+Q8 Pilot, Jason Schappert from MZeroA taught me how to adjust the mixture. It's simple watch your prop RPM's as you adjust once they "peak" out you leave it there and that is the proper mixture. Additionally by looking at the aircraft POH you can also get numbers for best fuel burn and airspeed by adjusting the prop RPM and mixture to achieve those POH listed results. It's really that simple, it looks complex but in reality it's just that simple.

A much needed review. Very little has been posted about the new version of the Baron. With REP, it looks like a good, solid airplane, traditionally equipped.

If you allow me a tip... viewing the manifold pressure during takeoff, you should apply full throttle in this procedure. It's in the Baron 58 POH. Greetings and great video.

I owned the Carenado B58 in XP 10 because of you frankly but when XP11 came out Carenado would not provide a discount to buy new AC. that was a deal breaker for me. I like their AC but there are better manufacturers out there. I agree with @JoshThomas I think the TBM900 or Airfoil Labs 350 is a better investment at least for me. I bought the REP for XP 11's B58 & was very pleased, I like Simcoder's work they make good AC even better. Osameh is right it will take some work in the POH to fly it but it's a fun AC . You can searcj RU-vid for helpful videos on flying it. Thanks my friend for the review & your expertise

Thank you for the video. I'm happy to see GA get some love in the Sim community. Most everyone wants to see all tubeliners. I bought the B58 for FSX and I was dissappointed with the performance and with the response from support. I did get the REP for the default Laminar B58 and it is a great improvement over the base airplane. Still wondering if it's worth getting the Carenado for the looks alone. Aso considering they did not include the GNS530.

Thanks for the video. One thing, when you feather the props, especially in cruise, you should throw the Propeller Sync switch on as it will smooth out the ride by making sure the props are spinning at the same rate. Turn the switch off when you bring the props back to full as you normally do. When the props are synced, you'll see that small fan shaped gauge located between the Manifold And R.P.M. gauges stop spinning. I have this exact aircraft from Carenado for FSX and love flying the Baron.The X-Plane version is better from what I've seen as the sim is newer. I look forward to seeing the update Carenado will have for the 58 when FS 2020 is available! Though I love flying the big jets, especially my L-1011 by Just Flight, I spend at least 30% of my flight time in GA's, none more then in the beautiful Baron, which is by far my favourite GA aircraft to fly! I think you are slightly confused about the term "Feather". You mentioned "feather the propS in cruise". Feathering a propeller is aligning the blade's chord parallel, or nearly so, to the relative wind. In other words, streamline the blades so they are causing no or little drag. This is only done when an engine is shut down in-flight. To "feather" both props in flight with the engines running would suddenly turn a perfectly good twin engine airplane into a very poor "Glider". I believe what you meant is when the props are set up for cruise RPM, engage the sync. The sync can actually be engaged during the climb stage also.

You must be a mind reader! What a coincidence - I was thinking about the Carenado Baron / REP this week, having found REP at the XPlane.org store. The Baron is a beautiful aircraft but, as you said in the video, the flight model has come in for some criticism over the years since Carenado released it. Thanks Osamah, this has been a hugely useful video for me.

Hi Q8! Great content as always :) I just discovered yesterday that in Carenado planes, you can hide ACO at the bottom left of your screen by placing you or mouse over them and scrolling down with your scroll wheel. This will gradually increase the opacity until it's no longer visible. I thought it may be useful for you ;) Cheers!

Am on the fence with buying this. I noticed at 9:41, you can hear an audible popping sound from time to time. Is this an encoding error on the video or does the current release of the plane usually do this? Usually, a popping sound like this would be symptom of where the engine sound hasn't been looped properly which causes the "pop" sound when the sound file is played during the loop cycle.

I’ve been flying this Carenado REP package for over a year and a half. Although the majority of the features are grand and amazing, I feel along with a couple real world Baron pilots I know agree that there are a few “significant” problems with the REP that Simcoders view are not an issue. 1. When engaging approach flaps under 152 knots, the aircraft exhibits an exaggerated ballooning of + 700 to 1500 fpm and it takes serious inputs to get the aircraft on flight plan again. Flap ballooning is real but this REP characteristic is not true. 2. For some reason and it may be related to certain airports, this aircraft with the REP is nearly impossible to keep on the center line as there is a massive tendency for the aircraft to veer left. Sure, there is a P Factor characteristic, but this sometimes major left swing off the runway is frustrating to say the least. Even with full right rudder, you just barely stay on the runway. As soon as you remove the REP, the exaggerated swing to the left if it occurs during takeoff is gone. 3. Occasionally when landing, the same problem of keeping this aircraft on the center line manifests itself again. Ask any Baron pilot or any GA pilot for that matter, when the wheels touch the runway upon landing, the plane is gripped and controlling the aircraft on the centerline with the winds is relatively as expected. With this REP, the plane looks like it is being piloted by an intoxicated person. Now, there are many other features with the REP that are real to life and it will definitely teach you how to operate the B58 and that alone is worth the investment. Just wanted to share my long time experiences with this Carenado REP combo package.

Worth the upgrade? I bought the plane+Rep back in January and have around 25ish hours in the plane alone. I do know you get a discount on the REP for XP11. Thinking of just either getting the TBM900 or continue learning the Zibo 738(have only 4ish flights in it but still suck).

Outstanding review as always! Now posted at www.sim-outhouse.com in the X-Plane forum. Thank you. The highest number of Baron accidents took place in 1964/1965 with the introduction of the aircraft type. ... (So much for the engine out on takeoff boogey-man. ... The C55, D55, and G58 and B58 have the lowest fatality rate (no fatalities reported) ... of 60 total reported incidents), there has not been a non-IFR Baron until recently which was attributed to pilot error. It is very stable aircraft.

Hello Osamah, I would like to ask you a question please. Recently, I bought ORBX TrueEarth South GB, I installed it on my X-Plane 11.30. Everything works fine till the converting files phase, when my windows crash due to high CPU Usage. Did you have the same problem when you installed your TrueEarth South GB? My Pc specs: I9 9900K @5.00GHz. 32GB Corsair Platinium DDR4@3200mhz. Maximus IV Hero Call of duty. PS1500W. Corsair H100i pro CPU Cooler and 1080ti from EVGA. I can send u an image of the Task Manager berfore crashing. Thnx

Hi there Ilyes, I haven't had any problems with TrueEarth. Did you try to delete and re-install the scenery? You can usually find answer to those issues at the ORBX forum, but if not, you can email their support. They are pretty fast normally.

Thanks for the video. REP addons are great. I had this combination for xplane 10 but the Carenado xplane 11 versions seem to hit my fps a bit hard. I like how (similar to A2A), Simcoder updates features of aircraft already released, so for example the Economy feature was added to aircraft that didn't have it on release. You didn't mention the other side of the Economy, how you earn money for flights and so can try and balance that against maintenance costs. Regarding power settings, Simcoders have a few links on their site to articles related to the "red box" etc. which are worth reading if you know as little as me imho.

I'm glad you mentioned the part about how you "earn" money back because I wondered about that, being new to this flight sim and having been years since flying sims, I wondered if I'd end up going through the $10,000 for maintenance fast for breaking my plane and end up parking it, or sweeping it up and needing to buy another one to start over with :D That's more realism than I can afford but I like the idea of having to treat the plane like the real deal or pay the consequences, as long as there is a mode where I can also just fly and not worry about a hard landing and being stuck somewhere.

@@donc9751 Activating the economy function is optional and you can reset it some way or another. I only used it for a few flights (I don't stick with the same plane regularly enough to use the economy properly). It did seem that the amount you earn isn't huge, so you need to be a bit careful with the plane I think. (which as you say is a good thing). The best part of REP addons is the engine management I think.

I programmed aileron trim on two of my buttons, easy to trim out the pull for any phase of flight you're in.

Honestly "mähhh"^^: You didn´t speak about the existing REP-Versions. I don´t see any mayor difference to buy the new Carenado 11 + REP Version. This is a 29,95$ + 19,99$ for this combo... There is the Piper Twin Comanche PA30 (vFlyteAir/29,95$), Cessna T310R (Milviz/39,95$), Duchess Model 76 (Justflight/41,99$), Cessna 310L (Digital Replica/24,95$), Aerostar 601P (Avia71/29,95$), Diamond DA-62 (Aerobask/34,95$). In my opinion This Beech is quite a poor product for 2019 and lots of other more atractive companies :)

There is certainly plenty of choice out there. REP though is very accurate and revamps the plane in many ways. It's not for everyone but still a very good choice for GA enthusiasts.

I see that someone else follows the twin-engine market on X-Plane as closely as I do. :) I haven't been very excited about any of the twins. I feel that most of them lack something...visuals...navigation equipment...weather radar (or some Nexrad source like an iPad). I keep wanting to buy one but end up just closing the page. I want it for cross-countries but would I really buy and fly an airplane for cruising if I didn't have a weather source? And with GNS 430s? Much rather have a single GNS530 or 530/430 combo. It does look like a really good airplane otherwise. But then there's the price. If you compare it to the Aerobask DA-62, E1000-G1000 or the TBM 900 (the latter two being single engine) where you get at least one weather source, stunning visuals and sounds...it really doesn't compare...not for a cross country flyer. In the end, I'm still sitting on my hands, hoping that Just Flight or someone else takes on a fairly modern GA twin.

Never take off below full throttle, for many reasons, number 1 is safety and number 2 is elevated CHTs. Also you rotated before Vmc, that's a death sentence if you have an engine failure. I'm assuming you meant to go full throttle and the controls didn't work?
