X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) Movie Reaction

Technically, in the comics The Phoenix originally was simply a new identity or title Jean gave herself when she became a being of pure thought/energy and re-formed her body after it was decimated by radiation from a solar flare. Jean as Phoenix was essentially her ultimate mutant power potential unlimited. Professor X had constructed psychic barriers in her mind to keep her powers contained. It was only later when the story was retconned that Jean and the Phoenix became separate entities. Marvel wanted to resurrect Jean after the events of the Dark Phoenix saga, but in order to excuse away the moral dilemma of all those billions of deaths she caused they had to find a way to make her guiltless. Thus, it wasn't "Jean" who murdered all those beings but rather she was POSSESSED by a separate cosmic entity. The writer, Chris Claremont wanted her character to stay dead to give her death some weight because Marvel had habit of bringing back characters repeatedly.

@@tyrchtemph1881 I would have loved to see the comics accurate live action Phoenix Saga. And the Korvac Saga. And the Infinity Gauntlet. They're finally bringing out Adam Warlock. I didn't see the eternals but I think they introduced Pip the troll.

It has its flaws but it's a great movie still. I think the X-Men trilogy has a lot of parallels with the Star Wars original trilogy: the first movie is classic cause it was the first, the second is arguably the best of the 3 and the most well told story, and the third is also good (flaws and all, **cough** ewoks) and ends the trilogy on a high note.

He honestly might be the best casting choice they've ever made in a Marvel movie, both he and Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor Charles Xavier are **Chef's Kiss**

Jean and Wanda would team up and disintegrate Captain MarySue in a millisecond, then Wanda would laugh as she rewrote reality and tuned Jean into a fart cloud.

@@tiagoalves2056 I agree, but they didn't say Phoenix, they said Jean. And the phoenix shown on screen isn't even close to comics Phoenix force anyway. Wanda kinda is getting there in the MCU now tho.

Actually, a third movie was becoming more impossible, now that Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen were superstars, Halle Berry won an Oscar, and Fox had to pay all their salaries along with Patrick Stewart’s. The main idea going in was to kill off as many of the A-list characters as possible while giving more screen time to the young unknowns. Fox then thought they’d do solo movies with only ONE hero at a time, but X-Men Origins: Wolverine….didn’t work out so well. 😂

you can see @30:36 Jean is back and asks him to free her from this. Logan killed Jean, not the Phoenix, I guess.

You've...never read the original comics, have you? (Or at least watched the '92 cartoon version, which adheres pretty closely to canon.)

@@ericjanssen394 I'm just going by the film's explanation. I am vaguely familiar with the whole Phoenix force space entity stuff.

Once you see the amount of destruction that Phoenix caused in this movie, you'll understand why Xavier did what he did.

@@loudboy317 but he couldn't have known then what she was going to do growing up... He doesn't have the ability to see the future. So doing this to a child without their knowledge is still kinda messed up. Atleast if he asked her permission maybe it would have seemed more ethical maybe?

@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos Xavier saw how Jean was losing control of her powers throughout X2 (especially by the end when she had to leave the X-jet to stop the tidal wave). He knew that Jean survived the tidal wave, that the Phoenix was taking over Jean's body and he also knew that she was killing Cyclops which is why Xavier sent Wolverine and Storm to Alkali lake.

was thinking the same.. in fact i think Jean will be among the most powerful Avenger if they will include her.. even more than Thanos, Thor and Captain Marvel and Hulk.. just bcuz she is a celestial if am not wrong

@@liam8173 That's true. However, I know in the comics, both have beaten one of the other once. But the third time Jean allowed herself to lose to Wanda during the events of Avengers vs X-Men

@@mageeaaron2624 Jean was not in the Avengers v X-Men comic run tho...She was already dead at the time... her soul was residing at the White Hot Room inside M'Kraan Crystal situated between the multiverse and the Omniverse (The home of the phoenix). Hope Summers (who's rumoured to be a reincarnation of Jean) is th one who had a one on fight with Wanda over a simple argument.

'cause they already watched it before and predicted every coming scene it replica of characters, no emotions even when the Professor died,. The real person who watches the first time would be emotional or cry while feeling the pain of students when they lost Professor but they are both watching with no emotions, 'cause it's so fake and people still believe that they are watching the first time giving them more views for their channel. So lame
