How to connect XBOX Controller to PC on Windows 10 with Wireless Adapter. In this video will show you how to fix Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 and install the Xbox ACC driver. Many people have issue to find and install the drivers of XBOX ACC so make sure to follow the steps that i am showing you to install everything correctly and connect you XBOX controller to your PC with the Wireless Adapter. For this example i am using the XBOX Series X|S controller. But this will work with any other controller that the XBOX Wireless Adapter is compatible with like the XBOX ONE.

⚠️⚠️ To update the controller you don't need nessesary the USB-C Cable. If you have the XBOX WIRELESS ADAPTER you can do it as well but after updating the driver's as I show later on the video.

sorry but is it normal that if I want to pair my xbox series controller when i press the pair button sometime it doesn't even make blink the logo? sometime it does but as soon as I unpress it the logo doesn't blink anymore. Once I've paired it (thanks to a bless from God) many times happens that I press the logo in order to connect the controller to the adapter but it doesn't work and I need to disconnect and re connect the adapter again. Anyway I got a tip for disconnection when using it with the adapter. Go to device manager -> network devices -> find the xbox series controller and open properties -> power management -> uncheck the first checkbox

@@seife41 yes somebody else mentioned that as well. I didn't know there are 2 types of USB cables and i am not sure how to check that on the cable it self. But as I understand if the USB C cable is just for charging it won't work. If it's for charging and data transfer like most USB C cables like the one I use here from my phone, then it will do.

I built my pc about a year ago and couldn't figure out why it wasn't connecting when it worked fine on my razer laptop. adding the controller to xbox accessories did the trick! you def deserve a like and sub for the vid. Thanks a lot man!

OK so anyone thats having the issue where it wont pair but will blink like it wants to pair go to settings< network and internet< then airplane mode then enable xbox wireless and it should pair now. im gonna leave this post on a few different articles that aren't locked aswell hope this helps. Kinda fucking dumb I delt with it for almost 3 months and it wasn't working cus of this one setting.

Haha yes it's a small one very easy not to even notice it. Usually the issue people have is the drivers update that took me some time to figure it out.

Yes then maybe your Bluetooth on your PC is the problem. And also i hear many people say that some games don't play good with Bluetooth like Division or COD games, and adapter or wired method solves everything.

Don't normally use controller when gaming so I've just given up after 10 minutes of trying to get the wireless to work. Had it for years and got it working now, the trick? Downloading xbox accessories obviousloy.

thanks man, I had the adapter but it wasn't automatically detecting my controller at the start of my gaming sessions. I would have to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to detect my controller again. I downloaded the optional update and now it reconnects every time without issue!

Thank u I was so fucking mad my adapter didn’t work I wanted to play Og fortnite on controller and I couldn’t. Then I looked up this video and it helped me. Never in a million years would I have thought a Xbox adapter needs to update I hate Microsoft. Thank u this was extremely helpful

Hi, I realised this is an old video, but after getting an Xbox controller recently, I learnt that you can't play with the custom button layouts you create in the Accessories app if it's not connected to your pc with a wire, I was wondering if you knew whether a wireless dongle connection also lets you use custom button layouts, only wirelessly? Did you try to press the sync button on the Wireless adapter every time you try to connect to your controller? Also do you use your controller with Bluetooth method or with other device? Maybe it's connected to another device and you don't know.... The sync button on the controller can change devices without need to disconnect it from all the devices. Press the Sync button once to connect to Bluetooth, press it 2 times fast to connect to XBOX or Wireless Adapter i think. And if the previous don't work you can hold it for 5-6 seconds and it will vibrate and close. That means it unsync from the device it was and you can start connecting it to new devices from start. I hope this helps if not let me know to give your more ideas 🤷‍♂️😃

Most times it you doesn't need to do it and it connects and work with no issue.

If noting of this works try changing the batteries of the controller to new ones. That worked for me, the most obvious and the harder solution to see.

Omg yes it's definitely hard to figure it out as you think those are new batteries but they are useless if they sit for long period without use. And i had couple more persons saying that so thanks for sharing your experience because it can help more people. 👍🙂

For a short period of time, XBOX ACC was there on the list in device manager. Then I don't remember why but I plugged it out. Plugged it in again. Nothing happens. Now even XBOX ACC is not in the list. Edit: Just checked device manager again. Xbox ACC was there but not under Other Devices. It was listed under the Network Adapters section.

Would you happen to know more about the microphone audio side of this? I use this to connect my Turtlebeach Stealth 700 headphones to my pc and the sound will randomly stop working. Even if I turn headset off, unplug the adapter or try to disconnect the reconnect it will say "Headset paired" and will technically he connected but the audio will come from monitor speakers and not the headset. No matter what I try the only thing that fixes it is rebooting my whole pc then audio magically works but it usually has problems while I'm playing my game and I can't reboot while playing bc I play Sea of Thieves and I'll lose all progress and won't make it back to the same server if I do. SO frustrating man.

Thanks for you comment and i am sorry to hear that you have issues with your Stealth 700 headset. Unfortunately i haven't try from Turtlebeach any gadget yet and i don't know why this happening. Of course you can try to go to your sound setting and change manually the output device to your Stealth 700 headset if you hear the sound from the monitor.. maybe windows don't do it automatically sometimes.. Also check if you have any apps open that could effect your headset, like the Discord App...for example for me it would effect the whole game when i was playing Battlefield 3 and i couldn't use the mouse on the game. So the solution for that was to open discord from a browser and not the app itself. 🤷‍♂️😄 Anyway, i hope you find a solution for your issue. Cheers! 🙂

Did you press the sync button on the controller and the adapter? Sometimes they connect immediately. Also try to connect your controllers with cable to the pc and open the xbox application to update it.

Yes it is always need batteries. Only if you connect it with a USB C cable to a power source then you can use it without.

I can only connect my controller to the Xbox Wireless Adapter if I disconnect the adapter and connect it again, whenever I turn off the Xbox controller. Also I can't make the adapter flash pushing it's bottom. Maybe it just broke.

Hello and thank you for your comment. 🙂👍 It's a bit hard to understand what you try to ask me. I suppose you have problem when you turn on your controller? Try to press the sync button on controller 2 times. (1 time hold 1 second is to connect with a Bluetooth signal and 2 times quick presses to xbox and xbox wireless adapter.)

@@LiakourasMomentz yeah, it's a bit hard for me to explain, but it's when I turn the controller on, it usually doesn't sync. If I press the button on the adapter the adapter was supposed to start pulsing/flashing a light, but it doesn't anymore. I never tried those two quick presses, I will next time it loses sync.

@@RicardoDirani Okay! yes I understood good then. Try pressing 2 times and see if it works. And check if you disconnect and reconnect the adapter into a USB port maybe that works. I know it's not great solution but sometimes devices like this go to "sleep" and we need to do that.

for me, the adapter is better. i have proprietary bluetooth/wifi antennas on my pc. they work fine for most things, and even the controller works with bluetooth. the problem i was having was input lag... i dont know why but the input lag and also weird delayed vibration of the controller (like i would shoot in a game.... and the controller vibrates few seconds later). i plugged the controller with a usb-c cable and it worked perfectly... so i was confused. now i bought the adapter and it works pretty much exactly like a direct usb-c connection. i cannot tell any increased input lag from just having it directly plugged into the computer with usb-c.... so thats great! it feels good to play my games now.

My controller stopped wanting to sync at all via the wireless adapter after I'd moved it once or twice between that and another bluetooth device. Installing the app on my PC, connecting via USB-C and then applying the firmware update to the controller seemed to solve it (maybe there's a bug with the old firmware?). Thanks for the video!

This depends on the game my friend. At least with XBOX wireless adapter you are sure that up to 8 controllers will connect to your PC. Bluetooth connection can't guarantee to connect 2 controllers.

@@LiakourasMomentz yes, it was hot for sure, that may have shorted the circuit. Worked perfectly up until then. ordered a new one today and will use the xtension dongle religiously now or plug into a usb splitter hub.

That's a good question. Did you manage to find it out? Because as i know you can't do that. Only switch between Bluetooth connection to xbox wireless connection.

It can connect via Bluetooth or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter. Just for updates you will need USB C cable or the Xbox wireless adapter. You can't update it via Bluetooth. Most probably the controller will play normally and without updates, but it's good to make them just in case 🙂

my setup was not like that. my wireless adapter does not even show up where yours does in device manager. and I have never had to install an update from windows update on any controller setup. I simply followed the directions included with the wireless adapter. install batteries into controller press power button on controller and it will start flashing insert wireless adapter into USB port on pc press the pair button on controller for 3 seconds and release press the pair button on the wireless adapter and then its done

I manage to connect my controls but none of them work, that is to say, they connect perfectly, but when playing or moving around in windows they just don't do anything. But the xbox accessories program does recognize the joystick and all its buttons :(

You should check the game that you playing if it has that controller support. It should work normally if the game support controller set up. Try to find maybe you need to change something in the settings.

I'm having an issue when my headset is connected through the Wireless Adapter. Everything is listed properly in Devices, and the headset shows up in the accessories app. But even at just 3 feet away from me, the headset will have frequent static and disconnects. I'm not sure what else to do, I've tried resetting the headset, using a USB extension, etc. Any fixes?

@@LiakourasMomentz It's the Beoplay Portal. It's built to for use on Xbox and the Adapter, yes. I found a rather long thread on Microsoft's support which has a few others with the headset experiencing issues on PC, but nobody seems to know a fix.

@@LiakourasMomentz My thought exactly; the connection on a $500 should be at least as good as $120 headsets.The static only occurs while audio is playing. The quality of music (and other media) sounds great, but there is occasional static and cut outs. I can go to the other end of the room before it begins cutting out and then disconnects. But as mentioned, sitting right next to it, it'll sometimes just do the same. I saw a suggestion to turn off USB power management, though that doesn't seem to have an effect either. I've never had such an intense love/hate with a device before :/

The only thing i forgot to mention on this video is to press the pair button on both devices, on the controller and on the Xbox wireless adapter. Maybe is this..? If you did everything i said you should be fine....Did you connect the controller via cable to make the updates? This is what most people don't do and of course after the one i showed with the install of the drivers is the most important that made mine to work. I hope you figure it our man, and let me know what was the issue.

Hey I think I've found a solution to this. Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Xbox Wireless Adapter > Properties > uncheck the 'Allow the computer to turn off the device" thing. It worked for me.

Any ideas for this issue. My controller pairs to the device but it struggles to reconnect if I turn off my PC. I have to constantly either pair it again or remove the adapter and plug it back in to get it to connect again. It is a huge annoyance to do on a daily basis.

My controller would only flash when I held down the button. When I released, the blinking would stop. Switching the batteries fixed it for me!

You don't need to use the adapter on the Xbox. I am not sure if it's even possible but the xbox have incide the same wireless system. If you mean for other consoles it won't work.

driver wont detect for me, but I will try to find it manually. *****Actually it detects xbox net now that I have updated the controller. Weird! Because I used another controller I had already updated on my xbox and it did not work.

Good! About the other controller you will need to sync it with the Xbox Wireless Adapter. Maybe it's searching for the XBOX that's why. To unpair it form the XBOX just hold the sync button about 15 seconds until your controller vibrate. And then you sync it normally to the XBOX wireless adapter by pressing the sync button the controller and Xbox wireless adapter. Unfortunately you will need to do that procedure every time you switch between xbox and wireless adapter.

You saying for the controller? If it's working fine you don't need it. To make the updates you can connect it via USB c cable or wireless adapter works also.

No you don't need the usb c it can make updates as soon you connect with the Xbox wireless adapter. Did you update the drivers though how i showed? This is the most important and usually the reason why it can't read the adapter. And also after press the sync button on the adapter as well right. I think i forgot to mention that.

I think it will be fine. Other usb sticks i use also becoming very hot but it's fine. If you use laptop make sure to use a base with fan or even just lifting the back a bit will help with the temperature. I might check mine adapter later this week to see if it get hot as well.

you probably got or bought the refurbished xbox controller, the only fix for that issue is to refund and get replacement, or you have to use lithium ion battery AA or battery pack that use lithium battery and do not use regular alkaline battery and rechargeable NiMh battery.

Wow first time i hear that. The wireless adapter has less delay than Bluetooth..we talking about 3 mileseconds here. Me personally I can't feel that. But if you getting heat issues..I don't know..maybe try to use another USB port. Do you have heat issues with your PC or Laptop? What do you use?
