Xbox got you to double and triple dip. Got the console, paying for gamepass, and then you got yourself paying for the games on steam. What I've found is that for those who are PC guys who are 100% all in on steam, some will use gamepass as a way to play or try games they other wise wouldn't, and if they really like the game, they'll go buy it on steam. And I'm just like them lol, except I lean a little more into Xbox, have a console, and don't mind the Xbox launcher on PC, and they are actively improving it - much better than it used to be years ago
The biggest feature nobody talks about is if u buy the game on xbox u can play it anywhere u dont have to buy it 3 times u buy a xbox game u have access on pc n mobile without rebuying the game
yeah it's quite nice.. I bought the FF pixel remaster bundle the other day on xbox, fire up my pc and open the xbox app and they're available to play on there as well.. If it were playstation I would have had to rebuy them and have 2 separate games on 2 separate platforms with 2 different save files.. I hated it because I used to do that with ps4 and steam. Now with xbox and pc I can share games between xbox and PC and the saves SYNC and I just pick up where I left off on the other platform.. it's real nice.
@@stewarde17 there is more features on steam, than the windows store. Steam for a while now has led service. They had cloud saves before sony and nintendo for example. They had native streaming before playstation. when everyone currently is switching to arbitration agreements. They are switching to courts (which is a positive for the consumer) While the EU essentially forced them to have good return policy. The console services are still draconian. While PC players primarily used vent, ts3, and now discord. We also had and still have some of the best community services on steam. The steam forum is better than reddit and gamefaqs. And now they've also partnered with arch-linux to try and make linux even more competitive against windows.
That is why Steam OS is the biggest threat to Microsoft Windows. Imagine every PC gamer using Steam OS, it would hurt Microsoft more than Sony ever could.
The next xbox should be called codename virus. Xbox is spreading onto ps5, amazon stick, TVs, phones, and the consoles. If xbox leaves consoles to die the xbox logo wont die ever.

They still haven't loaded up a month's worth of quality games in that time that I want to play, don't already own, or can't get on PS+ extra. I love when games come on gamepass and subscriptions are great, it's just super rare gamepass gets a game.

@@philbosh03 We don't know the specifics other than they plan to make a handheld device ie. trying to tap into the success of Steam Deck, Switch etc. Personally, I think if their next device doesn't meet expectations then they will exit the hardware market entirely. Software & services is Microsoft's future in the video game sector.

I hate Xbox accessories. PS are so much nicer. But I’m going back to Xbox (upgrading to series X from ps4) because they give you the best bang for your buck! PS is like the iPhone Xbox is like Samsung. I can’t wait to play NCAA
And that's ok... PC players can play Xbox games there while console players can play Xbox games on Playstation... We are all happy, we just choose which platform to play on: console or PC... The problem is people not understanding that most console players don't want/care for PC same as for them... But they get angry(and I don't count the Xbox console refugees, they are just salty because they had to go PC and now are pushing another "console war")
I think this all can be concluded by saying: Microsoft needs a better f*cking app. because in theory you could buy your games on xbox console (the one with play anywhere which is almost all the game pass games) and then you have the game twice! However, i understand you want to enjoy steam... but did you know that you can add non-steam game in your steam library? I wonder if this would fix all your issues instead of re-buying all your games.
I wouldnt recommend buying a game on a different launcher if you allready have it on a different one. Just dont have your P.C start up to steam. You really should just be buying a game once. Or if your paying for xbox gamepass ultimate then you should only be buying a couple new games max. Unless you got the money to blow.

You're not trippin' Doc, Steam is the best digital games platform in gaming and it's not even close. I do think you would have just stuck with playing the games on the Xbox app via GamePass, if you did not have your PC hooked up to your TV. But that's the way you like to play. 🤷♂️ There are workarounds to get GamePass games to launch on big picture mode, but not all games work that way, so it's meh.

I kinda stop gaming on my Xbox as well. I’m still gaming 4+ hrs a day. I just didn’t appreciate the rising amount in Gamepass but PC players have been catered to. I don’t like the energy anymore at Xbox.
As Sony lost massive money from Concord and removes a disc drive from their pro which they'll most likely be selling at a loss. What a terrible double edged sword just to get that power narrative.
What actually matters. Making money. PlayStation is dominating console sales, but their margins are razor thin and overall they are spending more money to generate roughly the same revenue/ profit. This is completely unsustainable which is why they pivoted so hard to GAAS games. On the other hand, through acquisitions and expanding their addressable audience, the size of the Xbox business has grown significantly. It is not good for Sony that Sea of Thieves, a 6 year old Xbox game outsold a lot of the games they spent money on moneyhatting. Now, the 70% ABK makes from COD on PS5 goes to Xbox. So, their box is essentially being turned into a box to play their competitor’s games. The more copies of Xbox games they sell, the better Xbox does. In 2022, Sony made nearly $1B from COD, and at the time they had an 80/20 split with Activision. MS owns Activision now and they have a 70/30 split with Sony. Xbox spends $1B on third party GamePass deals. Which means, COD sales on PS alone will more than cover their GamePass costs for third party content. Not to mention whatever they’ll make from Nintendo. Their business is just more sustainable and setup for the future. Meanwhile Sony is desperately looking for ways to expand their reach to make their strategy more sustainable. Remember the business is selling software and services, not a plastic box.

You don't need to make back money spent if your assets grow. If I spend 500k on a house and my house is worth now 1 mil do I need to make my 500k back? Since Microsoft is publicly traded company, they just need their revenue/profit to grow which will lead to shareholders making money on dividends/trading shares.

Xbox is releasing their games on PlayStation, PlayStation are trying to get PSN hard locked on PC, this is obvious because they are currently not selling their games to like 180 Countries... They want to hard lock PSN on PC so they can wiggle in PS Plus... They want PS Plus on PC because they want to charge to play their multiplayer games online.... Microsoft think because they have World of Warcraft now they'll be able to wiggle the sub model on PC, not realizing WoW is grandfathered in and PC players will not give in to PC subscription. You nailed it in the beginning of the video... They messed up by releasing their games to PC players, and so has Sony... They are banking on getting subscriptions on PC for online multiplayer with their games... PlayStation through PS Plus first, then Xbox through gamepass... they are actively working together to get that done, I don't need to prove that Xbox is literally selling their games on PlayStation... You're a very rare breed man, many people wont juggle gamepass on top of PC and Steam... No one likes gamepass, its not growing at all on PC which is why their finding tricky ways to make it appear like users are going up through fire sticks, when all thats doing is sparking curiosity in people who have gamepass and a fire stick... For example, lets say you are an Xbox user, and you have gamepass because it is required to play your games online, not because you want gamepass, and you have a fire stick... well now curiosity will strike and you'll log in on your fire stick to check it out.. and now you are 2 active users... now multiply that many times over... that's how these ding dongs are growing users... its smoke and mirrors homie... Notice how Spencer ALWAYS says "on the console platform" ... thats because that trash ain't movin' at all on PC man... and it wont grow, as more people start to move over to PC and realize they've been ripped off with gold memberships and PS plus memberships its done... For as profound(obvious) of a revelation as Doc has made here, something to consider when choosing between steam and the Xbox app is the Xbox eco system and its intergration. Because there are a lot of their games that do give you dual entitlement between PC and console, but more so their cross saves between PC Console and Cloud are terrific and seemless and if your into achievements everything is universal and you got your Xbox friends list there and many of the games are cross play too. Steams pc platform does Trump Xbox ap right now and big picture mode is a lot better since it’s a copy of steamdeck OS, but I think when the next XBox and newest version of windows comes out you will see a big overhaul in how Xbox is implemented on PC. Now that these portable gaming pc handhelds are an established market and Xbox rumored to be making their own you will see them design something more console gamer centric for pc.
The gamers that have a platform where more games are available are winning. If sony and Microsoft put their games on PC, pc gamers are winning. If Microsoft put their games on playstation, playstation gamers are winning. If xbox doesn't get other companies to put their games on xbox, xbox gamers are getting the short end of the stick. That is just fact no matter how the xbox fanboys wanna sugarcoat it. Who cares what companies get the money? The point as a gamer is to having more games on your platform of choice. Indiana jones on playstation that is a win for playstation gamers, bethesda used to get a percentage, now Microsoft will get a percentage, who cares? Either way 3rd party publishers have always split a 70/30 percent to put games on platforms. Everyone is winning except for those stuck on the platform that gets less. Xbox gamers should be demanding sony put their games on xbox too instead worrying about a corporation pocket.
Don't continue to be foolish with your money, if you stop paying for Game Pass and just buy your games on Steam. This will save you money going forward. Choose wisely.
I’ve done the same thing. I got Alien Isolation for free on the Epic Games Store but I wanted it for Steam so I could play through and get achievements. Granted, it was very cheap compared to what you spent, but I do get the idea that you’re talking about here.
Steam big picture, steam link, steam input, adding non steam game's on steam, steam remote play outside home locks people into steam. I always laugh when people say it is just a launcher, but when you use it, you start to understand steam is more than a game launcher.
I think the reason you bought all those games you have already completed is because you're still thinking there should only be one winner. Just because you like steam doesn't mean you should be all in on one company.

Someone that HAVE PLAYED game already on GamePass and still buy it later on Xbox/Steam is making them a ton of money. They are double dipping it. He is maintaining subscription AND paying for their games. They won big there. Microsoft is perfectly fine in Xbox players playing only gamepass games because it's steady revenue and not shared with other publishers like Steam. Anything they sell on PC/PlayStation is only bonus to them.

Call of duty by itself multiplat makes Xbox 70% of the revenue for each copy purchased on PlayStation. Imagine Doom dark ages when it comes out.Game pass makes them at the very least 4 billion per year with a billion dollar yearly budget for services. They make more money by not having to rely on the consoles to have customers play their software. Clear count is more important than console sales. You can have a billion people buying a PlayStation but it's meaningless if none of the customers are buying the software

It will make money back quicker than you think. And remember all they original wanted was King, unable to buy separately they purchased all of it. King mobile store and expertise is real end game product. 70% of gaming market is made via mobile, with their own store and own games they make 100% profit on them without having to pay Apple or Google.
