I just absolutely love the miniatures that Fantasy Flight has crafted for both X-wing and Armada (and even Rebellion). The detail, sculpting, and paint jobs on those ships are simply beautiful.
Based partly on this video and your other presentations on 2.0, I finally decided to buy the core set and give it a try. I had recently introduced a new player to 1.0 and now we have played through 2.0. Our decision is that 2.0 is a wonderful change and gives the game a much needed revitalization. I have now purchased all of the new ships and the packets to upgrade all of my ships to 2.0. Thanks so much Crabbock for doing these videos and providing those of us who are merely casual players with some "inside the game" insight.
There are a lot of upgrades that you will have to buy outside of your faction if you want to use them, the business model has not been changed. Barrage Rockets, Agile Gunner, Composure, 0-0-0, BT-1, Maul, Moldy Crow title, there's probably more.
Thanks for the excellent summary! I'm hoping to get back into Xwing now that things are opening back up. I never upgraded from 1.0, so I just ordered my Imperial Conversion kit and I'll soon be ready to bring order back to the galaxy ;)
A gaming store near me was doing a massive sale on all tabletop stuff and so I decided to pick up the core set and Slave 1 for cheap. I've been playing armada and enjoy it so this should be pretty cool
_x-wings and y-wings are already out of stock right from the beginning!_ is it going to be the same bs as the first squadrons from armada that are STILL out of print and going for 10 times their price on ebay?
So, as far as I get it is that if you already have the core set for 2.0, it's actually a good idea to buy the core set for 1.0 since the plastic bases of the ships are the same size and the ship detail cardboard base fits on it. Plus additional obstacles, dice and manoeuvre templates for a lot more cheap. Or am I mistaking?
I thiiiink so, i know that the pilot cardboard that fits into the bases dont work for the new edition because the pilot skills dont line up anymore and the diles are different. But if you get sticky notes and a hole punch you can cover up the pilot skill and write your own numbers
Thanks for all the videos you have posted. I'm like you and fly all 5 current factions. I bought 2 core sets and a conversion kit for the first 3 factions and have ordered a kit for the new fractions coming. I'm looking forward to clone wars.
I bought the Scum Conversion kit and noticed that there were no Mangler Cannon or M3-A Title cards. Checked on the App and couldn't find them either. Were they removed from the game due to being too OP? Also, on the App I'm trying to build a squad but I can't upgrade my M3-A with Engine Upgrades. But I can add it to my HWK. There seems to be no restrictions on the Engine Upgrade or M3-A, so why can't I upgrade it?
Thanks so much that explains a lot cuz I had no idea what changes were what. I was planning on starting with one faction because of cost. But I'm wondering with X-Wing expanding to 7 factions I wonder if they're going to have rules on mixing factions and who would scrum be ok to mix with
In the rules reference the ordnance symbol, means "no range bonuses for attack". I read that to mean the attacker won't get any bonuses, but that implies the defender will still get an extra die at range three. Thoughts? Also, as for target lock, you are allowed to measure after announcing a lock attempt. Now you must announce target lock attempt, but you can then measure all ships to decide which to lock. Another good video, keep 'em coming!
I’m really happy with the majority of changes. I’m concerned that new pilots, etc. will be introduced when individual ships are released wave 3 and beyond. E.g., the b-wing, which was included in the conversion kit, is re-released as its own expansion for 2.0 and includes new stuff. That would suck, and the urge to continue to throw money at fantasy flight must be resisted. But regardless, love the content crabbock, and I appreciate your use of the range ruler as a pointer in this vid.
There will be new cards added to the waves, but I believe there will be an cheaper option for veteran players to buy the cards without having to re-buy ships they already own
Josh Jorgensen Perhaps. Maybe I just haven’t read anything about it, but I’m not going to hold my breath. It seems like you are suggesting what I’ll call a ‘wave-kit’. So if this happens, we assume b-wings, tie bombers, and the Khiraxz are all in wave 3, maybe new pilots and upgrades will be sold separately? Sounds awesome, but again, unless there is something I missed ( if there is, please provide a link), I won’t hold my breath.
Could you confirm another change I saw in a video? When declaring target lock action, it seems you can now measure all ships and obstacles on the board before deciding which one you lock on. It that true?
Yes that is true. It says so in the rules reference. "1. Measure range from the locking ship to any number of objects. 2. Choose another object at range 0-3."
1st Edition will longer be officially supported. You can purchase conversion kits that hav new dials, tiles, tokens, and cards to convert to 2nd edition. You can still play 1st edition, but the competitive X-Wing scene will be playing 2nd.
I got into xwing minitures about a year ago apparently right before 2.0 came out didnt even know or realize it because I bought all the 1.0 ships and I got out of it for 4/5 months because lack of people to play with and now I got back into it and just discovered about 2.0 and I already invested too much money in 1.0 to switch, so this sucks for me lol
Ok I’m starting to warm up to 2.0 a little bit more. Thanks for the video. If you get a chance play a game with the tie punishers, that could bring me back.
Punishers as medium-base ships are a ton of fun to fly. Redline with proton torpedoes for only 53 points is fantastic as he can focus and target lock without stress every round.
During x-wing 1.0 I used them as bombers a lot, but just as I study the punisher in 2.0 there dial is better. I’m willing to run redline and deathrain with a bunch of missiles and torpedoes with capt jonus for rerolls!!
Yeah I'm not a fan of any of the new mechanics... I fortunately have a large enough collection to just stick to what ive got and play in house "oldwing"
Lol you peasants actually use the cardboard they give you. If you have a printer machine just go online to "YASB 2.0" and put the cards in the trash. You'll save so much time and space. Trust me. So much easier. P.s I was just joking with the peasant thing btw
The same thing happened to mine. You should take a hobby knife and break the paint/glue between the main body and the wings. Be careful and eventually it will loosen.
You seem to be the most knowledgeable when it comes to all 3 FFG Star Wars games. Great Stuff!! Keep em coming! I'm already a big Legion player and because of your videos, I've bought X-wing 2.0 Starter and X-wing Booster as I'll be playing rebels. Any Idea if FFG will release a 2.0 version of the Corellian Corvette?
So not only is X-wing 1.0 stuff obsolete, but the X-wing 2.0 stuff requires an app to actually play properly?!?! That just doesn't feel right for a board game.
I don't think I'll be paying them any more money Tbh... Might look for secondhand 1st edition stuff but that's it. Also when will 3rd edition hit and then 4th?
Hi, great vid mate. I’ve got ships for the empire, rebels, resistance and first order. Am I now going to have to buy conversion kits for all 4 factions and get a core stater set too? That’s going to be few shiny coins indeed.
Is there any way to convert other then conversion kits? For example i have inherited some extra v1 core sets so now i have 8 ties. But the kits only convert 4. Do i really need to buy 2 just to convert over the extra ties even though i dont need ANY of the other items in the kit?
Hey C. Thanks for the 2.0 recap. Did you manage to hear when approximately would the resistance and first order conversion kits would become available while attending GenCon? My TIE SF pilots are super depressed these days. LoL. Keep up the great work. I’d love for you to redo a tutorial for 2.0 when you get a chance. Cheers man. Be well.
It would be interesting to combine "Armada" with "X-Wing" to include epic ship combat. I haven't touched Armada though, and am not sure whether that is feasible.
The scale would be off. The epic ships in x wing are much smaller in Armada. If you put a YT-2400 from X Wing next to a Gozanti in Armada it would be twice the size of it.
Changed the damage cards? Why!? So I have to spend more money just to get the damage cards. This bs! I play scum and villainy so the core box is useless for me......
Love your videos - I have a question about ship facing. I only had a chance to assemble my new Lando's Falcon before leaving for vacation, and the ship does not face straight forward on the peg. It looks like something similar is going on with your x-wing in this video. Do you know if this is an intentional change?
Pulled my xwing stuff out of storage after about a 2 year break to discover this shitstorm! I'm afraid to update a year into 2nd edition because 3rd edition is likely right around the corner...
I think that would be unlikely, I believe we went about 6 or so years with first edition and we're only a year and a half into second edition, not to mention each faction still has tons of ships that can be added or reprinted(except sequel factions I guess, but time and continued development of the time period will fix that I'm sure).
Not that old. Clone Wars era factions at this point - but I suppose KOTOR timeline is possible at some point. If that were to happen, I think it would be in the future after an Old Republic based TV show comes out on Disney's streaming service.
I don't know what to tell you except that I just put a TIE from the last core set up against a TIE from this core set, and the bumps matched up perfectly. All the old bases still work just fine, which is why conversion kits only come with medium bases.
No more flying wedge flying with Poe????? and no more flying Quick draw Darth Vader ???? so only faction fly with faction. if that is true I think that's good.
The rules reference states: "Ships from different faction will not typically fly together" So I take that to mean that in tournaments only one faction per squad. I agree, that is a good thing.
@@Zavakar yeah its too late lol. I got 2 core games and 2 expansions pack (heroes and aces) extremely cheap. Been having a blast with friends. But who knows if I plan to make the 2.0 jump theres the conversion kits... Though most say 2.0 is a travesty 🤔
If they are going crazy with the factions, shouldn't they create multiple different scum factions? I mean, scum is not an united faction. They should basically introduce a new faction for every real scum factions. So, they should make a few different Hutt factions. Basically every headhunter/mercenary should be their own faction. That would be amazing for gameplay, if you really had only like 1 or 2 (unique) ships per faction. Maybe make it more realistic and limit pilots and upgrades for each faction. Why should Han/Chewbacca be allowed to fly their Millenium Falcon with any other upgrades than in the movies? And Luke should only be allowed to fly with R2D2!
@@MasterNeptor geez oh man! why the heck won't they fix it? I just purchased a bunch of stuff to convert from first edition to second edition. I hope I didn't make a mistake...
