Hey, you've got to give him props for the previous attempt. He actually managed to remove the old HDMI port and solder a new one on (albeit, incorrectly) without damaging the pads.

This I happened to do this kind of repair where I soldered everything in just one solder blob. It got me thinking as to what could be the cause and I came to realize that at time the heat wasn't enough or my iron tip had a problem. My flux as well. But the less heat of the iron coupled with inexperience was the primary cause.

is amazing you can remove a hdmi port without ripping the traces, then fit a new one bridging every pin in the process. guessing he didn't have solder wick. ps if you brigde all the pins you get 24k output, but unfortunately no TV supports this resolution at this time . he's a trail blazers 🤭

After watching so many videos, I still do not get it, why people try repairing for themselves with such results.. When I was unsure if I could fix it myself I would send it to you immediately instead of making it much more difficult for you in the end... So cool you were able to fix it Alex, better than factory and the short is gone.. But to be honest.. I did not expect anything else when you do it :-D Best wishes from Germany, Michael

it IS a technique , connect all pins as a customer did and than use bevel type soldering tip to grab the unnecessary solder from the pins , take seconds to do and you get all the pins nice and clean. sure , to take full price for install was need to redo all , include the new port .
