Personally I like the AA battery slots with the option of a battery pack, I've had soooo many issues with my PS4 controllers not taking a charge then having to order a new battery, and having to tear it apart to do so. I vastly prefer to be able to go to walmart, grab a battery pack and slap it no without issues. I think in the long term xbox controllers will outlive ps controllers from a PC gamer's perspective.
That’s a very reasonable opinion, I have not ever used a PlayStation controller long term, but having using an Xbox controller for a while, buying new batteries every time I need them gets a bit expensive and wasteful. But I do agree the disposable batteries are much more reliable.
@@bloodlustuponme I could but I don’t use my Xbox enough for it to be worth it, and I tried getting the official Xbox rechargeable batteries and they stopped working in about a month.
@@ExtraSpicyRice get a quality set of eneloop AAs and an independent intelligent charger. Be aware of dumb chargers. Use a buddy's old 18650 charger or something they often can charge NiMH chemistry. (Always double check of course)
The New Xbox series X also Dynamic Latency Ipnut. Which is supposed to reduce latency. It also includes Bluetooth Low Energy. Which makes it easier for compatibility on other devices.
i used to play on a ps4 controller and i recently switched to the new gen xbox controller and oh my god i love it so much more. playing claw on a xbox controller feels so much more natural. on the ps4 controller i could barely reach the back triggers. i have no trouble reaching the triggers anymore. also, the little indents on the bumpers are actually so nice because i don’t have to take my finger of the trigger. i’m never going back to ps4 controller.
I used a PS4 controller before, and I definitely agree. I can see why the PS5 controller was completely redesigned. Also, I agree, the bumper indents are a great addition.
Kinda wish they went more exclusive with their designs and the console in general, it just feels like another Xbox one upgrade with more features like the Xbox one S or X, instead of an actual next gen console
I was kinda shocked that it had the exact same u.i Whenever you buy a new console it's a experience, you see the new ui and get all the new discovers. This bootup was just like " oh cool it's got quick resume" lol
Thanks for the review, I was deciding if I should buy the electric volt controller or not with my gift card that I got but now I’m most likely going to buy it
Well unfortunately the plastic itself is unchanged, however the build quality is a bit better, as it doesn’t squeak if you squeeze it like the previous model. Also, the textures are more pronounced, which does give it a better feel. Though I have to agree as the plastic probably could be better.
So I just bought a series x controller and first thing I noticed that threw me off was the buttons. Which are wayyy different than the Xbox one buttons. I feel like the new buttons are taller, compared to the older buttons that are more flush with the controller.
fun fact the sticks are not the same. the cap on the module lacks basic supports around the female receiver and can beak alot easier than the one x and s.
you should have talked about how the controller plays, are the analog sticks better or same, the deadzones on the sticks, trigger.. how accurate are these sticks on shooter or racing games bla bla cuz these are the things old xbox controller were lacking i wanna know if its better on series x or i have to still unwillingly keep using the ps4 controller on my pc .. etc
I appreciate the recommendation, I believe the analog sticks are the same and the only differences with the trigger is that it’s been sized down. On PC, you should probably upgrade to the newer controller though as windows and Xbox does fit better.
I definitely think the sticks are slower but way more responsive and snoother. I had to send off my other series X one to be replaced and went back to the Xbox one and it seemed really inconsistent. So no idea if thats placebo effect but definitely noted a big drop in accuracy especially longer ranges.
@@inyourgrillbrunson9575 it also could be the fact that they are newer controllers, and they would need to be broken into. Maybe your older controllers feel better because you've used them more and the joysticks are worn in.
i got the one with the screen recorder i expected more nowadays feels like the standards have dropped but prices arent anyway it does its job i guess but nothing spectacular
I love that it still lets you use double AA’s.. I just bought 4 of them for $25, lithium ion 1.5v rechargeables and they’re just as good as a plug and play pack or built in DS4 battery. But once they die they’re easily replaced unlike PS4 and 5 controllers which are a huge hassle Also a lot less e waste then
Agree, i have several packs of rechargeable AA batteries and it is so much convenient than using a proprietary battery like sony does with their controllers...
Have you experienced any hand cramping with the Series X controller after using it for a while? I myself developed some weird wrist pain which sucks because I absolutely love the new controller!!!
I usually play for about 3 hours, but I don’t really get any cramping even though it’s more tapered in at the front of the controller. But I could see how you could get it though as the controller is less comfortable for bigger hands.
Have a friend with the same problem he has small hands and the one controller fits better i prefer the one maybe because I am used to it but the series controller is also pretty decent
My right trigger finger is beginning to hurt. I'm trying to a new controller 1st or 3rd party to switch to. I also hate how the series x controller is too clicky/loud.
I appreciate your suggestion, but unfortunately I do not own a PS5 so my parents would most likely not allow me to purchase a controller that I can't use.
@@ExtraSpicyRice USB-C was initially released around 2014. It simply did not exist yet at the time the Xbox One and the PS4 were released in 2013. Even if it did, they can't just simply change the molds and blueprints when the product is almost complete and ready to ship. So there was no way for the USB-C to make it in time for Xbox One or PS4 launch.
@@KatRollo I’m not saying it should’ve changed with the release, they had 8 years to change the port. Between the Xbox one and the Xbox series, they released a few other Xboxs where I would’ve expected some sort of change in port.
@@ExtraSpicyRice Changing the port means changing the mold for the controller which is already in mass production. Considering most people didn't have USB-C until 2016-2017, changing the mold midway in the console's lifespan wasn't really a smart marketing move. 🙃
@@KatRollo I suppose that is a possibility; however, seeing that the xbox one s was released in 2016 and the Xbox one x being released in the next year, it would be plausible that a port change would be appropriate. For example, the headphone jack was deemed a necessary addition/change to the Xbox one s controller, and by then the issues of micro usb b have been known so I could see a possibility where Microsoft could’ve changed the port as well. But then again, it is what it is, at least they changed it now and the newer controllers are compatible with old-Gen. I appreciate that you watched the video.
Great comparison video thanks! I'm planning to get one of them but i couldn't decide which one i should buy for my pc. Durability is the most important factor for me. Xbox series controllers no doubt one of the best looking controllers in the market but some people say they are not durable comparing to xbox one controllers.
I appreciate your comment! I would argue the opposite, as my Xbox series x controller is holding up very well compared my previous Xbox one controller. Drift stick hasn’t set in as early as my previous controller, and the materials feel more sturdy and less creaky.
xbox one controller is definitely heavier and more well built, but all controllers are subject to drag, especially the one. the series x has more precise features like extra grip on joysticks, mechanical d pad, better feeling/smoother bumpers and triggers, but would not handle a throw across the room, whereas you can slam a one controller on the floor and it’ll work just fine
I was wondering coming off the Xbox one is the durability a bit on the series x, because the joysticks will drift, the buttons when pressing it would activate twice and the triggers would activate more than once when letting it go.
From what I’ve seen so far, my Xbox series x controller hasn’t drifted or had any problems with the buttons while on my Xbox one controller it developed those issues relatively quickly. I believe the durability is better, but still keep care of it.
The video is very good and straight to the point .. but the audio quality is very ok, BUT please try to keep your mouth and lips noise sounds abit away from the mic ... thank you and I appreciate the effort.
Now I have a series x controller and honestly don't really like it. The sandpaper grips hurt my fingers and the thumbsticks require sooo much pressure to press in which is a problem because in almost all games I play jump is binded to Right stick. I was thinking of getting a cyberpunk Xbox ONE controller off eBay to see if it's good
I can see where you’re at. The grips are a bit rough, but I don’t think the right stick has any more pressure than the Xbox one controller. But of course everyone is different and the Xbox one controller is still a solid choice, as they are pretty similar.
is there a difference using them for PC? Is the extra adapter with X controler adds something extra for a PC gamer which you cant have with the Xbox one controller without the adapter?
Does the xbox series controller feel more similar to the ps4 controller? I got the ps5 but its too big for me when I claw, but when I don't its fine. I have pretty large hands too. Ps4s are out of stock so I ordered one of these and I had an old xbox one controller and it feels pretty good. Wanted it to be a lil smaller and they did that on the series controller so hopefully it feels closer to a ps4 but i dont mind if its like the Xbox one.
I’m not particular sure as I have only used the PS4 for a little while, but I believe so as the ps5 controller is bigger than the PS4 controller while the Xbox series controller is smaller than the Xbox one controller if that makes any sense.
In my area, the controllers are both the same price, but if they’re not, I would suggest getting the cheaper one as the differences are relatively insignificant.
I went to go buy a random Xbox controller cuz I really needed a controller for my laptop, at first I thought it was a one controller and now I'm realising it's a series controller 💀
Loved the 2016 version... the new one hurts my hands. The textured part of the controller rubbing too hard on my left pointer finger side... also my hands hurt after long sessions. It's a downgrade for me..
@@ExtraSpicyRice I mainly have it for PC because games are optimized for it and it has stuff like Analogue triggers while my Switch Pro controller does not.
I would think that would be more of an issue if you had larger hands. Well, if you’re used to using the controller triggers with your finger tips, try getting used to using more parts of your finger.
I hate it. I don’t understand how it doesn’t annoy more people. Sold mine a few days after I got the series x and bought 2 backup Xbox One controllers (which also feel a lot more comfortable to me)
I hate that the series x controller has a MUCH weaker vibration feature... and its smaller... they literally made it exactly the same yet somehow way worse...
I ordered xbox one controller bcos xbox series x was 10$ more price (in my country xbox one controller price is approx 65$) and the difference in controller was not that much... So was it worth to purchase xbox one controller or shud i return it back to amazon??
In the US both the xbox one and xbox series x controller are the same price ($60) so I bought the newer one. The differences are pretty few, so if you want to save 10 bucks I wouldn't blame you. Personally, I would prefer the xbox series x controller as it feels a bit more durable and it has USB C. But if that doesn't matter, I would just keep the xbox one controller. Most of my friends still own the previous controller.
That’s a great question. I for one do not completely use the claw play style but I do not think it should affect it that much. The only difference is it’s narrowness.
Hey Im confused, with rechargable batteries, can you use the USB C directly to charge the controller or you need to use the charger that comes with the rechargable battery
@@hiimgrup2476 I’m not sure what you mean, but if you’re asking about the battery that comes with the controller, it’s not rechargeable. You don’t need to buy the official Xbox USB C cable if you already have a USB C cable. You need to get a rechargeable battery in order to be able to use the USB C port, as if you don’t, you can just use the normal AA batteries.
Which one is more durable. Because some people would get stick drift and on the new one it disconnects randomly on pc. I would find these anyone only if it's not fixable. If I can't fix these problems whenever it does happen to me. Then I won't buy it.
I believe the Xbox series X controller is more durable. I've used it for quite some time and it has been perfectly fine, while as my previous Xbox One controller would've stopped working by now. I have not experienced drift in the new controller yet, but I did feel it on the older controller. I have not used the controller on PC so I do not know of the problem. I would suggest buying the newer version if possible.
I’ve heard that they both use the same stick, but in my experience the newer controller has had significantly better durability as mine as gone a many more months; however, it is now starting to develop minor drift stick.
Out of both of these controllers clearly the Xbox 360 controller wins. Now I know there wasn't an Xbox 360 controller shown in the video but that's my conclusion to the debate 😅
It’s going to be the Xbox series X controller of course, but I there are a few things I prefer about the original controller, such as how it is much bigger. The series X controller is definitely better in every way.
@@No-ik6qv Well there are two versions of the Xbox One controller, one that came with the original Xbox one and had no headphone jack, and the newer Xbox one controllers with headphone jacks. Yeah, sorry I meant the newer Xbox one controllers, as I just use "Xbox one controller" to group up both of them.
Well since there isn’t any other controller out there, if you can find the series X controller on sale I’d pick it up. My controller right now is actually holding up quite well, though there is a bit of drift but it comes and goes.
@@riztricks4639 as far as I know, the Xbox series X controller is compatible with Windows 11. However, you may need a dongle though the Bluetooth may work.
The new controller isn’t as grippy as the old controller. I don’t feel as “one with the controller” as I did with the old one. Shame they don’t sell the old controller in stores anymore
I honestly think it’s the opposite, but to be fair my Xbox One controller is reaching 5 years of age. If I were you, I would just buy some grips off of Amazon.
I have never owned a PS4 before, but I have used my cousin's controller, and yes it does feel better. To be frank I kind of wished xbox had made more changes to the controller.
@@ExtraSpicyRice the PS4 buttons have more depths when you press it, when Xbox.... Well... Its kinda like generic gamepad, how come they charge 70usd for something like this 😂😂😂

@@ExtraSpicyRice no i mean if i remove all battery/cell from thr controller and connect my controller using type c cable will it work without battery or cell
Nice. I bought one from GameStop for my Xbox One. I rather get a PS5 instead of a Xbox Series X/S, the Series felt too much like another upgrade to the One, of course Flight Simulator won't work on Xbox One and some other games, but still a huge amount of Series X games have an Xbox One version or might have Last-Gen ports later.
I am also still using the Xbox one with the series x controller. I agree with your take on the series x console, many games are almost exactly the same on the Xbox one so it’s difficult for me to feel the need to buy the newer Xbox rather than the ps5.
@@mrslapmanuts Well I tried using rechargeable batteries in the 360 and it wasn't a high enough voltage. They're pretty picky and only take alkaline batteries. So it would be nice if these actually take standard NiMH rechargeable batteries but people should be careful what they believe until it's shown working.
@John Smith I'm using IKEA LADDA AA's on my Series Controller and they're working perfectly - I honestly prefer using AA's because I can just hotswap them when the current ones are dead (not to mention I won't have to toss the controller if a built-in battery dies)
@@s.baldrick3807 Sounds good. Rechargeable batteries don't work on the 360. Glad I won't have to hassle when I upgrade to the Series x (LOL I'm trying to).
Yeah, all controllers are very good for fighting games. Personally, I don’t play very many fighting games but supposedly the clicky d-pad may be annoying.
It works on windows 7 but with extra steps that you'll need to google. But connecting to PC directly trough Bluetooth is hell, there is a ton of lag and your controller will also get disconnected from time to time. If you truly want to play on windows wireless you'll need to buy the xbox wireless adapter v2, it connects easily, has much better connectivity and responsiveness. transfers music to your xbox audio jack from your computer and has more customization. BUT is stupidly expensive and dumb to have to pay so much extra to use a feature that you were supposed to get with the original xbox controller you got.
I know, but the xbox one s came out after the release of the usb c connector, and Microsoft has shown they have changed things with their controller such as adding a headphone adapter.
Also I think when they made them there some scruff marks in those it’s okay it won’t hurt the controller at all I don’t thinks it’s scruff at all it’s like a light spot on the controller that was built in it’s no scruff because if it was you’d feel of it was a scruff mark
@@cerebrum099 that’s a good question, sorry I didn’t clarify completely. My main issue with the older gen controllers was drift stick, as it made the controller practically unusable but with the newer controller it hasn’t gotten it yet.
@@ExtraSpicyRice I actually heard people even had issues with the latest controller series x. I was planning to get one but I don't want to buy something that only will last few months. My older controller which is Xbox one s also got issue just after one month I used it. It's ridiculous that I can only used that for 1 month only. Of course I did get the warranty they gave me new one but then the same thing happened. Now I don't think I can trust Xbox controller for its durability at all.
