I love how there is no agression in their moves. It could be, but there isn't. Even when they are lifting each other it's SO gentle. I love it, it itself sends a message how they are delicate with each other. It's beautifull

I discovered kitchen light and yellow not even two days ago and I've heard dozens of times each, they are songs that make you think "I don't know how I lived before knowing this", specially this one. I've watched this 10 times this evening and cried every time. Nothing hurts like trying desperately to hold onto a love that is pulling away. My take on the jacket: I see it as a symbol of who has the armor and who is vulnerable. When she starts off alone, Xana has the jacket. The lover comes along and her initial vulnerability coaxes Xana to become vulnerable herself, but that's just when the lover starts to pull away. As Xana is singing about her vices and struggling with sobriety (not sure if this is literal or metaphorical for her), she's wearing the jacket again - anybody who has loved someone who struggles with addiction or other self-destructive vices knows what an armor those things are, with those who love them being vulnerable to the pain they cause when their vice is in the driver's seat. Then she sees her lover pulling away and armoring up again, and she becomes vulnerable in her desperation to connect but it's too late at this point. In the end, it's her vices/inner darkness holding her back as her lover walks away, and they are both wearing a jacket. She fights desperately to get out of the grip of the darkness, but when she finally breaks free, the door is already closed and she's left alone and vulnerable, no jacket, curled up in a fetal position by the door. 💔 my interpretation might be totally different from Xana or the director's original intent IDK, but that's one of the cool things about art is that it means different things to different people.

I just discovered this amazing song and video, I can't stop watching. Did anyone else noticed the jacket that gets passed back in forth between them? I think that is supposed to symbolize the love that they shared together. When her lover leaves she's wearing it like she is taking a piece of her when she goes. It's such a small detail but so beautifully executed. This music video is truly a work of queer art. I wish I had this kind of representation when I was younger.

This is so beautiful. I just start sobbing watching and listening because the music and choreography alone illicit that response. Watching how you two are so in sync at the beginning, then every step she makes is a reaction to yours and she starts to pull away more and more until she’s completely doing her own thing while you desperately try to cling on. And the whole time of the relationship you’re always showing emotion but even when the relationship was happy and in sync she had an empty look on her face, implying that the relationship never meant as much to her as it did to you. I’m absolutely obsessed with this song and video. I can’t wait to hear more music by you.

Ahh and just rewatching it noticing how you reuse certain choreography but it changes as the relationship does. First she catches you and brings you back up, then she catches you and eventually lets you fall, and finally she literally grabs you and pulls you down to the ground. She places her hands over your eyes and mouth to guide you and then by the end you’re trying to force her hands there as she fights it. Literal chills.

Beautiful song, voice, video. I love interpretive dance. I see some interpretations and they are all valid. Here's mine. What I saw was two people who fell in love but both of them having issues. One a little more than the other. Maia was growing more cold and distant but, for a while, the love was still there. At the end, they get into an argument. Maia was drunk and stormed off. The doors closing and all the white makes me feel like Maia probably drove drunk and died. The people holding Xana back are her doubts/mixed emotions. Xana desperately wanted to stop Maia from leaving, to chase after her and embrace her but her doubt/mixed emotions held her back. And the desperation on her face feels like the kind when you are desperate to protect a loved one but can't. I might be transferring though. I was in a sightly similar situation. Used to have a drinking problem. Was practically blackout drunk. I don't remember what I said, but I remember she ran out of my house crying. I remember running after her until she walked through my front door and then I came to a dead stop. I don't even know why I stopped. I still regret not going after her.... Damn, I can't wait to see you in concert. Got me getting deep over here.
