This is what i call an awesome show with a strong female lead. And it's much better than modern ones. Why? Because there's no constant vocal reminder of "Female Power" in this show, they just show you a powerful female doing powerful things. So viewer sees for themselves that Xena is badass, not told.
I was playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey lately and thinking the same thing. Today image of powerful woman seem to be rather simplistic. It's copying of men, instead of creating a female character that has its own personality anchored in its feminity. These days they portray strong womem, as men in female bodies. What a shame
@@novislavdajic983 Yes. This is not feminism, this is the opposite. What they show today looks like they're saying "If women want to be equal to men, then they must become men". I consider this idea to be anti-feminist.
"In a time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle. The power... The passion... The danger... Her courage will change the world."
Good times, I would turn back right now If I could. Time's were better, people were cooler, being a kid, no worries, ... uurgh. And Xena was pretty hot.
Since I was a kid, I loved Xena... was religiously watching every time they ran on TV. Good old times... And then you look at most modern "strong" leading female characters and you just have to wonder how it is possible that we've regressed so SO far.
The 80s 90s tv shows were awsome - Spellbinders - Macguyver - Fresh prince of bell air - full house - Growing Pains - Family matters - Sliders - friends - Will & Grace - are you affraid of the dark - Goosebumps - Lois & Clark - The sentinel - Knight Rider - Airwolf - Robocop - Family Ties - Tales from the crypt - The Hulk - A-team - Airwolf
I remember being pubescent in the 90s and life was okay, but pretty dull! Then this came on the telly and it was like "wow"! It had a big impact on my teenage years, as well as Hercules although to a lesser extent. It was pure escapism but had some good life lessons in it as well
Before feminism and woke-pandemic this was just pure 100% acting with 0%politics. I saw this as a 12 years old boy, it was entertaining and pure action.
And the best comment goes to … 👆 🎉 but yes I agree with you ! Am so lucky that Xena warrior princess was released back then, imagine the catastrophe if it happened right now or worse a remake they would had kill the character and the show before even released!
The funny thing about this intro is that who you see at 0:19, the moment the camera is slowly gonig up in split shots, is actually Gabrielle. It's a fragment from the first season episode 'The Greater Good', where Gabrielle is seen putting on Xena's outfit with her head off screen, after Xena was shot with a poison dart by Callisto, who's head was also off screen.
And that's on how you make a powerful female lead. Nowadays' shows always trying to emphasize the protagonist's strength any chance they get, while in Xena they never had to overshow the female power, the viewer gets it on their own. Masterful show!
Only this intro excites me already, and the episode has not even started yet, except for the prologue part. I don't know why, but I always tried to do the voice-over with a darker tone when I was watching each episode, especially in the second half of the text. It was done so well.
what the hell you talking about? Xenia Warrior Princess was a show between 1995 - 2001. I''m 34 now, it was my childhood. You were like 1 when the series ended. It's not you're childhood.
Talk about powerful women. And nowadays all fictional protagonists can do is deliver long speeches about how they have to hate men and become millionaires in order to be considered powerful.
Back then when kids from all genres and backgrounds enjoy powerful woman and feel inspired... And even eclipse in popularity Hercules a male show that is the origin of her spin-off
This is how you do a fucking female lead in a TV series, nowadays we have TV shows about leading women that only steal from male leads from other TV shows ( the problem is this bullshit agenda that the femanazis and sjw's want to push) Xena is also hot, kicks ass, has a big heart and has a good backstory and more important is a portraited as a human being with emotions (why is this hard to portrait in today's TV shows I will never know)
I used to embarass my mother about Xena when I was a very young child. I would say to her during her tennis games that her legs are nice and big like Xena's legs. 😂😂😂Everyone laughed but she felt embarrassed! 😂 😂
