Xavier is a really cool commander that can be build in so many different ways: Super friends, proliferate, populate, sagas... I wanted to build him with around some cool combos and the various synergys he has with other cards, so the video was perfect for me

I have zero interest in combo. I am planning on slamming in some bug fun stuff like Kiora Bests the Seas God, Reef Worm, and Watcher in the Water.

You can definitely built it as a theme deck if you wanted to, since this is essentially a nod to Pirates of the Caribbean.

Now this a sultai deck I can get excited about. My brother plays a Tameshi Solemnity combo deck, so I'd have to add extra Enchantment answers to make sure the game plan can't get shut down!

My plan is to go sea monster & Saga tribal, but focus on making token copies of Value things. The dream is to make enough Hullbreaker Horrors to turn all of my spells into cyclonic rifts. Magical Christmas Land for sure, but I think it'll be easier than you'd think with all the populate mechanics.

Nice! Flavorful *and* viable! Populating copied creatures is definitely an amazing thing. Helm of the Host copying Xavier Sal was such a busted experience when I pulled it off in testing.

So I’ve been messing around with different builds and the first was sea monster/saga. Played really fun, I just didn’t have even sagas that fit, so added a couple other permanents that had counters to remove. Cumulative upkeep enchantments like mystic remora and elephant grass and depletion lands. The hard part of going the populate route is consistency having good counters to take off

Just picked up my first win with Xavier this evening. I still need to fine-tune my deck, but it's quite good already.

@TheCommanderTavern I was able to loop Puppeteer Clique by sacrificing it to Xavier Sal, and when persist brings it back Arwen gave it a +1/+1 counter to negate the -1/-1 counter, then Intruder Alarm untapped Xavier Sal. With that, I got every creature out of their graveyards.

I wonder if a mystic remora would fit, 1 drop, has a counter that you'd definitely want to get rid of.

Some people actually find these kinds of things fun. The best thing about the game is that there are strategies for everyone. You find it boring? Don't play with it. It's a wondrous thing.
