Another comprehensive tutorial which gets over not only normal procedures but also using the tools available in the 'box' to carry out a challenging approach. Thanks Matteo I'm off to boot up my sim!
Congratulations, great video! Just one question: for the visual segment, you use the visual approach chart and not the visual part of the RNAV approach chart. In the latter, the visual approach waypoints are different (SP504, SP505 and SP506) and there are no altitudes recommended for those waypoints. What to do in that case? Thanks.
I guess it could be operator specific which chart to use but in all the real life videos I have seen they always seem to use the visual I used. It's a procedure that is done only after having been trained on it, so you are supposed to know the altitudes and visual references by heart.
@@matteochewie4373 Thanks. Unfortunately I haven't found real life videos which show the cockpit displays, only outside view. The only one I have found is the one below, where, if you stop at min. 6:52, the waypoint just passed looks like SP504.
You could in the sim, but in real life you wouldn't be allowed to use AP below MDA, so they could be there only for situational awareness, but not for AP guidance.
@@matteochewie4373 You have set a FIX for the curve flight to RWY, so what is the difference in real life situation? In bot cases pilots can fly the RNAV VISUAL without using the AP?
@@ilankrt The circle I drew on the fix info page was only a boundary, as in the chart it specifies you should not fly beyond that, so it wasn't to give guidance to the runway but to make sure I didn't fly past that. Custom waypoints would not be used in real life as the procedure is purely visual and relies on visual clues. Of course having 2 pilots, one controlling the plane and one checking out the window for those visual clues, makes it a lot easier than it is in the sim, hence why I use a few "tricks" to help myself.
