How to RGH / Ext_Clk your Zephyr Xbox 360 Console.
My soldering is better than this. It was mainly to show where the points go. Keep your exposed wire to a minimum and ensure you have nice solid connections.

hi, Thanks for covering EXT_CLK. Few notes: 1) Please beware that CPU gets a lot hotter. You should place the fan another way in case of long glitch to XeLL. 2) XeLL always boot slower, don't worry if boot to XeLL is slow. 3) Music is too loud, distracting. Otherwise good!

Thanks for the feedback. The audio plays differently in Shotcut. I adjusted the gain but it must need to go down more. In Shotcut it plays at an OK level.

Is there anything special you should do with the cool runner. I see that you need to desolder something on the matrix though would this be needed for the cool runner? Is it important to solder the cap for example?

Nope. Coolrunner can stay as it is. No need for a cap either

I got it all done and it near instant boots into Xell. After that, it just doesn't boot up at all. Edit: I was usually told that Jrunner would handle bad blocks but I suppose not. Thankfully I got my CPU key and KV and just ended up making a donor NAND and flashed it in Xell. The Xbox began to boot up just fine after that.

this method doesnt work on this Service Date 2011 Zephyr. tried 2 different chips rev c & matrix v3. dont know why i even attempted this.

I'm trying to do this on a Xenon but it ain't booting to Xell. I made sure to roure the wires as best as possible avoiding noisy areas. I'm using 28 AWG single core wire and my solder points look solid. I've tried all suggested timing files and my Mateix glitchers blue LED flashes twice rapidly and then once more after. Has anyone else had this issue? Naturally, I'm going to recheck everything again but suggestions would be great.

What cable did you use to program the Matrix v3 chip? I can't find any kits that come with the programming cable.

And what about Jprogrammer v2? Which cables should I solder/connect, and which should I Solder and also where, to connect it properly to Matrix V3 and motherboard? Tutotial is nice, but not complete.

Actually I have old one X360 Zephyr, I want to renew it for my kid, and I don't know what Should I do with this unit and with "EXT_CLK" method. I did RGH3 "fix" for two units of Coronas, works very well, but this is a little too complicated for me, right now. Hi, I have a dead Xbox 360 White Fat model, looks exactly like yours with an HDMI port on the back. Could hacking it like this make it work? The console turns on but I can't access the main menu and it directly prompts me with an error message failed to update 13146 (I tried to update with a Fat32 USB stick but nothing happens...)

@@OPUS_TV I bought a 60gb one (officialXbox, the grey ones that go on the top) yesterday, plugged in but it didn't change anything. As I don't own any other Xbox 360 I can't be 100% sure the drive is working but I think so. This type of USB issue seemed pretty common, there's a lot of old comments from 2011 talking about it but none saying how they fixed it (if they even did). That's why I'm thinking about hacking it, could it be done in such conditions?

@@Ukysseus If the console is working fine and you can get to the dashboard. Then yes, you can update it via modding by building a 17599 Freeboot image

I followed the steps verbatim and can't get my Zephyr to glitch. I've double and triple checked soldering and all looks well. I've even tried removing the 48mhz crystal from the Matrix chip but no luck. Any suggestions?

I recently took my xbox 360 (zephyr) to a store to make the RGH modification. They returned the console practically useless because they made RGH3 and it never started. They never told me what happened, it was not until I disassembled the console that I could see what they did. Researching on the internet I understood that they did the process wrong because that motherboard does not support the RGH3. I want to know what options I have to recover the console. The last time I tried to turn it on I got the 3 red lights. I really need your help.

@@terryc9059 If the RGH3 wiring is there, then remove it. Hopefully they wrote back the retail nand dump

@@terryc9059 As long as the NAND Chip and headers are ok, then you can follow my tutorial and install a chip and write over Xell and get it modded / functional again

@@OPUS_TV Hi there, "quick update"; They didn't write back the retail nand. I removed the RGH3 wiring, but nothing happened. I bought a Matrix v3 glitch chip and a Pi Pico to read the nand. If I follow your tutorial, is possible that the Xbox works again? Using a donor nand?

@@terryc9059 If the console gets successfully recognised in JRunner than you can write Xell straight to it, wire up the glitch chip and hope it boots. You will need to use a fork of the Pico Flasher firmware called dirty Pico. That will allow you to flash the Matrix. When you say "nothing happens" is that no power or it powers on but doesn't boot? If its no power, connect the Pico and see if you can write Xell. Then try powering it on. If it still doesn't power, then something else is wrong and it's not worth the time trying to diagnose and repair it.

Yes it works for Xenon but there are a couple of differences. You need to remove the capacitor where the RST point is and the CLK point is different because it uses ANA and not HANA. There are pictures in the official download. You can build any XeBuild providing you have the files to do so

It's trial and error really. Try the ones in the Xenon or Zephyr boxes in JRunner first. Chances are one of those will work the best

@@GEEKSQUAD1985 You can use a Pico to read the NAND yes. You could use the dirty Pico fork to flash the Matrix chip. But tbh I would recommend getting a JRPv2 as they're cheap and can do both by default

Yes it does. But the CLK point is different as Xenon uses ANA rather HANA I will make another tutorial at somepoint for the Xenon

For the most part, yes. The CLK is different for a Xenon, follow the pictures in the download. You also need to remove the capacitor for RST on a Xenon

JRunner will automatically select the Falcon bootloader for Xenon and Zephyr
