Apparently this figure was supposed to come with a matrix, guess they forgot on my copy lol. Also I know how to work the electronics, but as I said, they just don't work. 🤷♂
Emgo, just figured after spending both an obscene and an absurd amount of money on MP and 3rd party collection over the course of the last 7 years, it was long overdue that I thanked you for the value you add to the hobby. I both look to you for figures I might be interested in, and for guidance on those that I would absolutely never be able to transform on my own, nor feel confident enough to if I were to only have some of the other big named TF reviewers to follow through a transformation. I don’t think there’s any way companies like XTB or Fans Toys can understate the value you add to the hobby. I can’t think of any way for collectors who both intend on staying informed and want clear, patient guidance to overstate the value you add. Thank you for truly sheparding so many of us through the hobby…and through transformations so daunting we’d never attempt them on our own. Thank you brother. This version of Ultra Magnus may be my last purchase for a long, long time. I put it off for months after the wide reporting of QC issues and an impossibly complex transformation. After being very disappointed in the studio series offering (I know…apples / oranges…not here to debate that with anyone) I decided after watching your video to take the jump. I just finished the transformation and I am elated that I made it through. No way that would’ve happened w/o you. He’s really such a well realized….fully realized version of the toy I had as a child and the character I recall so well from one of the most important pieces of media from my youth. Huzzah!
Emgo, Man, You make this transformation look so easy and smooth. I watch a lot of reviewers, and most of them have a much harder time with guy. Thank you for showing that it doesn't have to be a complete nightmare lol.
I think they all get in such a hurry to get their review up, they don't fully get comfortable with it first, and it's obvious to e at least, that he takes a minute, and figures out all the little nuances, and get comfortable first. Granted, and I never would've believed this is a thing, but, the ability to transform these things well, is actually a real skill, and he's got a ton of that skill. I don't care how many times I have transformed a figure, how well I know every tab, joint, and panel, there are just some I can never get as fluid as he does. It really is fascinating to see how easily he can fly through a 150 step transformation, that I've watched others pull their hair out, cuss, and break the toy in frustration lol.
"Hot Rod, listen, and you listen close - flying a shuttle is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes." It always amuses me that Magnus' voice actor, Robert Stack, was also Rex Kramer in _"Airplane!"_
You're the only reviewer I know that recommends what screws to loosen if a certain part of the figure is too tight that could potentially break. You are Emgod. 😉
I like how some of these figures has Magnus truck part combined with the rest of the trailer instead of it being its own figure though a little messy to transform on this version
X-Transbots really add those inspirational quotes on their boxes. I commend them for that. With that said, really happy how they (X-Transbots) stepped up their game with these 3rd Party figures. This Ultra Magnus is very clean and very Ultra Magnus looking!
Thank you for changing how you present and transform these toys. All of them come packaged in robot mode. In the past you've presented them in vehicle mode and gone through the process of transforming into robot mode. This new format makes it easier to follow. Please keep on doing what you do best.
X-Transbots is always amazing at making phenomenal looking figures, pretty complex transformations, but arguably worth it. Sucks about the electronics though.. Keep on reviewing Emgo
Holy god this transformation is mad, how you memorize all these steps .... Guess what I found one thing shines me that is your autobots ring looks awesome bro ~
Commander Stack is definitely a well-done figure, but I do wish the electronics worked, and they included a Matrix on yours, Emgo. But I guess that's Q.C. for you. However, I'm personally glad that they didn't go back to the X-Transbots of old, where they were like, "Clearance, Tolerance? Who's needs that." Lastly, as always, loved the ending skit, 36:34. Keep up the great work, Emgo.
hey man!!! I've seen a few vids of folks transforming this guy and they made it look impossible. Almost made me regret my purchase, BUT YOU SIR!!!!! You have given me renewed hope. Great vid!! Thanks for making this look less intimidating, and dare I say look FUN to transform.
Yes! This Magnus looks waaaaaaay better in both robot mode and truck mode. Use this as your main Magnus and the other stays in truck mode. At least this one doesn't have a white Optimus wearing a Magnus armor. He's his own bot.
X-Transbots has been really awesome to watch grow. I remember when hearing this name used to inspire cries of "OH PRIMUS NO!" and now look at them, turning out solid releases with the occasional problems but each time they seem to try to learn.
Emgo, thank you for consistently bringing us great reviews and the best transformation tutorials on the internet. You make the difficult look easy and always easy to follow. Thank you so much!
I haven't come across Ultra Magnus figures that straight up forgo the White Prime mode. The only ones I knew about before was Robots in Disguise 2001 and Prime Beast Hunters. Though those didn't have trailers to combine with in the first place. Did the original masterpiece Ultra Magnus do that to?
If they could drop out entirely the electronics, I'm not much of a fan of that either (because what happens when the batteries leak...), and it would cut back on about a 3rd of the price. At the moment, it is way beyond my budget. But what a phenomenal figure. Screen accurate robot mode, where's the truck?, ... screen accurate vehicle mode (for the most part), where's the robot? Normally I'd like to have the core Optimus robot mode too, but with the wizardry that has gone into making this true masterpiece, who needs that other mode?
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like this guy transforms a whole lot like the Mechanic Studio Magnus? Obviously much more elaborate, but it wouldn't suprise me at all, if that guy was some of the inspiration behind this guy. That's not meant as an insult, as that dude is pretty awesome!
As much as I absolutely love the very clean bot mode on this figure, I suddenly don’t mind the butt flap on my Takara version now, so I think I’ll stick to it 😅
Hey Emgo, your one of the best TF reviewers out there. Keep up the great work. I just wanted to let you know that my Commander Stack came with a matrix already included. You might want check with your supplier cause it looks like you should have got one. Sorry if you already were aware of this.
I keep coming back to this review, but im just not sure if i should drop the $160 for this guy, he looks so good though. Has he held up Emgo? Or did you get rid of him? Im seriously on the fence.
Well now it's time to go watch all the X Transbots reviews you have done. On a side note does anyone know where I can buy replacement rubber tires, both my Rid Optimus and Magnus need new ones (2001 RID versions)
Man I was stuck trying to decide on this or the Youth Version since that comes with extra faces but I think I prefer the darker blue and white faces. Thanks for another great review
The lights in the head require a double press of the button to turn on and 1 press to turn off. The voice box turns on when you hold the button down for 3 seconds. There is no sound saying that it is on. After that you press it each time to say multiple phrases. To turn it off you hold for 3 seconds again.
This is the best representantion of the character in my opinion. I only regret that there isn't the white Optimus inside him! But I'll take it sooner or later anyway.
I think Im just in a funny mood but something about the first half of this transformation is like... bordering on body horror. But like in a goofy way.
It looks great, and I do happen to like and enjoy electronics. That's a shame they don't work, that would disappoint me a lot. The transformation looks like a chore. I'll stick with my Hyper Magnum. 😁😉
BBTS is still holding my mx-22 Commander stack and Mx-4 Abaddon for ransom.... they at least let me know Stack may be coming soon. My god that transformation is insane.
I had a similar issue happen when I got Animated Ultra Magnus many years ago The transformation sound when you put him in robot mode and the firing noises in truck mode worked fine at first. But then I pushed the Autobot symbol on his chest to make him talk and they suddenly started getting finicky
Could you make a comparison with the ER version just for fun? I wanna see how big of a difference is there to see if I can fudge it lmao (I’m not an MP scale collector but I wouldn’t mind having a tall prime next to my SS86 characters
I would like to see a MP Ultra Magnus that transforms into the white Optimus Prime and the trailer connects around him to form the regular Magnus. Yes, it's possible.
