FIRST TIME WATCHING: *X-MEN THE LAST STAND* (2006) | Movie Reaction 

At the start of the movie, Charles is teaching ethics, and he asks if it would be ethical for someone to pass their concious into someone who is brain dead. That is how he is " alive" in the end credits. Also, despite harsh critique from comic fans, this series only gets better from here. Keeping in mind that this is still before movies were planned for long term series and there are continuity issues. Many people will tell you to not watch New Mutants because it is not actually Xmen. - But it does exisit in the Xmen universe, it is a good movie as a stand alone, and it has one of your favorite people from Game of Thrones.

Don’t worry about timelines…. Just watch and enjoy, I’m looking forward to the later movies and how they tie in

When I saw this movie for the first time in theaters, I thought I was going to have a heart attack watching what happened to the professor my heart was racing. I couldn’t leave to calm myself down because the place was packed.

In the cartoon the Phoenix presents as a fiery bird. I really think you'd love the 90s cartoon. Also Rogue is so badass in the comics & cartoon. She's 1 of my favorites. She can fly in the cartoon

Juggernaut is who Colossus fights in Deadpool 2. They shoved a cable up his bum and electrocuted him in the water. :) Fun fact about Juggernaut though is that he's not actually a mutant, his powers are magical. Professor X's step-brother said the incantation for the gem of Cytorak and Juggs became Unstoppable.

8:01 In the comics, Callisto is more like Wolverine but without claws. Storm once fought her toe to toe in a knife fight and won without using her weather powers. In the MCU, it would be great to see this combative side of Storm’s character.

This movie has to be the one where wolverine felt the most pain I swear. He not only was pierced and tossed around by Magneto but was shredded apart a bunch by Phoenix/Jean Grey. He is used to physical pain by now so I think the most painful thing for him has to be the emotional moments. Thats why I think him having to actively kill his love to save her is such a big deal. They didnt pull their punches with this movie. I think the end was hinting at how Charles can tap into the minds of others across realities even. So he was watching what happened in this movies reality. The phoenix gets reborn in another reality or something all the time so she never truly dies like a phoenix gets reborn. So im guessing her conciousness moved over to that realm where the professor was watching from at the end. I could be wrong. I dont know all the ins and outs but would be interested to know if anyone else does.

Biggest issue I had with this movie was Juggernaut. Aside from certain family spoilers, he was INSANELY underpowered, and he is NOT A MUTANT. His power comes from a crystal that makes him the Avatar of a god.

I met Iceman in a store that I worked at back in 2004. Him and his twin brother came in and they were both so nice and down to earth and I told him how much I loved the movie. They both had PIERCING blue eyes. Nice guys.

4:12 The Danger Room is an important part of the X-Men method. It’s like the holodeck on Star Trek where they can create any threat or environment to train X-Men and potential squads. Not shown in this movie series but the school actually has a junior squad called New Mutants where academy kids who want to one day join the X-Men are trained in developing their skills in a safer environment. Over time they graduate to the X-Men roster. However, due to the threats that the mutant community continually faces, the New Mutants quite often have to fight alongside their older counterparts.

2:34 In the comics, Hank McCoy (Beast), Drake (Iceman) and Warren Worthington (Angel) were a part of the first squad of X-Men alongside Jean and Scott. That is part of the way Fox screwed up the timeline and relationships of the X-Men franchise. I hope that when the MCU reboots X-Men they have the original team together.

Juggernaut was in Deadpool 2. Collossus is the metal dude, also in Both Deadpools. A rewatch of at least Deadpool 2 might be worth a go after you get through the first class movies, you'll understand a lot more references. Also, you can't really tell, but Rogue is on your shirt too. The redhead with the white stripe in her hair.

Sabretooth is Wolverines brother and Juggernaut is xaviers brother ( he was in deadpool) that's why he wears the metal head gear so he can't read his mind.

Pyro does still need a lighter. He just has a cooler one now. Charles transfered his conciousness to another body. The person was catatonic. Super stoked for the rest of the reactions.

14:41 The actress who plays Mystique is named Rebecca Romjin. She has had an awesome career since the X-Men series. Currently she plays the character Una Chin-Riley (aka Number One) who is the First Officer of the Enterprise on the Star Trek prequel show Strange New Worlds. Ironic that she got her big break in the X-Men series and then moved to Star Trek . Her path is the reverse of Patrick Stewart (Xavier) who broke out on Star Trek then blew up on X-Men. Her character Una like Mystique is more than meets the eye…just in a different way 😉.

I can't tell you how many people who have watched this after Infinity War and said "Wow, Jean just Thanos'd them!" and me, remembering when seeing this in theaters was like, no, Thanos Jean'd half the population!

Wolverines healing is based on his metabolism that’s why he looks more buff in each film because he’s doing more and more extreme workout routines wolverine that is once you speed up your metabolism through working out you’re going to increase your metabolic rate that also includes healing and this is in real life so if you put that into the X-Men universe with someone like wolverine it would only make sense that he could boost his healing factor by getting in better shape

Xmen first class is an amazing addition to the series

Sitting here as we get to that last moment with Magneto in the park, watching Major like a hawk. Will he see it? Will he...? He did! When you react, Major, you get happy with your whole body. That's what it's all about. I don't think I'm even capable of being that happy!

This used to be my favorite one, but I always loved Lady Deathstrike.. the woman Wolverine fought with the same powers as him. Always loved that scene

Fun fact: there a version of this movie where Iceman doesn't headbutt Pyro to defeat him, as in some countries (I think it was in Britain?) headbutting is considered a bigger deal.

It's telling how these commenters have a problem with you gushing over Halle Berry, but when you did it for Scarlett (Black Widow), it was fine. Here's a little fun fact about Storm. She is more powerful than the movies led on, because she doesn't just control the elements. Her mother was like a supreme witch of royal caliber. Storm, herself, became an Omega. So the levels mentioned weren't exactly as it should be with only Jean being a 5. Jean, Storm and Wanda could destroy universes if ever they got together for a battle royale. The director and writers didn't know what to do with her character for the movies, so they down played her. She was supposed to have an accent. It was subtle in the first movie, but then they had her drop it. I think Storm could have easily pulled a Moses and used the air element to split the river dam waters apart from her seat, then Jean could have powered up the plane so they could leave.... but they needed a segway to bring The Phoenix in. There are tons of inconsistencies in the Xmen universe because directors and writers ignored what the previous production team already established with character arcs. Once they fixed it, the newer Xmen movies ended up messing the consistency back up again. For me...Dark Phoenix was the worst, then The Wolverine. The body that Charles took over in the after credits was his twin brother. He spoke to the students at the beginning of the movie about the ethics of a mutant taking over the body..foreshadowing. Rebecca Romajn was the perfect Mystique. The only version I like. In the comics, Night Crawler is her son but she didn't raise him. She didn't want her rich husband finding out about his mutation because it would reveal her too. He was raised by Carnival people. I didn't like how the movies had Wolverine simping over Jean and making a relationship in his head where there was none. Jean told him she was about Scott...Period. Attraction is one thing, but commitment and love is another. The writers got him saying corny things like "My heart belongs to someone else " referring to Jean...and they just met. People talk trash about Origins:Wolverine because it changed up some things, but I loved it and I think it made sense the way they told it. Imo. I've mentioned this in an old Wandavision post that in the comics Magneto is the father of the Maximoff twins, but do to the issues of Disney trying to acquire Fox's properties they had to compromise with the characters. Disney's MCU could not reference the word Mutant yet. Not until recently. Wandavision is actually loosely based off of The House of M comic arc where Wanda loses her mind, creates kids and well...things go dark because of her being unstable plus the manipulations done to her.

Make sure to check out xmen first class. And xmen days of future past and xmen apocalypse. It’s also weird beast calls wolverine boy. When wolverine was born in the mid 1800s. Juggernaut is the bad guy in deadpool 2

The fantastic 4 was also in the comic book series secret wars and you will see another new outfit for spider-man... Probably 1 of the best ever... Existential

September I’ll be 21 and I gotta say when I was a kid seeing this movie it was borderline scary starting off with Dude cutting off his fucking wings Wolverine getting the full on Thanos treatment every second he’s walking to Phoenix at the end all the while he’s healing so it is looking gruesome that scene was fucking phenomenal but terrifying at the same time

Juggernaut was in Deadpool 2. :) Also, Deadpool is its own universe/time line....for now at least.

Deadpool 3 is coming out. And it’s not a spoiler, just a confirmed fact. Hugh Jackman is in it, and reprising his role as Wolverine. They’re both former Fox owned characters now officially owned by Disney. So technically we’re already getting a connection. There’s also a continuation of the old X-men cartoon out on Disney+, but that’s unrelated to the MCU

36:18, the X-Men universe is very deep. Everyone has secrets and abilities that not everyone is aware of. In the comics, Moira here is a genetic researcher and also a former girlfriend of Charles Xavier. Together they had a son. For most of her history she was shown to be a human ally of the X-Men. In actual fact she is also a mutant with a pretty wild ability. Moira can reincarnate through time travel and reality bending. Essentially at the moment she dies her mind travels back in time to her birth with full knowledge of her entire life. So each time she lives out her life she can replay her life and alter its course and by doing so change history. In some of her replayed lives she has been a SHIELD agent, in others a scientist and in one lifetime she was an assassin.

Appreciate the fun reactions as always. Your right that the Juggernaut was in Deadpool, more accurate there as well, also he isn't actually a mutant but a guy possessed by powers of an ancient god. This trilogy kinda changed a few things from the comics, some for the worse in my opinion. But overall I enjoyed them. As to your question about level 5 mutants, there are a few of them and yes Magneto is one of them. In the comics he gets so strong he can control any metal on the planet even without having to be near it. Don't wanna say any others as with them eventually being added to mcu it could be considered spoiler territory. Have fun with the other movies. Also don't worry too much about the timelines since they are taking place in different universes from what I am to understand.

Magneto gave Pyro a new device that produces sparks and was able to still make fire. The Phoenix force is a cosmic entity that chose Jean Grey as a host and amped her powers. This movie upset fans because of the writing with The Phoenix saga and other things. I hope you watch X-Men:First class and Days of Future past. They’re a reboot of the X-men films and shows Professor X and Magneto’s friendship and beginnings a bit more.

90s marvel was filing for bankruptcy to to close the gap on owing cash to other entities they sold of the film rights for x men ,spiderman ,daredevil ,fantasic four ,ghost rider and hulk (and any characters created in those comics also came with the package deal ) there more info in the legalities but I'm keeping it short ,most have reverted back to marvel and a few they partner up with which ever studios still own the rights ..this is the short version

Always known that the first three are my favorites, I completely forgot how this went until I was reminded when it started. It's so awesome. I always remember the Phoenix but everything else is a little hazy. I forgot about the cure! The whole series happens in this movie with the Juggernaut. I could never live without that. I'm pretty sure it's cuz I watched too many cartoons. And I love it when cartoons are mean.

Quill is credited as Kid Omega in the credits, even though those are potentially the most different mutants in look and powers. The X-Men from Deadpool 2 were the X-Men reboot cast. That's why Colossus and Juggernaut looked different in Deadpool 2 compared to these movies. Same characters played by different actors in a different story.

While Jean Grey is powerful, Fire Phoniex is also a Omega level mutant (aka Level 5). Essentially making her god tier. She's a good match against Scarlet Witch who is Omega mutant. Though obviously both differ from the comics. And this X-Men your watching is before the MCU and its own universe. The X-Men will start over with MCU at some point.
