Yeah. It was just a bad idea, all together. Don't get me wrong it works every time, you don't actually drill the screw, the bit just spins on top of the pin a couple revs before one of the drill flutes catches the pin and breaks it away. I have personally always preferred videos that used methods to get around special tools, but I suppose most don't share that opinion.

They're the same as they have been using sine the xbox 360. If you know how to use a de soldering iron, they're pretty easy to replace and you can pick them up for about $2.50 a piece. How do you keep breaking them? The only problem I have ever had is the click wearing out.

I break them by clicking the LS and changing directions in sports games mostly from up to down. I desoldered a 360 one and you can tell the whole thing is better made more durable. The problem is its impossible to replace, the soldering joints are reversed between the two

Yeah, I did. Sadly :(. I did find a few online stores that sell 'em. I'll try scraping off the plastic cover first, see if I can get all 6 pins to show (like a copperwire on that rubber tubing thingy). I hope they improve the overall design on bumpers. I've changed the bumper thrice on my elites and the film just gave up with the repeated removal and insertion smh.

Yeah dunno how you play but generally the xbox bumpers take like shit to people who button mash. I see some that last a long time, and other that just don't. If you watch my elite controller review video I get into it a little bit. These things no doubt need to be much more robust.

What are the chances of stashing that elite PCB inside the frame of an Xbox S Controller and Shell? I understand the S faceplate would need a cutout on the front for the profile slider. But apart from the bumper assembly clip on, everything else looks almost the same.

I hadn't really thought about it to be honest. The fastener still works just as well afterward, and now takes a more common T8. Bear in mind you aren't drilling into the scew or even putting pressure behind the drill. Just catching a flute from the drill bit onto the security pin to break it out. Ive been taking apart xbox controllers since the Duke controller to fix or frankenstein them. The xbox 360's controller was the first with this security torx and they have since use the exact same fastener. I was relatively young when that system came out and special tools like a torx security set were not really accessible to me, so I came up with this solution and have used it since with success.

You're not drilling screws. You're breaking off the security pin. These are course thread screws into soft ABS plastic. You won't strip them unless you're a complete moron, and if thats the case, taking this controller apart isn't for you. I wanted this video to be approachable. I figured people were more likely to have a drill laying around than a t-8 security bit. If you want to wait, and spend 5 dollars, great, but get you're fucking cheese comments out of here. Like I said I have done this for years. It's never once not worked. Also, some bonus fun. I'm usually not a grammar nazi but you're gonna seriously call me genius ironically and spell genius wrong? I would never suggest using a drill . Me and the guys here in our tech shop had a good laugh over this lol. Just buy a security screw set ! it's like 15-20 bucks lol.

Dude why so hostile? If you don't have the tool on hand while you're doing the job your $6 ain't no fucking good at all. As I said, I have been using this method for years. As in, before prime, back when you seldom shopped on the internet and amazon sold books only. I don't do that to save money, I do it like that because I've got the stuff on hand. Any pined security bit, any size, this works. Why the fuck would I wait two days and spend $6 for no reason? Why would you wait two days and spend $6 for no reason. I did that to show that you can take the controller apart with either what you have, or what you can get at a local store... I made this video to appeal to people. If they saw me using a special screwdriver they aren't going to buy that driver online and wait, they're going to hop on another video that shows them how to open it without a special tool.
