Let's face it.The reason why so many of the Transformers died in the movie was because of a bad TF healthcare plan. Brawn got shot in the shoulder and died. Wheeljack, WIndcharger, Ratchet and Prowl got shot in the chest and bought it. Prime had a stab wound and passed away. Did Preceptor fix any of them. NO! Because it would have cost too much money, and none of them had a good insurance plan. Ultra Magnus gets blown completely apart on the planet of junk, and the Junkions fix him for free. How is it that the Junkions can fix a robot with much more severe wounds, and Preceptor can'[t even fix a little stab wound. That's just typical galaxy politics for you.
these minibots are tough. BB, wind charger, huffer, lots of scale issues and you have to decide how much deformation is too much. that said, I like this guys looks considering its an XTB toy. great video man, I'm so jealous of your creativity!
I grew up with an insane obsession with sports cars as a kid so I was always drawn heavily to the sports cars transformers (Hot Rod is my favorite, seconded by the Stunticons and then all the Lamborghinis/corvettes/Porsches/etc.) so I'm super glad to see that they made MP scale versions of these guys. I just bought a Cliffjumper and Hubcap so I'll probably wait before buying these two but yeah I'll be getting them. G1 Masterpiece gang represent #justmanchildthings
You enter a dimly lit room. You can feel the barrel of a Glock pressed against your neck. Before you are Boost and Sunsurge. A voice behind you states grimly, "transform or die" who do you pick up?
In spite of the negatives he will look great on the shelf and it's nice to have some representation of the character. one of those things where you just wait to the next representation comes out and go from there. Thanks for the review Bobby B.
I just received my copy and am quite happy with him. I am a bit worried about wear on the windshield and how it slips under his head. It's a pretty tight squeeze, and there seems to be some rubbing. Thanks for your video, it helped me decide which version to buy.
@@cjgriff8921 , ebay from the seller bababobo00712. I've bought several MPs from this seller and is really good. It looks like it may be on sale as well. I quite like it. The transformation is quite fun as well.
I have the second release and I really like him. Wow.... words never used for XTB. As soon as I finish painting a friends MP shockwave, im going to put this dude under the brush as well. Also, funny that for once, I don't have that many issues with the transformation. Just the chest and everything else is actually spot on.
Thanks for the review, man! I agree for the most part, those hands tho'...all I could think was at least these hands don't transform in your most favorite way. Love that intro. Took me a few beats to figure out what you were doing.
Fantastic review skull brother!!! I love the look of the figure in both modes and there's something about it that grabs me and won't let go. Having said all that I know I would of smashed him into a wall while trying to transform him. He looks overly complicated and like you said there is a ton of stress issues. I'd love to see him repainted in black so I could call him K.I.T.T and leave him on a shelf. I gotta admit seeing Wheeljacks lifeless body laying there really hurt. I remember his death like it was yesterday. It was super emotional for me because he was the very first transformer I ever owned. I worked my butt off and saved my allowance and bought Jackie from a store called Playtogs which is no longer in business. I was ten and it feels like yesterday. But look at me waxing all poetic. BTW fantastic line delivered by Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the 89 Batman movie. Thanks for the amazing review and keep up the great work.
I know this comment is old but I got one a while back and he hasn't aged well, I actually broke mine during the first review and failed and when I did the re review I still wasn't super happy with it still. I ended up painting mine black for a video and left tailgate alone so if I ever really needed to experience this mold again I have him for that, the car mode looks as good as you can imagine in black. I wasn't trying to make KITT (I do love knight Rider though and it's not hard to do so if you mask off some of the red for a scanner or make a sticker for it) because as much as I hate this mold it's still the best 80s firebird one can get in toy form that isn't KITT or some special edition version trans am and is just the base model with T-Tops, rear louvers with those funny looking bowling ball hubcaps and those awesome pop up headlights that are almost always broken with one stuck in place LOL I find it almost insulting that not a single diecast/toy car company can't make a proper 80s base model firebird in a nice medium size that isn't KITT, a hot wheels size or those expensive 1/18 models yet a company in china that makes MP style figures can make a really nice looking one in a good size that transforms too. Best I could find was the 1/32 Jada one but it's KITT which would have been fine but the proportions are awful and is an eyesore. Anyway sorry for the long comment, I just noticed you brought up the car and how it would look in black after re watching this video again years later.
Your right on the money with your review. The thing is it's windcharger. He's important to those like myself trying to finish their season 1 collection but not REALLY important. Come on Jazz, Cliff Jumper and Trailbreaker. And while I'm venting a Skyfire (Kronos doesn't exist).
A little touch up paint on the screws maybe? I am not sure how willing I am to enter into the world of modifying my guys, but on this one, I could consider it.
you're right he's better off left displayed than transforming him again. I took a picture of him in car mode before I transformed him. One of the best decisions I've made!
I knew you were gonna do the Knight Rider theme XD I'm turning my Boost figure into K.I.T.T and it is the same vehicle, you are good and you just earned a new sub! :D
Had some more issues with mine than you did - 2 plastic tabs that are covering the screws (the ones on the feet that are part of the sliding mechanism) came off (can be reattached), and the springs popped up over the screws. I had to unscrew them, replace the springs, and put the screws back in. This happened during the leg transformation, so not sure if it was because of a factory issue I have, or over-use of those sliding mechanism's due to the crappiness of the leg transformation. I got the toy version, and I like how he looks in car and robot modes (robot looks better on the toy version by a mile I have to say, thanks to the silver finish on the legs instead of the white, and him being the proper colour in my opinion), but my god, the transformation sucks. Seems X-Transbots have a thing for making the transformation a nightmare on their figures - see Apollyon. Annoyingly they're the only ones doing a Cliffjumper as far as I know, so of course I'll have to get that. Bound to be a pain to transform as well.
Just watching the review puts me at the "I wish this was better" stage. Gonna wait for Hatch. I'm not really big on "G1-ness" since IDW is mainline how I have grown to like these characters (so the Maketoys Tailgate is perfect for me) but I would like an MP like Tailgate.
Love the 89 movie reference. Was waiting to see if your were gonna get up and do the farting airplane exit. Or whatever the hell that was. Lol Nice review!
Thank you so much for this video! The transformation on this one was a pain...But I got through it with your guide lol. One of the worst transformations lol
so much to say while trying not to have an awkwardly long comment. just finished nrr at work and I always pictured you looking like Bruce Willis( especially when you use your firm voice) and what was your earliest tv crush mine was the Flying Nun, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, and the oldest gal on the Golden Girls. I gotta get back on fb
All the crap about which color is toon accurate made me confused, yo. Almost got to the point where I doubted my own identity and tried to steal someone else's. Ever since Ollie, their main issue has been clearance. They end up looking *damn* good, and 95% of the way to the toon in most parts, but their engineer needs an assistant to help weed those issues out. Do that, they're golden! Maybe not on FT/MMC level, but damn close! And I have to admit - I still have a Michael Knight figure from childhood. KITT didn't survive. I keep the Hoff fig just because it's Hoff, and it's funny. Seeing you review it might be hilarious, short but hilarious.
I love that Batman movie Joker quote. I don't like how this toy doesn't scale with the other cars, even though I get he's a mini autobot. But it doesn't work for MP for me. Wardog represents a mini-autobot, but it works better for MP that his tank mode is a little bit more beefy IMO, even if it is still small for the actual tank scale. The screws here are so lazy. Also the g1 toy body is grey, and the cartoon is usually grey also. Why did they go with blue?
+MultiJamesman i think they probably googled windcharger and the first image that came up was on of those few animation cells where it was more of a blueish color... thats all i can come up with lol
Some great work here Bobby, really enjoyed it. Do you think if this type of transformation was used on a big Leader sized character it might be more enjoyable? I think the main issue is the complexity for its size. I find some of the engineering impressive, but with bigger panels, tabs and room to work with the designers ideas might be more appreciated. #rightideawrongbot
I actually got my tires locked in nicely on both versions of the figure, otherwise I agree with you because one of the tabs on the roof (where the legs attach at the start of the car -to-robot transformation) completely broke off, and I hate the way the lower legs transform funny. Apollyon gave me hell, but my Andras is all good. I really hope Arkose is a good one.
-throws hands up- They actually put screws on this, cross screws!! Why couldn't they do that on Arkose?!?! If they did, I wouldn't have a problem with that figure.... Other than that, this figure looks to be a vast improvement since Apollyon & Arkose, will admit.
As much as I love the look, this is going to have to be pass for me. I'll probably wait for it to go on discount before I consider buying it. I only have room for one fiddly Masterpiece-styled 3rd party 'bot, and that's Apollyon. Great review as always.
One man can make a difference, you're proof of that Bro - Knight Rider and Jack's Joker in one vid, awesome Job! Think this guy is a pass for me, don't care for that transformation at all, and bot just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. Too plain. May pick up Buzzing instead as a dry spell filler. Dry spells suck. Still, forager and stomp have been invoiced now so good things are on the horizon.....
Great review, I always feel like X-Transbots makes good looking figures but the quailty (sometimes) is off and some of the transformations can be scary, for this guy those arm and feet transformation is scary! I'll pass on him for now but he does look nice in robot mode. :)
The pontiac firebird is the knight rider car, it was also my first car, which I love. However, the scale with the lambo is opposite what it should be, which I do not love. I wish they had managed to make them at least the same size, its kind of a bummer for me cuz it was not just my fav car (cuz of knight rider) but my first car (probably also cuz of knight rider).
it is the same vehicle as Kitt just doesn't have the red lights in the front I've seen a g1 windcharger painted as kitt to bad xtransbots didn't make a super mode for it like kitt
I’m waiting on mines should be Friday can’t I like it I’ll review it and put it in the box forever we’ll till I get stoned and play with it what ever I like
Unfortunately some bots like him will only ever get one piece while others will have 3 or 4 companies make a version. I'm a transfor once for my masterpiece, if its difficult. I try to transform enough times to get a feeling for the transformation, but then I stop and leave it in my favorite mode for that particular model.
Great review, for the record, he should be about the same size in alt mode as Tracks. I am going to pass on this one. The paint, the size difference and transformation just bother me too much to get him. I do like the head sculpt though.
I think trying to get scale in both modes right would be quite difficult, plus rarely do I leave my bots in alt mode for long. Overall I've been quite happy with how he presents on the shelf.
