Yeah I think that is where I went wrong with the PS4 first model I tried to fix recently. I didn't make doubly sure that the 19 pins were all connecting to the solder on the board. I am new and trying to learn the HDMI port fix. This video was helpful. Thanks from somebody trying to make console repair his main income at home.

Thanks for the video man. I got screwed buying an Xbox One and it would cost more than I payed for it to get the hdmi port fixed by a pro so now I’m learning how to replace surface mount components... and ripped pads lol.

I broke the first 150-200 laptop motherboard while experimenting, maybe 10-20% I could repair. But they were not from customers and I did not try to get my fail repaired by other services. These laptops are since then a big spare parts store...

I always solder the wires onto the pin. You say "as long as your hands don't shake" but honestly if you look at my videos you'll see my hand is no where near steady and I'm still able to do it without issues

No he can't fix anything, the more complicated/technical jobs he struggles. He's an expert on microsoldering and has a ton of spare parts for everything, and these 2 things are worth gold.

I didn't see in the video where you solder the top side of the 4 x HDMI posts, only the bottom, is this not necessary if the bottom is soldered. The factory Port posts are soldered both sides?

Use a lot of Flux and it should work! They sell the same wick used in the video on their website

Those squiggles and the way it's routed indicate these are high-speed length-matched differential pairs. The jump wire works for low frequency signals but might not have adequate signal integrity on high speed busses.

@@_mylastname the goal is to get all the signals to arrive at the same time, so theoretically, yes, they should meander to make up the distance... But in reality, the width of the line, the distance from the reference plane make this not very straightforward in practice

Tracks on the board are curved so they all have the same length, just for the timing of the signal on them

Im all for people trying to learn how to do board level repair. Yeah its can be a big pain having to repair the extra damage. However when i get a console sent to me from another shop because the shop messed it up thats what really gets me mad. Practice on your own equipment not stuff that you are charging customers for.
