X-Men 2 4. X-Men: Days of Future Past 5. Logan The Deadpool ones I prefer to put in another universe and the other movies like The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants are decent to bad and I prefer to make them not exist apart from that you get rid of many inconsistencies in the timeline.
This movie was pretty much the Infinity War of the XCU. Bringing together 14 years of movies and passing the torch from the old to new cast. And I love it.
I think this is one of the best opening credits ever put on film. It's got the energy of any Mission Impossible opening, and it glorifies the team better than any opening in the MCU
As soon as I heard the X2 theme I imagined Bryan Singer kicking Brett Ratner ' s ass out the door screaming "move over! I'm back, bitch and this is my franchise!"
+The94Venom I really hope they use this theme again in the opening credits for XMA.. it made me tear when I saw XMDoFP, didn't expect to hear it back then. This might be my favorite Marvel movie theme.
+Brandon Smith Watched it yesterday. You completely nailed it. It was awesome! Although I like this one the best, they kept the same feel to it and the score comes back amazing as ever.
Best X-men movie by far. Bryan Singer saved the series. He may not be the best director generally but when it comes to X-men movies he really knows how to handle it, make every character feel important and deliver us a great experience. Also standing ovations for erasing those horrid Last stand and Origins.
First we got Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's both Spider-Man's in No Way Home and now Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I hope we'll hear the main theme in the movie.
DOFP is easily the best Marvel comic book movie ever made. Sorry to Endgame fans out there. But Days of Future Past is Endgame and Infinity War for grownups.
You knew the movie was going to be amazingly epic when they redid X2's theme music. I remember being so teary with happiness when this started and my brother was currently in the toilet at the cinemas, missing out on the epicness. I still feel for him to this day that he never experienced the opening title scene in the cinemas.
When i first watched X-men DOFP in theaters, and this intro came on...i had goosebumps, nostalgia hit me, and i was so hyped that they use the X2 theme...it was YEARS since i heard that theme from X2 but i could recognize it anywhere
I remeber the nostalgia I felt when this intro started, especially by the outstanding instrumental from X2. Sincerely, one of the best opening titles. AMAZING.
A throwback to when all superhero movies had epic intros like this. Thank you Bryan Singer for saving the X-Men franchise. This has literally become my favorite movie ever.
I smiled gleefully when I heard the theme and saw this. I loved X-Men when I was a kid, and I grew up with these movies. I watched them again (including X3, which honestly isn't that horrendous, but it is still flawed) to get ready, and when this came, it's like my childhood came back full on. As for the movie, one of the best superhero movies ever made.

Disney if you make new X-Men movies keeps this early 2000s style of intro with the X2 theme.
In my own opinion X-Men Days of Future Past was the true Final Chapter and Bryan Singer ensured that this was the greatest. However it is not the end for the X-Men aside from the fact that fox ended them may I remind you that X-Men is also property of Marvel Comics and the MCU is planning to bring them back and a few of the original members from Fox have agreed to make an appearance not as cameos but as returning characters
Sitting in the movie theater, and all of a sudden as if the movie's trying to say "Yup, we're back to the elegance, brilliance and ass-kickyness of X2", it plays the main theme from X-2 in a new rendition. One of the greatest fuck yeah moments in my life.
Man the X-Men: Apocalypse opening was absolutely amazing! (Spoilers...) I loved how it was meant to be traveling the timeline of the human race and the original score from X2: X-Men United played again and I swear it is one of my favourite superhero themes! Right up there with The Avengers and Spider-Man themes!
The first time I saw this movie in theaters I was in total shock when I realized it was the X2 theme(especially since it's my favorite of the original trilogy) I got the chills all over!
