Excellent demonstration of active flying that is most educational for those of us that have yet to fly such turbulent conditions! Thank You, Sir!

Superb piloting! I was at Roldanillo during Jan - Feb too and had switched back to a 'B' glider, a Swift Six from a 'C' Bonanza. On the whole no real problems as I was flying within my skill level and comfort zone. I witnessed reserve throws and heard of several too. The basic message is fly what you can handle and not what you think you need. It's not worth the 'fear factor'. You can obviously handle the Peak very well. :)

Absolutely! I cannot agree more with your statement about flying the gear that allows you to focus on decision making, not on piloting.

Does your Swift handle turbulence better than your bonanza? obviously the right answer for you but I generally feel like I'm more thrown around in my swift than my friends in their Cs.

I am not widely experienced in flying other gliders and I suppose the Swift Six does move around a fair bit. But, generally speaking all I get is small tip collapses most of the time with active piloting. I just feel happier under the Swift compared to the Bonanza 2 which could collapse (with me) most unexpectedly at any moment. Others may have a different opinion. From what I see now most of the 2 liner Cs are very stable.

Excelent active piloting. Thanks for a great video. Is there some special advice or technique or anything what you can higher up and share with us, which we can use in these kind of conditions? For example, I think I'm using technique "breaking colaps by colaps". I realised you worked pretty a lot with a C-risers or so instead of breaks ? Does it work that well as breaks during active piloting in turbolent air?

Thanks for watching, but please don't learn paragliding from RU-vid videos. If you have specific questions about piloting the wing, it's best to ask your instructor or an experienced pilot you know. You can also join my Telegram group if you wish, where pilots of different levels share their experience and ask questions.

@@dymanoid Heh, no worries, I was just asking. Nobody tells you the exact manual how to fly perfectly. When its happening up there, nobody's there, just you and situations you were watching or talking about before are just there and real and have to deal with it. So any good catch in the brain or subconscious before is helpfull.
@dymanoid
@dymanoid Месяц назад
It's a good idea to do one or multiple SIV courses. Then you won't be surprised by the reactions of the wing because you have already actively practiced different situations and exactly know how your wing behaves, what you can do and how, and most importantly, what NOT to do ☺ Just watching others doing something or talking about it is simply not enough. In a stressful situation, we tend to forget about conscious things and instead act on instinct or trained behavior.

wow, high workload! how long can you fly in conditions like this without getting exhausted?
@dymanoid
@dymanoid 6 месяцев назад
These moments were mostly taken from 7-8 hour flights, so it's possible to get used to the turbulence and keep going. The workload is quite high, you're absolutely right, but there are always some (more or less) calm glides in between, so you can recharge your mental battery. Indeed, when you land after such a flight, you feel quite exhausted, but at the same time very happy!

I thought I had a high tolerance for flying but thats a different level, think I would prefer to be in the local cafe having a brew.

Wow! You have got imressive piloting skills in this conditiins! To me, it is quite hard to see what you reacting to. Is it shoot or wing pressure? Would love to learn from you
@dymanoid
@dymanoid 6 месяцев назад
Actually, both. Because of the image stabilization, it's not always clear, but in some clips you can still see the wing pitching or surging forward - that's where it needs to be stopped. In other cases, the airflow causes the wing to lose pressure on one or both sides, so a brake or rear riser pull is needed to keep the wing inflated.
@peterpadazopoulos2954
@peterpadazopoulos2954 5 месяцев назад
Well done did you prefer to use brakes or rear steering in turbulent air ?
@dymanoid
@dymanoid 5 месяцев назад
I usually fly on B's in light to moderate turbulence. When the air gets ugly, I switch to the brakes.
@verkkoveijari
@verkkoveijari 6 месяцев назад
Nice one. Additional request: Can you make a video without image stabilization to get a better feeling of what it's like?
@dymanoid
@dymanoid 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! It feels very shaky and twitchy! I first tried to turn off the stabilization completely, but then the footage gets too shaky and it's hard to understand what's going on. My camera is attached to the carabiner, and the carabiner moves a lot in rough air because my wing transfers all the air movement directly to the harness without any damping.

@dymanoid
@dymanoid 2 месяца назад
