It would be awesome if you guys could make improvements the X-Air Edit apps for PC and mobile devices follow the actions being performed on the X-Touch controller, this would be an awesome setup! I would definitely invest in a X-Touch control surface for live sound applications. I love the modular concept. I can have my X-Air mixer essentially act as a digital snake and run a cat 5 cable to my control position in the back with the Tablets, my PC running the app and the surface all working in unison. I really hope Behringer will continue to make these kinds of improvements! Can you guys make more tutorials for the X-Touch for live sound applications?
Definitely! I was gonna ask about that! That should be a mode that you can use or not ! (Cause if the ipad is in the hands of the monitors engineer and you're using the x touch for the FOH it's gonna be annoying xD )
Have been watching a few of your vids. Great stuff. Just a brief question - is it possible to save the sends you set up for various band members and recall them at another date? Would be handy if you could take a snapshot of each send and recall when needed another day. Thanks for the great breakdown on this gear.
Hi ! Do I have to do some routings to connect the xr18 to x-touch on each startup? Or do i have do once ? (By connecting both through an external router) I want that to be a automated connection on each startup after once it got routed. Can I do it?
Just bought X-Touch. Thanks for the magnificent firmware update :) I like it. One thing I don't understand is how to connect both Logic Pro and XR18 - I see I have to use the button at the right of the LED status screen ob X-Touch but how to program that?
For X-TOUCH to work with Logic Pro you will have to connect it to your computer and configure it properly within Logic Pro as a Control device in the setup/preferences menu. Once you've done that, then you can connect X AIR, X-TOUCH and your computer together just as Phil describes (starting @ 2:15) and then make sure your X-TOUCH is set to XCTRL/MC mode. You won't have to program anything on your X-TOUCH, the functionality is already built in. Hope this helps!
So.... if I am right.. X-touch goes to laptop through USB? Then the X Air to X-touch (X-touch acts as a hub right?) and then connect the X-touch AND the X Air wireless for remote control? And.. @26:11 you talk about a hardwire connection first. So can you dive deeper in to this? How to do that? Hardwire the air to the router and set the connection in the app on the pc to tell the Air how to connect to as a wifi client?
X-TOUCH can be connected to X AIR three different ways: 1. Connected to X AIR directly via Ethernet cable 2. Connected directly to X AIR via MIDI 3. Connected via Ethernet to an external router while it's hardwired to the X AIR via ethernet cable. You can also connect X-TOUCH to your laptop via USB to control your DAW software, but this in no way gives you control over X AIR. Hope this helps clarify your questions!
I have a problem. I use X-touch with XR18 in live situations. I control the sends to monitor, but somehow I cant figure out have I control master send from X-touch. I can mix the other musicains blend, but not there master volume. Do I miss something?
Can you please explain how you connected ...x touch Mc mode daw can control not the xr18 ...xct1/mc mode I can control xr18 but not the daw ... please help
@suresh pereria you would have to know what protocol your DAW uses, and make sure it's set up for it. It was easy to use X Touch with both XR18 and Reaper. All I would have to do is start watching from 19:00. All I do is what is being shown and I switch back and forth between Reaper the XR18.
You said that on the X-touch you had one USB-cable to the XR18 and one to your computer DAW. Why can´t you just use the ethernet cable to the XR18 and a USB-cable from the XR18 to. the computer DAW? Do you have to connect via the X-touch to be able to record in the DAW or whats the benefits of doint that?
i got an X18 and i use an ipad to control it just using the internal router of the X18. If i buy a X-touch, can the X-touch connect to that network (the network of the internal router).?
You will have to connect to your mixer via ethernet (using a direct hardwired connection to X AIR or through an external router) or via MIDI cables. So you could either use the internal WiFi and also connect an X-TOUCH via MIDI cables, or use an external router and connect both your iPad (wireless) and X-TOUCH (Ethernet) to your X AIR Mixers for use at the same time.
Can i make track groups with xr18? For example if i connect a multimic drumset to the preamp of xr18, and i want to control every channel of the drumset togheder Thank you
+Aaron Lucas Not sure exactly what parts of this video you are referring to but this is probably because there was nothing assigned to that particular knob function control or the scribble strip information for those channels weren't setup for use during this demonstration.
The flashing "flip" button indicates that the Sends on Fader (SOF) feature is enabled. This will happen when you've selected any of the BUS/FX SOF buttons of X-TOUCH (in the MODIFY and AUTOMATION sections). Pressing the "flip" button when in SOF mode will bring you back to the Main "Global View" of your X AIR Mixer.
Does the X-Touch Compact work with the X-Air XR-18? I need a hardware fader/basic function controller for my XR-18. I hope to get this one when I have more ca$h.
+John Brockman Yes it does! You can check out the X AIR Quick Start Guides for more information on the basic MIDI Implementations of your X AIR Mixer. You can assign these MIDI CC commands to your X-TOUCH COMPACT and use it to control your X AIR Mixer.
+BEHRINGER Thank you for the reply. I had a very difficult time getting the X-Touch compact working with my XR-18 I was so disappointed. I had a weird configuration issue where all the faders were scrolled one down to the ones they represented on the XAir App screen. 1 was physical fader 2, 2 was physical fader 3 and so on. The next day I decided to return it and get the X-Touch. I LOVE THE X-TOUCH via MIDI to the XR-18! Now if I can get it to work via wired Ethernet!. Can I do that???
Both X-TOUCH and X-TOUCH COMPACT can be connected to your X AIR Mixer for remote control, full size X-TOUCH uses the XCtrl protocol where currently the X-TOUCH COMPACT will work best in standalone mode using the X-TOUCH editor software to program your MIDI CC Commands of X AIR. The MIDI CC Implementation chart is located in the X AIR product manuals. We're glad you enjoy using the X-TOUCH full size unit, as it is the most feature rich option for controlling your X AIR Mixer. You can indeed use either hardwired MIDI 5-Pin DIM Cables or a single Ethernet (CAT5) cable to make the connection to your X AIR. Setup methods for both ways are described in the latest X-TOUCH Firmware update documentation (V1.15) which can be found at our website on the X-TOUCH product download page: www.music-group.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/Desktop-Controllers/X-TOUCH/p/P0B1X/downloads Hope this helps!
+William Tettehfio All functionality of X-TOUCH in regards to different DAW software is related directly and exclusively to the way your DAW implements Mackie Control (MC) and HUI control protocols. Please check with your DAW manufacturer for more information on how they implement Mackie Control in their software.
