⏬ What is Reality Expansion Pack (REP) ⏬
The Reality Expansion Pack for X-Plane 11 and 10 is an add-on that replaces some internal parts of the sim with custom ones, greatly enhancing the realism.
It replaces and enhances the flight & ground dynamics, the default piston engine, the electrical system, the landing gear and many other aspects of the airplane, adding things such real world physics, new stereo sounds and extra 3D elements.
REP also provides a damages system, a maintenance hangar and the interactive ground checks.

Great job again Osamah :) I got this package a little while ago for my VFR flights and it´s awesome. The REP takes the aircraft to another level. Another cool feature, I believe, is that if you forget to turn certain things off, the battery will be drained. Even if you shut down your computer and come back the next day.

Q8, just wondering...if one was to crank the engine over a few times without starting, do you think the rep simulation of this aircraft would actually make engine quality last longer without plugs fouling etc ? Just curious. CRanking it over would put some oil up into the cylinders. When you review, dont forget to give us some outside shots. Great video.

The thing with prop sync is that you have to be within 25 rpm _difference_ between the engines, not below 2500 rpm (however it is also strongly recommended).

10:30 How did you get these engine sounds? Are the props out of sync? Is it the REP that does these sounds??? I just bought both Baron 58s from Carenado but they don’t have that takeoff Whoom whoom like you do. How do i get it?? I’m in 2020 and 11.50 beta 13 version.

I've never flown a Lycoming engine where you could see the prop pitch change when the engine isn't running. I always understood the pitch change to be due to oil pressure in the pitch control which requires a running engine, not just a hard connection to the level in the cockpit. Seems wrong to me. Also, priming these engines tends to be throttle closed, mixture ICO, pump on and then you use the mixture control to prime the engine and see the fuel flow move not the throttle. Any real Barron pilots out there feel free to correct me on this!

The prop angle did not actually change. That's just a glitch of XP11. If you compare the propeller angle before and after moving the prop lever, you notice it's the same.

Thanks for this great video, I've had rep for the 58 now for awhile, just wonderful. We are in such a sweet spot for simulation at the moments wouldn't you say Osamah? I mean we P3D V4 now, X-Plane 11, all sorts of goodies to unpack :). Cheerio!

very nice mate, this is another one I'll be looking at buying, Do you see a big difference in frames performance with you're 1080ti over other cards you have used in Xplane 11? I'm currently trying to decide on wether to upgrade my 980ti to either 1080...1080ti...or wait until end of July until AMD'S Vega is released. I noticed whilst watching the latest Xplane 11 conference that they are going to be adding Vulkan support which is fantastic news.

My recommendation is to wait for the Vega first. Wait until the performance results are out so that you can compare the cards. I don't think you will get a noticeable increase in performance from the 980ti to 1080ti.

Q8Pilot Thanks for the heads up mate, very useful to me. I'm trying to figure out wether Xplane 11 is more CPU bound or GPU bound, just not sure. Yeah I think I'll wait for Vega and compare, especially with the devs at Xplane gunning for Vulkan support.

I am pretty sure that Xplane 11 is CPU bound, especially if you fly with such advanced payware planes like the 767. You should invest in your CPU!

Tiramisu Corleone Yeah it seems kinda hard to tell these days, when I open cpuz and gpuz I'm getting readings of only 23% up to 40% load Maximum on certain cores. I'm getting up to 75% average on the card. I'm using settings at high apart from reflections which is set off due to it not being optimised yet. My cpu is the i7 4770k@4.5.

That is absolutely correct! XP is more CPU bound than GPU bound and hopefully we can see a little more optimization in terms of multi-core use in the future.

All REP packages have been updated to v3. There is work in progress for v3.1 to introduce dynamic ground effects as well, but no news on release date yet.

Hey man! been watching your videos for a log time now and wanted to ask you a question since I'm new to xplane 11 and the PC flight sim world. A bit of off-topic but hope you don't mind. In one of videos you used simbrief to file from OKBK to OMDB and the flight plan looked like this, BOXI3E BOXIK B416 AMBIK UB416 KUVER B416 DESDI DESD8B How do I know which of these are airways and which of these are waypoints? How to know which of these should be entered in "VIA' and which ones should be entered in "THEN" in the FMC route page. Thanks

Thanks for watching! The Airway normally is your letter and numbers, e.g B416 UB416 are airways while BOXIK AMBIK and DESDI are waypoints.

Good day, Q8! I like this kind of airplanes very much. How do you compare the realism of the flight modelling with the Cessna 172 by AirfoilLabs?

This is an excellent question. Both offer a lot of immersion and realism. The AirfoilLabs C172 is a complete package, REP is an addon. With that said, I find that REP offers more realism in terms of flying the actual aircraft. You really have to watch what you are doing. REP is less forgiving and I find it to be more challenging and fulfilling. The AirfoilLabs C172 is the best complete package GA aircraft. REP, on the other hand, brings unmatched realism to a select few of the not so well constructed Carenado product line.

Very good video buddy. I think that Carenado needs to update most of their aircraft for xp11. Once they do that it will fix a lot of small issues that they have in xp11.

Hey Osamah, Unfortunately the behaviour of prop blades you have shown before engine start-up is not realistic in fact. In not so big psiton engine aircrafts like Baron it is the oil pressure that make propeller set to "high rpm" angle. On the ground when aircraft remains off, there is no oil pressure so the blades once feathered after flight can't be replaced to fine pitch (high rpm). Such situation effectively make start-up hard (prop generates too much drag). That's why a kind o blockage is implemented to prevent automatic prop feathering after shutting the engines down due to oil pressure dropping. But during in-flight emergencies when engine is out or should be manually shut down, such a lock is not good, becouse the prop couldn,t be feathered to reduce drag and aerodynamic asymetry. That's why you can often find minimum rpm restriction for prop feathering in aircrafts manuals and POHs, e.g. at least 800 rpm when manually pulling blue prop control back to feather the blades. I strongly recomand a marvellous article about engine operations with constant speed propellers by John Deaking. Prop sync is active and able to work when the DIFFERENCE btw props' speeds is less than 25 rpm, not when rpm is below 2500.

On the ground - yes, there is no centrifugal force on counterweights nor oil pressure to rotate the blades. In-flight the angle at which they are fixed to the hub changes as you set prop control, but that's not all. It changes all the time during flight at certain blue lever setting in order to maintain desired rpm. When aircraft gain some speed prop governor must automaticaly increase prop pitch in order to keep number of revolutions as you have set. And the other way round.

Jakub Kubicki I know. What I mean is that in the video if you compare the prop angle before and after moving the propeller lever it doesn't change. There's only a temporary glitch in the prop angle dued to xp11 but with REP 3.1 we can iron that out.
