So I filmed the bulk of this episode almost two months ago when a set of refurbed 14x8 hotwires with china tyres cropped up here for sale in Brisbane. The wheels were gorgeous BUT the offsets were a bit on the soft side and the tyres were not muscle car cred worthy.
At the time I dismissed it as an option then attempted to buy a set of tyres similar to the ones on my sedan only to find out there were none of those in the country or any white writing tyre unless I wanted TA Radials which were readily available for premium muscle car prices.
The I was offered a discount on the hotwires and I was tempted all over again!
But not tempted enough!

Yeah for my Hardtop I wanted a set of cheap 14" rims to get the blue slip and found there's nothing around and if you do find anything, it's cheap Chinese rubbish. Honestly look out for 15" rims as there's so much more variety. For the back 8" and front 7" should be fine as 8" do cause problems for wider tyres as they scrap when turning. I have 15x8 on the front and 15x10 on the back. 245 up front and 275 at the back with just a fraction scaling in the back and the scraping when turning up front. Guards are rolled up front but not on the back. Love watching your channel. My XB Hardtop is almost ready for rego.

yeah a 15 inch rim would give me better tyre options, an XB coupe is on my wish list.

Your not a sook man, Hold out for the gear you prefer, do not settle for just anything. You still have a long way to go on that wagon, a lot of other things to do and time is on your side, other opertunities will turn up. Wheels and tyres can wait.

Yeah and I'd buy the custom wheels to suit. I'd get them in a 15 inch though, better tyre availability 👉

Defiantly go 15 inch wheels. Globes would look good.

Go the 12 slots on the xc they look the best. 14x7 245/50/14 on the front and 14x8 265/50/14 on the rear. Was a good combo back in the day. I'm not even sure if you can still get them. They did really suit the car.

Yep but get the 15" versions as they look the same much heaps more variety of rubber.
