Testing the new X-5 drum with my HK-94, Silencerco Octane 45HD, and registered full auto pack. Ammo is CCI Speer Lawman 147gr. All NFA laws apply! Follow-up test with MP5SD here: • X Products X-5 Drum Wi...
That wouldn't be me you are talking about would it?! haha. I really don't know what was happening. My gun has never had any issue. It was likely a bad unit. It has since been sent back and I am just waiting for the replacement to do a follow up. Glad to see you didn't have the experience I had.
Yup! I saw your video shortly after I received my drum and I started to get worried. It looks like the one you had was a bad unit, but I'm hoping your replacement is good to go. Keep us posted!
Will do. As soon as I get one back I'll do another running a mag first then go right to it. That way there is no question it is the drum. I've seen Xproducts say to others that were having issues that they spent less time with the k then full size and think that the spring tension is to high for the k. It was something like that anyway haha. It working in full auto is a moot point in my opinion. 99% of the civilian world only has a semi only MP5 platform. It's nice it works for those luckily ones who have that full auto capability though.
That's an interesting point about the 'K'. I have yet to use the drum with my SP5K, but have to try it the next time I go shooting. Full auto is definitely a whole other experience, but you end up burning through ammo so fast that it can get expensive in a hurry. I still thoroughly enjoy shooting in semi auto.
I was pleased with the results, even with that one FTF with the flat nose ammo. I'm sure it'll work 100% when I try it with some standard 124 grain NATO.
Even if you did you couldn't access these firearms. They are very strenuous about who and how people get full autos. It's a long and expensive process that 99 percent of people can't afford, or just plain aren't allowed to have.
In my experience round nosed ammo seems to feed best in MP5's. I think the flat nosed rounds can get hung up on the feed ramp. The DJ Getz MP5 I have runs just about anything but always functions smoother with 124gr round nose.
This was an issue with the X Products drum magazine, not the gun. I haven't had a single malfunction with real HK mags and flat nose ammo, or any other ammo for that matter.
Thats good lube the hell out off it seen the cat shirt rotella 20/50 on the spring after some grease on the 50 loading process for tje drum and in side maybe little smoke feeds fast did to hundred rd 7.62 custom 51 ak drum or 12ga swap guts out amazing
my experience with all mags is never load them fully you have way more chance of jams even if you loaded it fully once. your putting stress on it so next time it could jam
Dude! what an awesome effing firearm! Do you know how lucky you are to run such a magnificent HK?! I've been around a lot of guns in the past few year, but never one like that.I'm getting ready to procure the semi -auto version, but they're so hard to find. Then, to add a supressor, and length of time for the BATF tax stamp, it will take me all year to finally finish it. Awesome weapon!
I dont own any drum mags so I wouldnt know but I heard they are notorious for jamming. Is that true or does the way you load them or ammo type make a big difference?
Just FYI, make sure you use the right locking piece on that beautiful MP5 when running a suppressor. It will eventually bulge the receiver when the rollers pop out against the receiver especially on full auto. Also you might want to look into the 40 round MP5 magazines. I’m not sure if they produce anymore I bought mine back in the 1990s and they all ran great!. Great looking toy you’ve got there. Happy gunning!
