By the way, Wave Theory your work on everything audio is unrivaled!!! You definitely deserve way more subscribers than you have. I have followed you for a while now and your effort is simply world class. Thank you for your work 🙏🏾👌🏾👍🏾
I have this and I absolutely love it!! I have the ROHM and ÈS module and pair it with my Burson Audio soloist 3x GT (2021), for my main desktop. The extender is for lighting connection. What I love about this is you can experiment with this device and other devices if you want to. It’s so damn versatile.
Some digging during the pre-public video launch has told us that the 3.5mm & 4.4 mm line-outs are fixed voltage, and that the XD05 Pro cannot be used a pre-amp.
GM ☕️❄️ Xduoo is an interesting manufacturer..they make stuff that falls into either meh 🫤or a freak’n magical unicorn 🦄. I’m still rocking their 604 mini hybrid tube amp 😆 Great and informative review, thank you.
I love the Xduoo XD05-Pro. I feel it is very hard to compare it with desktop set ups though. I personally find it can easily compete with some desktop amps and dacs. Especially with Xduoo releasing more dacs, and higher end dacs at that such as a R2R dac they'll eventually release. You can also use Burson or Sparko op amps that really improve the sound of the XD-05 Pro. I think value for money wise. It really is a swiss army knife. As once you upgrade it to the max to your personal liking. You basically have the freedom of desktop or portable use. A really great dac/amp to have in a collection 😊
Worth noting - Roon Arc and HiBy Music Apps, have a PEQ (Parametric Equalizer) for example... So you can tune the frequency response to whatever you like - Neutral, et cetera... Thanks
Thanks for this great review. A ton of stuff to show indeed. I still trust my XD05 Basic (AKM version) which is... a smaller, more portable brick lol. XD05 + Aune X7S on the desktop, decent enough dac+amp for T50RP's on the go.
54:28 can you please provide another alternative? I'm a newbie, so I don't understand what cable to use here. Is there a 12 volt 2 amp usb cable that's intended for the xd05 pro? I tried checking the link you provided for the usb to dc adapter, and one of the reviews say it's only rated for 5 volt.
Hi ! Great Video, very helpfull review. I have a question : I own a chord hugo 2 and i plan to buy a dan clark e3. Would this xduoo be an upgrade ? If not as transportable device, is there an alternative ? Thanks
Thanks for a thorough review. Does this ship with a charger? Do you have a recommendation for a good external power supply? Have. An ifi for my matrix ddc. Might go with another.
I wonder how long this unit will be supported with new dac modules. Maybe next year you need another one to be able to upgrade. Has anything been said?
Can't you just use a phone charger to use EXT power mode? Maybe a Mac Book Charger? The bigger chargers have lots of power but they should not over power the input... should they?
I got this few days ago and for some reason its not detecting the streem quality of apple music which I have set on my pc to 192 KHz output ? the XD05 is only reading 48KHz on the front display? Can someone explain why please? im in the dark here
Because Apple Music uses AAC format and doesn’t do higher than 24bit 48Khz bitrate. If you want 192Khz quality, you’re gonna have to switch to a different streaming service i.e. Tidal.
Arc is designed to override Android's (Maybe iOS?) system audio mixer so that it can output bit perfect streams via USB. The Roon app is just a remote control to let you control Roon as it outputs to an external audio device, AFAIK.
