This takes me back to Christmas time 1996 when this game first came out in arcades. X-Men vs. Street Fighter blew my mind with the tag team feature and all of the different moves you could pull off. I rented the gimped PlayStation version out of curiosity and just laughed about how downgraded it was. This game was more popular than TEKKEN 3 in some arcades at the time.

God I wish Capcom would make a home console version of the VS Collection including Xmen: Children of the Atom, Marvel Superheroes, Xmen Vs SF, MSH Vs SF, Marvel VS Capcom 1 & 2 & Ultimate MVC 3…Hell, they should also include Capcom Vs SNK 1 & 2

Big thumbs up for using the correct aspect ratio. I hate when people show these games all stretched out.

Both characters can chain jumping heavy punch-jumping heavy kick together for max damage jump-in combo starters. Both characters can use a full zigzag chain (light punch-light kick-medium punch-medium kick-heavy punch-heavy kick) whether on the ground, jumping, or super jumping. Rogue: Standing medium kick hits low and has longer reach than crouching medium kick. It's her best normal move to cancel into special moves. Crouching medium punch is best for canceling into Power Drain. Kisses work best when you corner yourself. Power Drain and "Goodnight, Shuga!" allow you to hit your opponent on the ground (OTG) or, even better, juggle your opponent. Best example is a cornered super followed by another super. Always Dive Kick (jumping down+heavy kick) after a throw. You usually get a free OTG hit for a 2-hit combo. Rogue has a TON of infinite combos involving stolen powers. Charlie's Sonic Boom and Juggernaut's Earthquake are the easiest. Highest damage non-infinite non-stolen power cornered Rogue: Jump hp-hk, dashing stand lp-lk-mp-mk XX "Good night, sugah!" Super, "Good night, sugah!" Super Gambit: Stand hard kick is the best move to cancel into special moves from on the ground, especially if you want to get all the hits from his Royal Flush super and *especially* if you want to start his nasty LP Kinetic Card corner combos. Crouch hard kick is nice, but good players will roll out of any OTG hit attempt. Best normal to combo into Royal Flush from is crouch hp. You can follow up a LP Kinetic Card with (OTG) Royal Flush.

Great how CAPCOM was willing to raise the bar at the time. What they've tried accomplish with Rogue was really neat: they had to simplufy it in MvC with a simpler buff system. It just became 100% viable and scalable in SFV, near 20 yrs later, with Seth.

This is the game that took high jumps & supers to another dimension. I wanted to own this game so bad 28 yrs ago 🎮

Can't believe how great this game looks with the filter on. The hand-drawn animations really pop out. It's not perfect, of course, but the animations feel less limited by the blocky pixels.

On second thought, maybe Gambit go look for Rogue right now

Seeing this game at the bowling alley arcade for the first time when i was like 10 was amazing. I thought video game graphics would never get better than this😂. But man that rouge juggernaut infinite was something special.

Owning this on the Saturn (import) finally shut up my Playstation loyal friends. I kept telling them, there's a great reason to own both, this game finally convinced them. The PS1 version really left no doubt.

I remember at the time these 2D fighting arcade games werer losing ground to the "new" 3D fighting arcade games like Virtua Fighter. But this game still holds up today and still looks awesome, where as those old 90's 3D games are virtually unplayable now and look dreadful by todays standards.

oh my..... I was in my feelings and in shock when I saw Rogue kiss Akuma. Then proceed to use the Dark Hado not once but twice. 👏👏👏just truly breath taking.
