These are some good points, but I heard another theory that actually makes more sense and it less complex The "breasts" are just venom sacks, which swell up from extended periods of not being used, thus why they don't have nipples. And while I do agree the sacks placement are probably due to lingering human dna, their purpose is very different
lockstin no stop wait you made me think about the animal kingdom and logic that there are species of animals with one male surrounded by multiple females it is a harem! don't tell the furry community they don't know about this my god there could be so many furry harems because thousands of animals live like this. duuuuuuude I can't believe I didn't once notice this before polygyny is just the animal kingdoms version of a natural harem
Meanwhile the science fan not understanding how reptile have mammal features : *hinale* HOOOOWWWWW ! Truly a low blow from an enemy which became master in mental warfare
Lockstin: "Here's a video about XCOM!" The Internet: "Not about Pokémon! We won't watch!" Lockstin: "We talk about boobs..." The Internet: "...go on..."
I actually want more non-pokemon content. I know I'm in the minority of his viewers who say that, but I like variety. Him having so much pokemon content actually turned me away from the channel for a bit. I mostly watchhis non-pokemon content and occasionally some pokemon content.
I think too the reverting to their original forms went like this “Okay, we don’t need infiltrators anymore... or at least we’ve found another species that will do it better, correct?” “Yes my lords” “Okay, then revert the vipers, we need more foot soldiers if we want to completely control the humans, they are a stubborn bunch...” “Yes my lords, immediately my lords” -some time passes- “Ummm... my lords?” “What is it?” “So... you know we integrated human DNA deeply into the vipers’s anatomy, so they resemble much more like humans, correct? “Of course.” “Then you should know too that integrating their DNA all over the place leads to difficult removal of it, yes?” “Where are you going with this?” “Well... we couldn’t remove all of it and...” -unconscious / dead snek on hospital bed- “...” “I’m deeply sorry my lords but-“ “It’s fine, keep it that way, we will find anothe-“ “-that’s not all” “... what’s the matter now?” “The humans are weird and... they love the “new” design...” “... *what* “
I will now count to 3 and then I am still the unprettiest RU-vidr of all time. 1...2...3. Btw I have two very hot girlfriends. Thank you for your attention, dear matty
The v Game Theory: _jokingly acts ashamed of that one time they talked about video game characters' breasts._ The Chad Lockstin & Gnoggin: _Makes a recurring series on the channel educating about breasts via video game characters_
I never even knew this was a controversy and I have over 1000 hours in Xcom 2. I just saw them and said "yeah that fits in with what I know the elders can do." On the upside, as soon as Torque was on our side she instantly became best girl.
This is true. Torque made me hate that we don't have Viper units in XCOM2. But then again I think we should have had the ability to recruit all aliens so.... there you go.
it's actually confirmed in XCOM Chimera Squad during one of the missions against Sacred Coil. In one mission you are taken to an old ADVENT Gene Clinic in which Torque (if you bring her on said mission) references about how humans weren't the only ones modified. It was hinted Vipers didn't like the idea of being forcefully augmented into Thin Men
"So now the question is, how do they use them?" Um, a large part of infiltration and espionage is seduction, and I think that gives a good enough idea of how they would be used.
What I'm hearing is some guy at the production team drew some tiddies on a snake. And everyone took it seriously, and he couldn't stop the Sniddies from escaping. As for WHAT they do...extra venom sac, better means of smothering, and enticing prey to come closer? Since it seems like Humans are their prey, it would make sense to take on forms to make them less guarded. Come on, you see an alien species running at you full tilt with big willy/badonkas, you'd pause just to say "wtafs!?"
@@insertsomethingrelatable2494 Dunno why he even asked that, because I'm pretty sure it's totally canon that they're venom glands, not breasts. And I believe the Viper King DOES have them under his armour as well, even though he exhales frozen gas. This doesn't change the fact that vipers have found a niche working as club hostesses and strippers by the time of Chimera Squad...
Actually Cobras are apart of the same family as Vipers. So it actually makes sense why their called Vipers, I was bothered by this as well and looked it up.
@@akirandrake414 What do you mean? Cobras are of the elapid family (Elapidae). Vipers are, well, viper family (Viperidae). That said, the XCOM vipers do seem to have viper-like fangs as opposed to the short, fixed fangs of cobras.
@@akirandrake414 I did look it up (wikipedia, every snake book I own, basically any reference to elapids or vipers), and everything I've found says they are different families. Hence why I asked just what you are talking about. I mean what is your source or sources for this?
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the thumbnail of this video. The yellow viper has this seductive expression complete with her tongue flickering (like she's either licking or smelling her[Snakes actually use their tongues to smell] indicating that she wants to seduce the other viper) while the white viper that's getting wrapped up is just like "What are you doing to me ya weirdo?".
My head canon the entire time i was playing xcom 2 was that the elders were trying to use psychological warfare by making the vipers look like human females.
My theory for the breasts was that Vipers used them as muscles to eject their tongue for their tongue pull. Viper King doesn't tongue pull you nor bind you, his tongue pull just freezes you, only the lady vipers do that. Also Vipers are actually born normally. Even in chimera squad its said they're born from eggs, not tubes, so yeah.
The viper king is the only known male one. They probably either create the eggs, or artificially fertilize them and have modified the vipers to the point they can only hatch females.
@@Fourger14 In the recordings, Vahlen says that due to *her* chromosonal work, the super-viper embryo was changed from female to male. If XCom recovered her lab mostly intact, then her lab notes on how she did that may well be in XCom hands. Are you going to release that information, Commander?
Imagine their eggs are much cheaper than tubes with little in terms of drawbacks: In biology the soft shell reptile eggs are very easy to work with and they can be separated from the egg-laying, unlike how mammals and mammal-like aliens procreate in which case you'd need to create an artificial environment (tubes) in order to work more easily with them as well as increasing the production rates. I don't know where I read this, but iirc the "thinmen" and later "vipers" were also originated from animals on Earth instead of being basically a trophy carried on from a different dimension, so being in native environment they also have this advantage going on.
Other thing is that the chest bumbs are basically venom sacks, not "breast" in traditional sense. It's noted that Thin Men have their poison sacks under pressure (hence why they explode in cloud of poison), so expanded chest to allow for greater control is propably why vipers don't explode. Or devs were just horny.
As a person who has never played the series, this actually makes sense and is pretty interesting. I might have to check it out now. I wonder if they ever merged human dna with something like a rhino or a bird.
Unfortunately, the developers have stated they're actually venom glands connected to the lungs via ducts; their partially externalized location is to ensure they rupture away from the internal organs if the torso is damaged. Torque has underdeveloped venom glands due to being related to the Viper King' New Arctic bloodline, who apparently had this result in most of the offspring he produced (I'm not sure why this is a result; it could be that this is the real reason they use cloning to get more Vipers, as letting them breed normally results in the Ethereal's 'perfected' template getting screwed up by normal genetic transfer)
Where have the devs ever said this? I fundamentally disagree with this idea purely from the standpoint of what is stated in the games themselves. The autopsy reports make no mention of this insanity and specifically point out that *the* venom sacs are similar to those of terrestrial snakes, implying there is no second set that works differently. I have never been able to find the developers saying otherwise and the first-hand example of what's actually in-game takes precedent anyway. Do you have a source for this claim?
My understanding of giving any anthropomorphized creatures breast is to make it seem more human, getting the point across that they are in fact not the normal breed of their inspiration, but rather a humanoid form.
literally everyone: same erotic stimuluses constantly decreases in effect overtime. those fans: lets adapt it a little, a snake. me: well this escalated quickly.
There's honestly a far, far simpler explanation for any alien race having anything similar to another; convergent evolution. I find it funny that people will question 'why does it have breasts and make milk to feed young', but not like 'why does it have eyes', or 'why does it have a skeletal structure like an earth creature'. Evolutionarily speaking, both are just as unlikely as mammalian traits to develop. But all three have a markable advantage to survival; so just make your aliens tatas functional mammary glands for feeding young and that's about all the justification you realistically need.
I don't appreciate the strawman of the "no politics in games" crowd. It's about wanting less blatant propaganda in video games, we have no problem with games that use politics as flavor or world-building when it's done WELL. Metal Gear discusses nuclear weapons, genetic engineering, war in general, and doesn't get bogged down in pointing at the camera and telling the audience what to think, the core story can be followed and empathized with regardless of the player's political perspective.
The thing about video games is that they’ll ALWAYS emulate the viewpoints of their creators. We all experience Earth through our subjective mindsets, after all. So art being subjective is entirely unavoidable.
@@Glory2Snowstar Not entirely unavoidable, but once you start drawing out a storyline it tends to be. Things can also be grounded in objectivity, or be abstract and untied to the earth in a way that makes it hard to be tied to your viewpoint on anything.
I made my version of Vipers only quad arms and related to Reptilian. The funny stuff is that they find Humans very attractive. I love studying possiblity and your videos are great. Kinda hard watching without being judged.
I thought that it was implied from one of the final cinematics that all the aliens got "improved" by adding human DNA into them. I always thought that was the reason they had them, like how the sectoids go from tiny gray man to pink xenomorph.
Torque does say that she was hatched, and as we see in Vahlen's lab, recently hatched vipers are still combat capable and (possibly) capable of making advanced bows under the direction of the Viper King.
I’m new to xcom and I sort of started with chimera squad hoping for a team building mass effecty experience. Chimera squad is cool but I wish you they had more of the “ get to know your teammates “ design to it. Like I thought torque was cool and her background sounded so interesting! An alien that was born and raised on earth and considers herself an earthling and humans to be like he kin. It made me want to know more about her character and what she was like! Sadly they only really scratch the surface of what they could have done with her with dialogue in between cutscenes
I always found that the 'easiest' explanation for non-mammalian mammaries are that they're fat storage, but not milk producing (think of the humps on a camel). For a bipedal, or at least predominantly upright species, the hips and breasts are good storage spots as they counterbalance each other and won't upset their torso's center of gravity. Larger breasts and hips indicate that an individual doesn't need to be as active (or is skilled enough to remain active while possessing such predominant assets).
"How do they use them?" He asks! Well... I think the answer there is simple. They don't use them at all in any way, shape, or form. Like you speculated, breasts could just be leftover garbage DNA from turning them back into Vipers. They're there in shape, but not in function.
Splatoon 2 theory: I think Marina is turquoise October, the person who made all the music in hero mode because she loves music, her main ink color is turquoise, and sometimes when pearl and her are doing the news pearl will ask Marina what her favorite month is Marina will ask her if she is just making an octopus joke because octo is in October. If that actually is her favorite month it would make sense that the octarans would know her as the artist turquoise October. They also might not know she’s on the side of inkopilis which would explain why she has access to octaran caves and all the materials she needs to make the stages for splatfest, she’s a popular artist and they don’t know she’s not on their side anymore.
I mean we don’t always need poke theories unless if its something important plus theres the whole second channel about sience when he wants to post something there
Yeah, honestly I stick around for specifically the non-Pokemon content. Just not into it but Lockstin makes good videos so I stay subbed for the rare occasion lol.
I wonder if these things would've existed if not for the original Snakemen and their hermaphroditic anatomy, with mysterious motivations (one of the extremely few aliens not under direct control of the Ethereals). Probably, to be honest. It seems someone in the art department basically reinvented them for more than just a tribute.
One of the reasons i love this channel is that they CREDIT THE DAMN ARTISTS! Thank you! it's not that hard to do people. just reverse image search it. but if you can't find them... don't use it. simple as that. using art without the artist credit is just blatant theft. i mean, it's also theft if you don't ask permission first, but baby steps i guess. and don't be ashamed of using art that is risque in nature. nsfw artists are people too. thank for coming to my TED talk
@@Fourger14 ah yes, so it was in my favor flanking an enemy, having a 90% shot and miss; and having the same enemy move into a different position and hit me
Nelson Javier Rivera Bonilla While you can and will miss really good shots, I’ve always found I manage to hit the really bad ones more often. Like I’ve hit more 50 and 60s then I’ve lost 80 and 90s
Me: Ah, I've never played XCOM before. Guess I'll scroll past this video Me, after seeing "Snitties" in the title: Well, it'd be rude not to give it a shot
While granted here it was only a joke, said joke does demonstrate a seemingly common misunderstanding of a particular position in an ongoing conflict so to clarify: when people say "keep politics out of [insert entertainment media]" it's usually sorthand for "don't (artificially) inject (real world contemporary) politics in to [insert IP] especially if you're going to do so in a heavy hand manner with little regard for [insert IP]'s integrity/legacy"
I honestly hope he makes more xcom videos, the pure pokemon stuff has been getting a tad stale, and expanding what he works on would be cool, like he used too... also tourq is best snek
i was expected a rant video and coming in with the idea that humans just breed with snakes since we all know what SOME HUMANS ARE LIKE but this actualy made me interested to see what kind of game xcom was
3:06 My opinion on politics in games is that politics can be in games, they just don’t need to be in every single game, and if putting politics into a game would ruin the video game part of the game...then don’t put them in,but if they don’t then it’s fine.
That Deviant Art joke gets old. I have been there for 7 years and I didn't know about those "subjects" until I heard these remarks and actively looked for them {biggest regret of my life!}
7:17 MAN! I never put that together that The Advent Speaker was a thinman until you showed the comparison. I always thought he was just a brain washed human.
Well this just solidified my thoughts on why the vipers have breasts. But I still want to now whether there just used as venom sacks, or something else entirely. The concept art shows them without nipples, although that could just be for safety reasons, but I’m still curious.
08:03 upon you saying this, I IMMEDIATELY went and started linking this to every thirsty Discord I could find. Let''s see if we can Monkey's Paw your subscribers, Gnoggin.
For the Viper King, with his broader chest, he just might have enough internal space for the venom glands to be on the inside. Just a thought. Take for it what you will.
When people say "keep politics out of video games" they mean keep real world politics out of video games. Bioshock was amazing because it used the politics of it's own world artfully instead of ramming the politics of the year it came out into it for no good reason. Great video Lockstin.
"How do they use them" Snek boss to its cadets "If a human is strong willed they may be harder to constrict, this leaves us vulnerable if it lasts to long. So we have developed a new strategy using our chest. Smother them, block all their air intake as you crush them!!!"
"I don't want the deviant art audience to find this video." Oh, they're already here, Lockstin. They were always here. You run a Pokemon channel you knew what you were doing.
