Xbox Vs PS5 2 Years Later - I'm Disappointed 

I think you are absolutely right about producers holding back on game development to broaden their audience since so many of us still cant get our hands on either console.

hi well, for me i own a ps5 & i thinks its great before i had a ps4 pro but in the past i also had a xbox 360 & i enjoyed it all but im really loving the ps5 its really great

I’ve had both consoles since launch as well but the shortages have been over for a bit, even if people are not aware. You’ve been able to go on PS Direct and buy one for months now, and anyone reading this that doesn’t have one, I checked and they are available as I’m typing this. Both the GoW and MW2 PS5 bundles. They’ve been seen at stores more frequently as well on shelves even. As far as games not feeling next gen, I feel that is more due to us not having hit the end of that dev cycle yet. For third party especially, they didn’t get dev kits for PS5 until what like 6 months to a year before launch once the console was finalized. It takes a while to develop a triple A game, and I suspect these will start to trickle in in the next year or two as usual. Everything so far almost certainly started development on PS4 and One as dev kits for the new consoles were not available. And with the architecture finally staying relatively the same this gen over last gen, which used to not be the case in previous gens, these consoles are more like PC than ever and games coming out the tail end of last gen are scalable. Even UE5 just got fully released to the public only 6 months ago, although sure there are devs that had early access that will push games out sooner. It’s not like we flip a switch though and just get next gen titles. Also, while the hope is engine advancements and tech like FSR and DLSS will help mitigate this, consoles are not magic. And I think people need to be prepared for 30 fps more often as well or heavily downgraded 60 fps modes beyond just resolution. We are already seeing that with visual upgraded beyond just resolution in games like Horizonc God of War, and many others. The new marketing term this gen is 60 fps and RT. We’ve had 60 fps games every gen though and the expectation that every game will be 60 while ALSO making a generational leap visually is unrealistic. Console has always prioritized visuals over performance, and we have been hearing these complaints that there are no ‘next gen looking games’ since launch and people even complaining when we ‘only’ get 1080p 60. So I suspect the visuals over performance trend to continue as with casual players, the bulk of the market, visuals are what sells. We’ll see where this gen takes us in the end, but I fully expect some growing pains as we leave cross gen. People assume cross gen is holding games back. And it is, visually and for some feature sets, but, it is the main reason why we’ve had so many 60 fps games, and at a higher resolution at that. There is a reason the UE5 Matrix tech demo ran at sub 30 fps. And devs will have to choose more and more as console hardware is outpaced by game advancement. As is PC is already 2 generations ahead of the 2018-2019 hardware in the consoles. Either way, we seem to be getting out of cross gen and this will come with time as it does every gen.

Can’t take this guy seriously… complaining about dashboard and PS5 not having many games cause he’s too spoiled to appreciate what they’ve been giving PS gamers since launch and then some.😒

Lemme put it this way, If I didn't have a PC, Xbox is a no brainer.

It’s not a bad thing we haven’t went completely next gen yet and there still developing for the PS4. It give those a chance who can’t get one still able to enjoying a few titles. So now the PS5 still feels new. In 2023 I think where gonna take off with next gen or maybe 2024 but this situation just expanders this gem life cycle

I picked up an Xbox series S and it's an incredible console when complemented with a gamepass ultimate sub. I don't know of any other platform where cross-save progression (on select games) is possible between several different devices. eg. My progress is saved when playing a game like Yakuza: like a dragon, when at home on xbox OR pc OR on my phone (cloud stream) when commuting to/from work. Afaik, the only other platform/device that probably beats this feature is a steamdeck and your Steam/Epic/EA/gamepass library on-the-go. Steamdeck is more of an all-in-one device for games across many software platforms but I wish it had more graphical horsepower.

I think being disappointed is understandable. However as someone who recently upgrade from my PS4 to a PS5 I'm extremely satisfied. Just having everything be much quicker is almost enough for me. Add in Demon's Souls, Returnal, and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Plus all the updated versions of PS4 games that run way better on the PS5. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I think keeping the pandemic in mind is also helpful, if I had to put money down I'd imagine 2023 is really the year we will start seeing PS5 exclusives games that aren't cross gen. Especially from Sony 1st party, 3rd party games always seem to take longer to adapt to console generation leaps in my experience. Also game pass is a great deal, and I look forward to getting my first PC soon so I can experience the best of both worlds, my favorite console in the PS5 and Microsofts great deal in gaming with game pass on my PC

Well.. there is Demon's Souls... and if there is a Bloodborne 60fps/4k in the future... I mean after Elden Ring people with a PS5 will be rubbing their hands, having EVERY souls game available in one Console is a Dream... (also I think Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are included in PS+ Extra/ PS Collection)

I immediately disabled the hyper sense Function on ps5. After testing it. And never turned it back on again. And don’t miss it. And I regret buying the ps5. And the shortage from ps5 is just a clown Fiesta from Sony to market this shit. Making it even more expensive and just selling it in drops. They could easily sell so much right now. That everyone can buy it. But they are using the imagined shortage to make the shit console more expensive and just selling in few numbers.

Super-happy with my PS5. I love the games, the features and even the interface but I recognize that the sleep/shutoff command sequence gives people a lot of grief

Dualsense still alive?

I don't have an Xbox (ha, well, I still have the OG Xbox with KOTOR 1/2), but I picked up a PS5 a few months ago and have yet to play a single game on it (I've watched some movies on it). I did it on the assumption that Playstation would be the place to be for exclusive JRPGs (maybe it's my fault for skipping out on PS3 and getting into PS4 three years in; I still remember how strong the PS1 and PS2 libraries were for JRPG exclusives), but that hasn't been the case so far. PS4 had a similar issue with a bunch of its JRPGs being ports of Vita or PS3 games. Now many PS5 games are just PS4 games with slight upgrades or games that you can get on PC (and now with so many JRPGs being released on PC, I'm wondering why I got a PS5). I also don't think of remakes like Last of Us as "new" games either, unless they're at least ground up remakes (like RE2 or FF7), and even then I'm not always interested in playing through the same general story again (still not interested in the new FF7). It feels at the moment like I should've just stuck with PC and Switch (which I have issues with too, but it's the only way to play Nintendo exclusives) for gaming. The PS5 right now seems like little more than a way to play one's PS4 games with better framerates and load times (which I guess is what the PS4 Pro was?). But here's hoping that it gets more exclusives (preferrably in the form of new IPs and full fledged next gen sequels instead of remakes or PS4 crossplatform games) in the future and not everything gets ported to PC. Maybe PS5 is just a slow starter like PS1 was. Thinking upon it, PS1 didn't really kick into high gear until '97 and especially '98 despite releasing in '94. Yet the fact that now Square and Atlus both are releasing most of their games on PC makes me think that the days of needing to buy a console to play an assortment of good JRPGs are over.

I just use game pass ultimate on my old one x. It gets the job done. No need for series X. Not until they make exclusives for it. This gen I’m just gonna get a ps5. At the moment still enjoying my ps4 pro. Waiting till more games are made exclusively for ps5 before I get one. Whilst games are still cross gen, I’ll still use my older systems.

I have a gaming PC, no XBox X/S , but still have Game Pass. I just got a PS5 a couple weeks ago, I skipped the PS4, so there's a lot of exclusive titles, I suppose, since I didn't have a PS4, it's hard to be dissapointed with the lack of PS5 content right now. The classics streaming on PS+ Premium sucks, rough frame rates and high latency, so I may end up downgrading my PS+ since paying extra for streaming just isn't worth it. I do have a Xbox X/S controller, I got it for my gaming PC. I had it since before getting the PS5, and honestly, the Dualsense controller does make my Xbox controller seem old... not just old but ancient. lol It's a very basic controller, not changed much since the Xbox 360 controller. Other than an extra button and surface texture, it's really the same controller. Actually, it feels a little cheaper in the hands than a 360 controller. But the D-Pad is the major improvement. Tactile click makes a world of difference.

I know once I saw the PlayStation shirt what was up 😆 Team Sony The Dualsense and variety of games are really good plus Sony constantly updates the software to make it better regularly.😎

Im kinda pissed That the god of war ps5 is only digital even for disc edition Ps5 No controller or whatever 2 years later and still no colored covers available in stores

I own both and definitely play the SX way more and have found the PS5 controller to be more of a gimmick than anything.

I have both consoles too. I like them both but I would take the Xbox over ps5. The ps5 exclusives are decent but they haven't came out with anything innovative lately. Returnal I think is the only great exclusive that ps5 has came out with. God of war looks the same as the old one. A bunch of copying and pasting with too many cutscenes. I love playstation and I have had every one but their games don't grab my attention like they used to. I thought the dualsense was great initially but now I honestly can't stand it. I have a aim dualsense and I have been using it for mw2 and my hands constantly cramp up and I feel like I'm always adjusting my hands. I think the dualsense features like haptic feedback is excellent for some games but for fps games it's not so great. I have an elite 2 for xbox and it's the most comfortable controller I have ever owned. I wish I would of bought mw2 on xbox but all my friends are on ps5. I'm gonna get the new razer for ps5 and I'm hoping I like that better. If I don't I might get rid of the ps5 and the main reason is cuz the dualsense. Gamepass is also amazing. They are both great consoles I just prefer xbox right now. I also feel gamepass is cheaper. You can get it for cheap if you shop around online and you can even get it for free if you wanna do some work online. Literally 2 ps5 games are the same price as gamestop for a year. Gamestop has hundreds of games and say what you want about halo infinite forge looks amazing and I always had fun playing infinite. I'll be going back once I'm burnt out on mw2.

If I want to play 3rd party games on a tv with friends Id use Xbox series x for the performance For Exclusives ps5 For me personally other than that PC all the way.

I currently have a series x and I love it. I've played on my brother's ps5 as well and I don't know what it is but the xbox is just more fun. Probably because I grew up playing on my brother's 360, and I'm just loyal to xbox

Nothing is exclusive on Xbox, not even halo. It’s all on pc.

The PS5 would crash if it had quick resume😂 no lie that’s why it shuts apps completely down before you start a new one. It can’t handle that multitasking like that😂 Still by far the best next gen console

Had a PS5 since launch, my bro had a SX since it launched. Both of us running 65" OLEDs. The only disappointment so far has been the SX. Yeah there's an extended cross-gen period going on but there's still a few TRUE next gen games on the PS5 and/or a few cross-gen games that take advantage of the new hardware, like Miles/Spider-Man or HFW. Xbox is STILL waiting for next gen to come to Xbox. None of their 1st party games take ANY advantage of the hardware currently outside of res and fps. Im 40 years old and this is the most impressed I've ever been with a console and what im already seeing from it, meanwhile my brother has literally been playing Destiny 2 since the gen started cuz the Xbox 1st games that do exist doesn't keep his interests peeked. Plays Destiny 2 more than he ever even looked at the Halo app thumbnail 🤦🏿. I actually be feeling bad for him, thats not even a joke. Currently the SX is like a One X Pro.

Well if you're disappointed on me what the PS5 that's offered this year for games, I don't know what you've been playing. And I can say that for the whole life cycle of the PS5 at this point. And none of us bother PS5 for subscription services, and we could care less if games came out day one. Look at the quality of Microsoft AAA offerings. They suck and comparison, and I don't want to subscription service bringing the quality of PS5 games down because it's release day one. No thank you!
